Content: Jenny isn't too impressed by Charlie's new attitude

Cheer tryouts had never been a high priority on Charlie's list. She wasn't like those oafs, Hunter and Mackenzie, who only went to watch girl's asses. No, Charlie wasn't exactly sure what had drawn her to watch. She had a hunch, as did Alex, that it had to do with a certain blonde twin. They hadn't spoken much since their break up and even less since the night that Charlie was turned. The younger girl couldn't decide how she felt towards Jenny anymore. She missed her friend, but at the same time, was angry at her. How dare Jenny even think about picking Sera over her? She was the better choice, especially now.

She waited until the team was mostly dispersed before approaching Jenny. It had been hard to wait, especially with the heightened pulses of the crowd of cheer hopefuls giving the tryout their all. Charlie could practically hear the blood pulsing through their veins. Luckily, today had been on of the days that Alex had allowed her to nurse her blood. It helped keep the blonde girl's hunger under control and she had been able to watch the cheer tryouts without completely losing it.

Coming up behind the older blonde, Charlie cleared her throat quietly. "Nice job out there," she said. She fiddled with the ring that she now wore on her finger. It was heavy, and to anyone who didn't know, just looked like a high school quodpot ring. It was her lifeline though, the one thing that was allowing her to live like a normal person. "You...uh...looked good."

Jenny had been watching tryouts herself for most of the day. Each of the five houses went first, followed last by the university team, which was what she had been waiting for. She still couldn't believe that she was graduating soon, and that next year she really would be in university. She had already chosen her focus, wizarding literature for sure, but both excitement and apprehension fought for her attention. It was going to be a big change, in more than just the cheerleading department. She could only hope she got onto the team. She was captain right now, that had to count for something.

By the time it was all said and done, she was pretty exhausted, but feeling confident about her performance. She hadn't noticed Charlie in the crowd when she had been sitting in it, but she had noticed her almost immediately once she had been on the field. Sera had left after the Quirank tryouts, Jenny had insisted that she must have had better things to do than sit around and watch her, but Charlie was right there. She had tried not to focus on it, she was a little distracting, but the older blonde had made it through.

It had been a while since she had spoken to Charlie, other than a brief 'hey' when they were passing in the halls, but not even that lately. Something was off about her, something was different, but Jenny couldn't put her finger on it. Maybe Alex was really starting to get to her, Jenny could only imagine what the younger girl would have been filling Charlie's head with since their break-up, which she did still genuinely feel bad about. It had been hard without Sera though, they belonged together, Jenny was sure of it. But it didn't excuse hurting Charlie.

She had, however, heard about the fight during the dance rehearsal. She was far from pleased with it, but then the news about her fight with Hunter the following day wasn't much better. When she had first heard that Hunter went to fight Charlie, Jenny had been worried for Charlie, she knew that Hunter was thick-headed with a tendency to over do it. But apparently, Charlie had come out the victor, and by no small margin. Hunter had really gotten her ass handed to her, from what Tatum had said. She was the one who had needed to fix the lunkhead up. But something was up, and Jenny couldn't quite put her finger on it, but she didn't like it.

When Charlie spoke up from behind her, the shorter blonde almost jumped out of her skin, turning around to face the other girl with her bag hanging over her shoulder. "Thanks," she said shortly, her eyes flicking over Charlie, as if looking for something off. Pretty much everybody was gone now, except for two or three girls straggling behind. "Taking a break off from beating people to a pulp?" she asked, regretting it as soon as she said it. "Sorry, I just-- I don't understand fighting."

Charlie watched as Jenny inspected her, aware of the surprise that the older girl felt when she realized that the taller blonde was behind her. Her heart rate had quickened momentarily, and Charlie could hear it starting to slow as Jenny continued to talk to her. She grimaced in response to the older girl's question. A part of her deep down had hoped that Jenny hadn't heard about the fighting, but everyone had. Most of the spectators in the stands today had given her a wide berth. Not that she minded, of course, she really didn't feel like interacting with most people.

"You could call it that," Charlie replied, a small frown on her face. "They were asking for it, Jen. I gave them fair warning to leave me alone." It was partially the truth. She had told Michi to get out of her way or she'd make her. She had issued a similar threat to Hunter as well. No one listened though, and she had really been left no choice.

"I suppose it just got out of hand," she finished with a small shrug. Charlie was torn between how human Charlie had felt about Jenny and how vampire Charlie felt. Alex had told her just go kill the little blonde bitch as revenge. She couldn't deny that there was a feral place in her mind that was egging her on to do just that. Jenny just looked so...tasty.

"Yeah, I'd say it got out of hand," she agreed, eyes searching over the younger girl in front of her again. Now that they were speaking, there was no denying that something was different. Just the way Charlie was looking at her, seeming to stare right through her, was sort of unnerving. Shuffling a little uncomfortably, the shorter blonde shifted her bag on her shoulder, watching as the last girls finally began to walk away. Within in a few moments, it was just the two of them, and she found herself looking back up at Charlie again.

