Content: It's the end of year dance AND graduation

After a grueling week of exams, the students could finally cut loose and party. The end of the year dance had been by far the most decked out dance of all. The whole Great Hall and outside of it were decorated in rich dark blues and gentle light blues, representing the school's colors. Huge banners with Blue Ridge printed all over them were strung about the buildings. Balloons, streamers, confetti; all in the two different shades of blue and a little white were scattered all around. Everyone wore a look of relief and happiness. The school year was finally over and all they had to do was wait.

Alex/Charlie

(Link)

Alex was actually pretty pleased with herself. She had initially been shocked by Gemma's decision to turn Charlie, but Gemma's decision was law and Alex saw no way to fight it. She knew that the older woman knew what was best, for Charlie and for all of them. It was, as she kept reminding herself, better than her being a mudblood. She was powerful now, something more, and a part of something important. Her head seemed clear of that stupid girl and her stupid friends, and Alex couldn't have been more happy about it. Charlie hadn't killed Jenny yet, despite Alex's constant insistence that the older girl would make a good snack, but Alex let it slide. She could wait it out, eventually Chuck would come around. She usually did.

She hadn't allowed herself to show any weakness in recent weeks. She had shed tears for her friend, a foreign emotion called guilt had been gnawing at her, but she had only let herself cry once. It was for the greater good. When Charlie had actually been going through the process of being changed, the image of it was stuck in Alex's head. There was a surprising amount of blood, and of screaming. It seemed to take an awfully long time. It was a drawn out and painful process, from what Gemma had told her plainly while they watched. But it would be worth it in the end. She allowed the blonde to feed on her, half because she felt responsible and half because it was her duty now. Charlie was her responsibility, Gemma had done this as a favor to her. Now she could have Charlie to herself, better than before, and forever.

Letting Chuck take some of her blood each day, however, was becoming tiring. They had gone through the whole song and dance with Sato, painted themselves as victims and promised that Charlie wouldn't hurt anyone, that she would feed on wildlife in the forest surrounding the campus. But that wasn't good enough, and they both knew it. Once she had started letting the blonde have a little fix, she needed to do it every day. Charlie got irritable without at least a little taste, and Charlie was drawing enough unwanted attention as it was, with her new bad attitude and penchant for fist fights in the last week or so. But humans, even great witches, only had so much to give. Alex was becoming weary, and she needed a solution.

Either a source of fresh blood from the campus hospital, which seemed hard. Or find someone that no one would miss, which seemed much easier and more fun. She could sneak in and grab a bunch of blood donation bags, or just let Chuck chow down on an unsuspecting wallflower, so the choice was obvious. Gemma would help them cover up whatever they had to, and she had already taught Alex quite a bit about being undetected. Gemma could visit her own crime scenes and walk away innocent. Dressed to the nines as she usually was for a dance, but especially the last dance of the year, Alex entered the dance on Charlie's arm. Trying to look as casual as possible even though her eyes were scrutinizing the crowd, searching their peers and their faces for the perfect meal for the girl at her side. "If you just ate that little brat like I told you, this would be done. How would you like to eat her ugly girlfriend or something? What about Sommer? She probably has enough blood in her fat head alone to feed you for ages, Charles."

Re: Alex/Charlie

(Link)
The trouble that Charlie had gotten in for the fighting hadn't amounted to as much as she thought it would. Her promise that she would hunt more was all that had really come from it. Hunter hadn’t gone to the headmaster after their fight, and so Charlie wasn’t barred from the dance. Instead she walked in without a blonde hair out of place, Alex on her arm. As much as she didn’t believe in all of the Twilight crap that was said about vampires, she had noticed a certain poise that she hadn’t possessed before. The tight dress that she had decided to wear tonight was fitting her better than it ever had and her hair was hanging around her face just so. The new Charlie looked fierce, and Alex didn’t look so bad either.

Charlie licked her lips subconsciously as she glanced over at Alex. The shorter girl had let her nurse a little bit before they had arrived so she would be on her best behavior. It wasn’t enough however, and they both knew it. Alex had been trying to convince her to just take out one of the quiet kids, but Charlie wasn’t sure still. She couldn’t bring herself to take someone else’s life just to feed herself. Animals were different. Charlie was getting hungrier and hungrier though, and she could tell Alex’s strength was waning.

