A ten year old girl and her aunt are hospitalized after a "freak" accident caused a spray paint can to explode in their faces. Really? Freak accident? Because the only thing freaky I see here is the freakishly large amount of ignorance this woman had.

Mobile phones and computers may soon be used as on-the-go testing stations for sexually transmitted diseases and infections, thanks to efforts in Britain to curb the rising rate of herpes, chlamydia and gonorrhea among young people.

A group of doctors and tech experts, known as the UK Clinical Research Collaboration, has put 4 million pounds (about $6.4 million) into developing a system, similar to pregnancy testing kits, that will be able to tell someone within minutes, privately, if they have an STD, according to a report in the Guardian.

The user will be able to put urine or saliva onto a computer chip about the size of a USB drive, which then plugs it into their phone or computer to receive a quick diagnosis of common STDs, the Guardian said.

I suddenly see someone inventing iPhone freshener cases with strong scents to cover up the fact you had to insert your piss into it minutes ago. >.>

Early reviews of Microsoft's Kinect facial recognition feature suggest that the motion-sensing camera does not work properly with some darker-skinned users. GameSpot's U.K. site unsuccessfully tested Kinect's features with two dark-skinned employees, while white reviewers had no problem using facial recognition.

This is probably the dumbest thing I've read all day today.

AMC plans a rather ambitious promotional stunt to promote The Walking Dead.

The cable network is staging "zombie attacks" in 26 major cities -- hundreds of extras in zombie makeup roaming landmarks such as the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City, the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C., Big Ben in London, The Prado Museum in Madrid.

The stunts will commence at daybreak in Taipei and Hong Kong on Tuesday, Oct. 26 and moves across the globe during a 24 hour period and culminates at the show’s Los Angeles premiere.

The six-episode series debuts Oct. 31 and the series is going to debut internationally in 120 countries the same week as the U.S. premiere.

I've seen the first two episodes. If you've watched the four-minute trailer, you have an accurate sense of how well-executed this drama is. Fans of the genre are going to love it. The question is whether it can draw a large enough (read: female) audience. The uncompromising opening scene, which I won't spoil, is going to lose X% of viewers right off the bat. The rest is almost certainly the most gory series ever to air on TV.

Not only should this be totally awesome, I'm fully expecting someone to start blaring "Thriller" by Michael Jackson from their speakers.