"What's gotten into you? I don't know, you.." Jenny began, trailing off and biting her lip a little. "You were always very gentle. It's one of the things I always liked about you."

It was just the two of them now, and Charlie was having trouble not looking at Jenny like a piece of meat. She could hear the steady pulse of the blonde's heart. It sped up every now and then, especially when she bit her lip. Jenny's words snapped Charlie out of the spell, and the younger girl looked sheepish for a brief second. Her eyes hardened almost instantly afterwards though. Liked, it was past tense.

"Nothing's gotten into me," she replied curtly. Her eyes flicked around the empty pitch, making sure they were really alone. "It's complicated, okay? Things have...changed."

She turned away from Jenny, her arms crossed around her tightly. How could she explain to Jenny that she was a monster? Jenny, of all people. She may love Alex, but the older blonde girl was just, different. She was specia,l and the small sliver of the old Charlie that still existed in her heart was screaming at her not to let harm come to the older girl. She looked over her shoulder at Jenny before turning to offer the older girl her hand. She had to tell her, Jenny's words had caused her a discomfort she couldn't explain. The human Charlie was fighting for her to care.

"I can't tell you, but I can show you." Charlie explained, her voice calm. "Do you trust me?"

"You're lying, something is wrong!" Jenny insisted, though she had tried to hold back from blurting it out so desperately. It was as if the longer she stood there beside Charlie, the more apparent it became. There was something off, even just in her aura or something. She was sending off bad vibes. Crossing her arms firmly over her own chest as Chuck turned away from her, Jenny steeled herself for whatever the younger girl was going to tell her. She didn't know how yet, but this was somehow Alex's fault, and Jenny felt a rush of anger that came over her entirely. Why did Alex always have to screw Charlie up? She was so selfish.

"What changed? What did she do to you?" Jenny finally asked, meeting Charlie's eyes for a second as the younger girl looked back over her shoulder. Even her gaze, the way Charlie looked at her, seemed different somehow. She swallowed hard under the visual scrutiny, and hesitated for a long moment as she looked at the hand offered to her. Her friend's words weren't scary, but they had her shaking. It was a loaded question. Of course she trusted her, Charlie had never given her any reason not to. She had been there for her when almost no one else had been. But did she trust Alex, or anyone Alex brought around Charlie, or the trouble she might have gotten them into? Well, not particularly. She also couldn't figure what could be going on that she needed to see rather than hear. It was suspicious, and it was a long moment in silence before Jenny actually took the younger girl's hand.

Loosely, gripping just Charlie's fingers. "Just tell me what happened, why you're-- why you're like this now," the shorter blonde breathed, her exhale shaky. "How can I fix it? We'll fix it, together. That's.. what friends are for, right?"

Charlie frowned, it bothered her that Jenny automatically assumed that Alex had been the cause of her problem. Even if it was true, the other girl wasn't that bad, was she? Charlie certainly didn't think so, at least not when she was around Alex. It had been Gemma originally who had come up with the idea, right? That was what Alex had said when Charlie had finally come to. The shorter girl had been crying, something that Charlie hadn't seen before, so she had to be telling the truth.

"Alex didn't do anything," Charlie grumbled. "I'm better now, stronger, faster."

The taller blonde gave Jenny's fingers a reassuring squeeze, pulling her a bit closer. She grimaced for a second, the act of forcing her fangs out was still a bit painful, but she was getting used to it. She had to try hard not to just bit Jenny right there, but after a few deep breaths she was back in control. She opened her eyes to look at Jenny, their usual sky blue color had turned to a more metallic blue now and they flashed in the creeping darkness.

"We can't fix this Jen," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. Her elongated canines glinted as she spoke. "I'm a monster now, forever. You can't bring the dead back."

"She did do something to you, I can tell that she-- I don't know what she tells you, why you let her treat you that way," Jenny sighed, staring up at the younger girl. She let Charlie pull her closer, though some part of her told her to resist. She searched the taller blonde's expression, hoping to see some part of the girl that she had known so well poking through, but to no avail.

When Charlie's fangs made an appearance, Jenny couldn't help but gasp, staring at her friend and trying to figure out if what she was seeing was real. It sure felt real, and the serious look on Charlie's face was enough to tell her that Chuck was being entirely seriously. "Y-You're.. how did.. Charlie, baby.."

She trailed off, unsure what else to say, but filled with rage toward Alex. She had to have something to do with this. Tainting Charlie, making her different, darker. For her own gain, no doubt. Jenny found herself clenching her hands into fists at her side as she stared into charlie's eyes. "Why? Why did she.. you.. how did this h-happen?"