“You know just as well as I do that Sera is off limits,” she said, irritation flashing quickly behind her eyes. The only thing keeping her from sucking Sera dry was Jenny, she had promised the older girl no harm would come to them. She had only agreed for Jen’s sake, she would gladly take Sera out of the picture if she had a choice. Making a noise of disgust she rolled her eyes to Alex’s other suggestion. “I’d rather keep living off rats than eat Sommer. I’m sure they taste a lot better than that mudblood whore.”

She wrapped an arm possessively around Alex’s waist from behind and leaned in close to the shorter girl’s ear. “You wouldn’t want me to poison myself, would you?”

Charlie trailed some soft kisses down Alex's neck before giving her a soft bite on the shoulders, letting her teeth sink in. It wasn't enough to break the skin, but it was enough to prove a point. "I'm afraid I've been a bit spoiled by you, Lex. It's hard to want anything other than pureblood."

Tatum/Mack

(Link)
In all honesty, Tatum didn't think that she had ever actually held a baby, especially not a newborn. She hadn't been old enough when Sera was born to be of any help, and they definitely didn't have the largest extended family in the world to choose from. People having babies didn't happen all of that often to people that she knew. She had never even been at that end of the hospital, with delivery rooms and nurseries and even more quiet time, before Izzy was born. It seemed somehow even more bright white and sterile than even the normal hospital. She sort of wished that they were still at the hospital, because at least people at the hospital knew what they were doing.

Volunteering to take Izzy for the night so that Hunter and Michi could go out to the dance together was fine in theory. She had Mack to help, and she was thankfully better at this than Tatum felt, but she still couldn't figure out what she was doing wrong. He was normally such a chilled out baby, that had been part of why she had been so quick to volunteer, but not tonight. He had been alright at first, even after his mothers left, but it had been almost an hour now that he had been crying on full blast, and Tatum still couldn't figure what his problem was. It was frustrating to say the least. "What if h-he's dying? Oh god, Hunter w-will kill m-me if something h-h-happens!" Tatum managed ask Mack, speaking up to get it out over the braying cries of the newborn in her arms. That alone, just holding him, was sort of scary. He was so tiny and fragile looking. But then adding all of the screaming onto that, and he became a nightmare. What had happened to the quiet baby that had barely cried since coming home?

"I-I'm not very good at this.. auntie t-thing," she murmured, trying to gentle sway back and forth with the baby in her arms, hoping the gentle motions would shut him up but to no avail. She wasn't sure what else to do. He wasn't hungry, she already made Mack change him because that was one thing she couldn't do, and he didn't seem sleepy. Rubbing his back hadn't helped, she had checked his temperature, and he didn't seem to have gas or anything. She wasn't sure what to check next. It was a lot of pressure, responsibility for someone else's kid. Crying baby or not, it was still somehow better than a dance.

"M-Maybe you can make h-him stop. Talk to h-him like, your hillbilly Texas talk," she suggested, smiled wearily. Maybe if she could sound enough like Hunter, it could work. It was a better idea than nothing. "Don't like, t-toss him around and shit or whatever like she does though," Tatum quickly added. Barely a month old, and Hunter already had him rough housing.

Tatum/Mack

(Link)
Strangely, taking care of babies and children had been something that Kia had made sure Mackenzie could do at a young age. She had always taken Mack along with her when she babysat for people, seeing as Kate was a bit of an unfit mother. Once the tall blonde had reached a certain age, she began helping Kia out, especially when there were newborn’s involved. She had never told anyone, save for Hunter of course, but she actually volunteered to go help her sister out now. There was just something about babies that Macknzie loved, and she couldn’t help but be a bit overjoyed that they now had one in the house. Seeing her best friend grow up and become a dad had been one of the proudest moments of Mackenzie’s life.

Mack had been smitten with her nephew the second she had been allowed to hold him, and she couldn’t help but get a goofy grin on her face whenever she was around him. Tatum, however, was a different story. She had been trying to get Tatum to get over her fear of small children, but it had been slow going. That was why when they decided to stay in with Izzy to let Michi and Hunter have a little alone time, she had decided it was time to get her girlfriend over it. The tall blonde had left Tatum in the living room with Iz while she had gone to cook them something to eat, and by the sounds of it, it wasn’t going well.

“He’s not dying T, calm down,” she called from the kitchen, chuckling quietly to herself. That was her girl, always jumping to the worst conclusions. She turned the heat down on the spaghetti she was boiling and covered the alfredo sauce so it wouldn’t burn. Wiping her hands on a kitchen towel, she entered the living room to save the redheaded girl.

“Baby, just take a deep breath, okay?” She said, taking the screaming child from Tatum. She rested Izzy on her hip like a pro and stuck her tongue out at the other girl. “I ain’t gonna talk in my hillbilly accent! No sir! Jus’ cause I ain’t from fancy pansy Maine don’t mean I’m a hillbilly!” She looked down at Izzy and made a silly face at him, “No, it don’t! Do it, Iz?”

Izzy quieted down, still letting out a few hiccups as he looked up at Mackenzie. The blonde cooed at him and jostled him up and down a bit on her hip, smiling goofily the whole time. She soon had Izzy laughing and making happy noises in no time as he clutched at her long blonde hair. Mack looked down at the small boy and gave him a sweet smile. “Now, I’m gonna give you back to your Auntie Tatum, kay? Be a good boy for Uncle Mack and be nice to her.”

A small dribble of drool was all she got in response, and she placed the child back in Tatum’s lap before sitting down on the couch next to her. “I’m gonna let the hillbilly comment slide for now T,” she leaned over to kiss the clearly stressed girl on the cheek. “You gotta just calm down around him though. He ain’t gonna get hurt if you’re just sittin’ on the couch. They can sense your mood you know, they’re like…You can’t let them sense your fear, or they’ll get freaked out too.” She stood up to go finish dinner, and gave Tatum another kiss on the forehead. “You’re doing fine babe, you two are cute together. Now just stay calm and smile a little and you should be fine while I finish cooking dinner.”

She ruffled the peach fuzz on the top of Izzy's head and went back into the kitchen to drain the spaghetti. She pulled the chicken out from the boiling water and began to dice it. "How's it going in there T?" she called, adding a few more seasoning spices to the sauce.

Michi had watched the whole ceremony proudly, with Monkey in her lap. "Izzy, lookit yer ma," she pointed as Hunter walked across the stage to receive her degree. The whole thing was crazy, she couldn't believe Hunter and Mack were graduating already.

After the ceremony, she ran up trying not to her heel stuck in the quodpot field as she skipped forward. "Hey boo!" she called out, waving an arm over her head.

Even when Hunter was walking across the stage, making sure to grin big for her photograph while she shook the Headmaster's hand and took her diploma, it all seemed surreal. Could it really be over just like that? It felt like just yesterday that she and Mack were just kids, worried that she wouldn't even get to come to Blue Ridge. But now it was over, almost nine years all together, and she could barely believe that she had made it so far. Her road was marred with more than her share of screw-ups and trouble, granted, but she had made it none the less. On top of being a parent, she was actually a graduate, and more importantly now, an actual certified auror.

Getting a real job was going to be weird, but she knew that it was a necessity. She still hadn't told her parents about her engagement or Izzy yet, and she had a feeling that they wouldn't take kindly to the news or to him, even if he was her son. They would probably be more mad that she hadn't given birth herself. It felt like all they had ever expected out of her. They hadn't even shown up to her graduation, or sent word that they wouldn't be coming. She could practically imagine them bitching now about how they wouldn't be giving her cash to be spending their hard-earned money on some runaway whore's baby. Hard-earned being their own words whenever they tried to prove a point to their daughter; Hunter was sure they had never earned a single thing they had in their lives. It made her sneer. Her mother and father had been born with silver spoons in their mouths, and so had she. It would be there still if she played by the rules, had married someone they approved of by now and not been a witch. But playing to their standards was never Hunter's style, and she was going to earn her own damn money and take care of her own damn business, even if it was going to be a rough start. She didn't need them, and they could be damned if they were rude to her or Michi when she told them about their little family.

She made her way off the stage, the realization sinking in that she needed to look for a job and she might not have a summer vacation this year, as Michi and Izzy came bounding toward her. She had her graduation cap crookedly on her head, grinning widely at the sight of them, and jogging the rest of the way across the green to meet them. "Hey you," she greeted Michi, leaning in to kiss her cheek before dropping her rolled up diploma into her fiance's purse, and liberating Izzy from her arms. She immediately began showering his face in kisses once she had him propped up comfortably in the crook of her arm. "And ma's lil slugger, I didn't forget about you!"

Michi had briefly wondered about Hunter's parents, they certainly wouldn't like the path that their daughter choose. Michi didn't care what anyone else thought though; she and Hunter knew that they were going to be fine, they had each other and they were happy.

"Lookit y'all," Michi beamed at the older girl. "A graduate, a parent, engaged. What the hell happened this year?" she asked giving her a playful kiss on the lips.

"Crazy, right? I actually got my life together, what's that all 'bout?" Hunter laughed, brushing her nose against the other girl's as they kissed. "Gotta grow up pretty quick with the little guy," she agreed. Even if she hadn't been acting entirely grown up in the last week, getting into fights of her own and getting drunk just before Izzy had been born. But she had been trying her very best, for what it was worth, and now it was sort of paying off.

"I don't even got the lowest grades in my class," she grinned.

"Well I always told ya if you applied your damn self you would get better grades," she laughed. "Yer way smarter than you give yourself credit for babe."

Jenny/Rath

(Link)
Jenny was overwhelmed by graduation day as a whole, but she was also incredibly hyped up and ready to go. Her legs had been shaking as she crossed the stage to receive her diploma, shaking hands with the Headmaster and Professor Sweet's hand, it felt like her legs were still made of jelly as she took a seat and watched Ella head up next. Reverse alphabetical order was working in their favor, and with a 'P' last name, they were two of the first few to get their presentations. That was a relief.

There were still awards and commendations and things to give, not to mention her closing speech of the afternoon as Headgirl representing the class of 2012. That was the worrying part. She had rehearsed all week, and she still didn't feel like her speech covered or addressed anything she wanted it to. Hell, it didn't feel like it even addressed anything relevant. She pulled herself together just as she was climbing back on stage, clearing her throat and launching into the speech that she had memorized from her cue cards. It was like a blur of moments before it was all officially over, and everyone was ushering their off the field, people walking in all directions with little clusters of their family and friends.

It was Ron that suggested a late lunch, their family and the Turners, and the Donnellys while they were at it. Madeline and her father had been chatting about 'their girls' ever since they left the ceremony; neither Ella or Sera looked as embarrassed as she felt, and Tatum looked. Jenny found herself biting her tongue as her ever free spirited dad began musing aloud while they walked, asking Madeline why they had all never been out together before. She caught Paula's eyes before looking away. She knew just as well as most of the rest of the family that this was only happening because Sera's father wasn't there in the picture. He had been the reason that the Donnellys and Parrys had never eaten dinner together, or got together, like two normal sets of in-laws. With him gone, there was no more hiding the nature of their relationship and walking on eggshells about it. They could have family days like this now, all of them. She found herself holding Sera's hand, just because she could.

It was lucky that their parents gave them some time to get ready before lunch though, as Jenny was pretty sure that she was going to die without a cigarette. She knew that she'd end up smoking half a pack at the party later, so she had been trying to contain herself, but the aftermath of the speech and ceremony still had her shaken up. She was graduated, a university student now, and she had gotten through her speech without looking like a total dolt. She deserved a cigarette. Letting her mom and dad lead Madeline and the Turners away, Jenny was quick to head up to she and Ella's room, changing out of her gown at least, and fixing up her hair. There wasn't much to choose from as far as wardrobe went, most of their things were packed for the summer, but she had an outfit from under her gown that was just fine. Ron had said half an hour before they'd come back for the kids, so with fifteen to spare, she snuck out of Quirank and headed toward the back of the building. She'd charm the tobacco smell away before either Paula or Ron caught on.

She was leaned against the back wall of Quirank's dorm building, distracted with digging in her purse and looking for a lighter, when she heard the flick of one right in front of her. Looking up to see Rath standing there, lighter lit and waiting to light her up, she just about jumped out of her skin. "Jesus, you scared me!" she told him, before leaning her head forward and letting him light the cigarette for her. She didn't even know that he knew about her smoking, but he had never been one to let much slip by, no matter how much weed he smoked. He could be an observant as his sister. He had probably smelled it on her before, Sera too. "Sneaking in a joint before we eat?" she asked, smiling. "Get lonely?"

Rath had always hated formal gatherings, it was just a part of who he was. He preferred laid back gatherings with weed and beers but Madeline was never one for that sort of activity. Speaking of Madeline... he didn't know how to be around her anymore. He was exceptionally proud of her for leaving their father and he loved her to death, she had to be the most wonderful step mother of all time and she had always been there for him and Tatum. He just felt awkward knowing everything he knew. It was also a pain in the ass to be in the presence of other adults because they were always asking what he was going to do after graduation or what he was doing at the moment. It was a pain in the ass because he had no long term plans, he just wanted to bake food and smoke weed, which was a great conversation starter when he was talking to his little sister's girlfriend's parents.

Then inevitably... they would ask about any lovely ladies that had caught his attention. Why the fuck did they always have to bring that up? He couldn't talk about his involvement in a love triangle with his best friend and his girlfriend. He also couldn't talk about how they lived in France and the only way he had been able to see them lately was on skype. Awkward.

He thought he wanted to be alone so he hustled out behind University house to smoke but before long he realized he didn't want to be alone. He walked over to Quirank, predicting one of those girls would be out there having a nervous cigarette before the firing squad. They all thought they were so coy but Rath was on to them. Sure enough, Jenny popped out just as he was settling against the wall.

Rath smirked at her reaction then lit his joint. "Hell yeah I'm sneaking in a joint," he laughed. "I couldn't stand in front of them without it," he admitted. "It's gonna be so fuckin' weird," he hooked an arm around her shoulder and pulled her into a half hug. "Congrats by the way future little sis," he teased. "Graduating and everything. Are you ready for this monstrosity of a dinner?"

"It's not gonna be that weird," Jenny insisted, leaning lazily into the arm he had around her shoulders. She took a drag from her cigarette, turning her head to exhale. "It could be much worse, I mean.. Hendrix's dad is a little rude, but everybody seems to be getting along, right? I'm just glad that ceremony is over," she admitted. She had been excited and well-prepared for it, but it was like a weight lifted off of her shoulders. It hadn't been an easy year to be Headgirl, and she was sort of looking forward to passing the title on. Mysterious things happening that she couldn't do anything about while she was in office hadn't been part of her plan.

"Either way, thank you.. and I'm as ready as I'm going to get. I'll have to charm the smell off of myself before we go, mom could pick it off of me in a crowd no problem. And if I get a smoking lecture during dinner, then I'm not ready for that," she laughed. She really had meant to quit, they both had almost as soon as they got back together, but it just hadn't quite happened yet. Having Meka and Tatum around to bum off of hadn't helped much, but she couldn't blame them. "What about you? You're okay.. with your mom and everything? She has been really supportive about this whole thing," the blonde asked a little cautiously.

He laughed and kissed the top of her head. "A little rude? He's a total misogynist and homophobe. How comfortable do you think this is gonna be? Especially when all the adults start asking where my girlfriend is," he said with a grin. "Hey, you did alright kid, the best speech I've head at a graduation in a long time. I don't even remember who gave the speech at my own graduation," he admitted after taking a drag from his joint. If he was being entirely honest though, he would have admitted to how much pot he and Tatum had smoked before their graduation from the academy.

"If they don't know I smoke by now, they're helplessly unaware," he laughed. He had tried to cover it up while he was in the academy but things changed when he shipped off to Paris. He stopped hiding himself and hiding the things that he did despite how much his parents disapproved.

"I'm super proud of Madeline... mom," he corrected himself. He had been doing ti all his life. "After everything with Tate and Sera she was there but it took her so long and I was so mad at her for the longest time," he shook his head. "But I wasn't just mad at her, turns out I was mad at myself for not doing anything to help." It was the most honest thing he had said at all about the whole situation.

Michiko had not touched a sip in alcohol in almost a year and it had been easier than she thought it was going to be. It was for Monkey, therefore it had been easy, but now that she had actually given birth to him and she wasn't nursing him, she could drink. Just one beer, she had said, or maybe one of those drinks that tasted like skittles... well... a few skittles drinks later, she was stumbling toward Hunter.

"Hunt!" she said pulling her own jacket around her. "Hunt! I'm too drunky," she pouted, leaning into the older girl. "How's Monkey boo?"

Nine months was a long time to go without a drink, in Hunter's honest opinion, so she had figured it was Michi's turn tonight. Especially after her own spectacularly drunken fuck-ups during the pregnancy that the younger girl had put up with. If Michi wanted to get wasted tonight, then Hunter had decided more power to her. It was her graduation, but some oddly adult part of her had also decided that it being graduation only made staying sober a better idea. She'd only get to do this once, and it would be one of her last college parties, at least as a student. Remembering it all was probably for the best. Plus there was the fact that someone needed to watch Izzy, which she was more than happy to do.

Mack kept asking her if she was practicing attachment parenting or something, because everywhere that the taller blonde went lately, she usually had her boy strapped to the front of her. It was perfect, let her take him anywhere and kept her hands free. He even seemed to sleep better leaning on her chest, Tatum had explained something about him listening to heartbeats and rhythms, but Hunter hadn't really listened. Regardless of the why, the baby carrier harness was one of the best investment she made, even if Michi refused to wear it. That just meant more time for her.

Stone cold sober was never really how she spent a party, but she was content with it tonight. She had mostly been just talking with people, walking around and shooting the shit, taking a few minutes to check on Iz and shift him around in his little carrier so that he was comfy. She normally wouldn't have taken him to the party, but most of the people they trusted to babysit were at it anyway, and it was one night, or so she reasoned. She had her eyes on him. He was a surprisingly solid sleeper, despite all of the yelling and whooping of the party-goers. Deep sleeper, just like Hunter herself. It made her grin. People kept asking her about her fight with Charlie every once in a while, which she was still sore about both physically and otherwise, but the blonde mostly waved it off. She'd get that bitch next time.

When Michi came running up to them, Hunter laughed a little, reaching out a hand to take the other girl's arm and steady her a bit. "Sleepin' like a li'l.. y'know, li'l baby or somethin' or other," Hunter assured her, crouching down a bit so that Michi could see him tucked against her chest in his little carrier. He was tucked in pretty cozy, and Hunter pulled a blanket back just a bit to get a better look at him. "He's gonna be a heart-breaker, bitches love 'em," she laughed. Tons of their friends and acquaintances had been asking to see him all night, aww'ing and cooing over him, and some of the sober ones had even got to hold him. Hunter couldn't have been prouder. "Not even a month old, an' all the girls wanna chill with 'em."

"Oh god," she said kicking off her heels and letting them fall to the ground. "I'm the worst momma ever," she leaned heavily into Hunter's side. "I can't even nurse our boo," she pouted. "And now here I am drunk off my face and getting into fights in less than two weeks an..." she began mumbling incoherently.

"He is, ain't he?" Hunter agreed proudly, practically beaming as she squinted her eyes shut against the kiss on her cheek. She opened her mouth to suggest that maybe keeping her shoes on was a better idea, but there were worse things she could be stripping out of, so the tall blonde just made sure to help hold the younger girl up while she struggled instead.

"You ain't a bad momma! Who the hell said that?" the blonde demanded, wrapping an arm protectively around Michi as she leaned against her. "Hey, you ain't been drunk off your ass in a damn long time.. and I think all that baloney about breastfeedin' is.. y'know, baloney! I never got fed off the tit, thank fuck.. but either way, I'm normal, ain't I? It's fine!"

"Yeah," Michi cooed once she was solid on her feet again. She brushed her lips against his tiny forehead and sighed contentedly. "He's a big boy, our big boy," she giggled.

"Ugh, everyone," Michi sighed. "Ma left a voice mail the other day cause I aint been taking her calls and she said she was mighty disappointed and that I would be a bad ma cause I was stupid and selfish. An' y'all should see the way they all been looking at me on campus when I show up with Iz, like... it's bullshit or something," she mumbled, her eyes fluttering shut a little.
