Setting: The Van Rensselaer home, NOLA. Tues March 8th

Summary: It's Mardi Gras in NOLA. Naturally someone has to have a party.

Never mind that it was a school night, Quinn wanted a party. She'd been intending to throw one on Mardi Gras and had been working on her uncle for some time to let her have the house. Finally she had won out. Not only did she get permission, but Noah and his wife vacated for the next couple days to allow her the opportunity for the party as well as the clean up. There was plenty of room for people to crash that night before they had to manage to get to class the following day.

The main portion of the house was decorated with all sorts of Mardi Gras decorations. Streamers, masks, draped boas, and other brightly coloured items to mark the festival. Quinn had made sure there was plenty of starting alcohol available, all obtained through a reliable source and none from her own stash. She was sure more people would bring their own to fill it out. Even food was available, though the size of the alcohol table was far larger.

A house elf was aiding the hostess in passing out beads to the male attendees while the hostess herself filled her arm with a bunch to pass out as she made her rounds.

It's Mardi Gras, and it's time to party.

Summary: Shelby and Hunter play some bball and hang out after Muggle Sports.

Shelby reached down tightening the laces on his sneakers. The ball was tucked under his arm. He straightened up, checking the ball to Hunter from just within the three-point line. "Okay dude, next point wins." He announced, the ball now bouncing back to him along the ground.

He looked up at Hunter with a goofy grin, trying to plan his next move. He waited for her to come to him, faked a shot and finally dribbled left.

Summary: It's the Valentine's Day dance! Get grooving!

CCI's main hall had been decked out to the nines for the annual Valentine's Day dance. Red, pink, and white streamers and hearts hung from the ceiling. The usual snack table had been set up with a deep red table cloth and lined with trays of snacks and bowls of punch. The lighting was a bit hazy, giving a romantic hue to the room... but not too romantic! Professors were on the alert for inappropriate behavior.

Charmed papier-mache hearts floated through the dance, occasionally exploding and sending jets of glitter to the dance floor. The music was loud and energetic and the hall way already flooding with students dressed in their best and dancing.

Summary: Shelby's just jamming trying to mind his own business.

He wasn't trying to bother anyone, he really wasn't but he wasn't actually sitting quietly. Shelby sat with his head down, his head phones on and his drumsticks in hand. With his music blaring at full volume, it had to be heard by nearly the entire room. Which was otherwise nearly quiet.

He was tapping his foot and banging his sticks on the table to the beat of his music, completely oblivious to what was going on around him.

Summary: It's the Snowflake Ball!

The main hall of the Crescent City Institute had been completely transformed for the school's annual Snowflake Ball. Instead of a grand, but rather bland, hall, there was now an utterly festive atmosphere. A giant tree was the focal point now, decorated with real icicles and pine needles, and tiny fairies sitting politely on the ends of branches to provide a twinkling effect. Pillars were festooned with garlands and ribbon, tables set up with snowy white tablecloths, and the floor had been charmed to give off a low, misty effect. It was an effect that went well with the effect placed on the ceiling.

This was Louisiana, after all, and it wasn't often that they got heavy snow. But for tonight at least, there was snow at CCI. Or rather, in CCI. Snow fell prettily from the enchanted ceiling, warm and not wet at all. It evaporated before it hit the floor, but there was a charming quality to it as it fell among the Ball's attendees. In some spots, little floating lights, much like will-o-wisps floated amid the falling snow. Here and there, professors walked among the students giving greetings and compliments, and sometimes rebukes, all garbed in their holiday best. Some wore dress robes, others donned more Muggle attire. All in all, it was a beautiful occasion.

Setting: Tuesday November 23rd, just before dusk, outside Rienzi House.
Content: Mostly SFW, mild swearing
Summary: Shelby goes skateboarding to burn off some energy.

Sitting on his bed Shelby leaned forward and glanced around his room, noting his skateboard standing in the corner he shifted his eyes towards the clock sitting just at his bedside. Noting the time, and that he definitely needed to get out for a bit, he decided a quick skate was in order.

He stood to his feet, reached his hands to his head and shook his hair, messing it up a little. He reached down to the floor beside him and picked up the first hat he could find amongst the pile of dirty clothes that were covering his floor like a blanket. Good to go, he thought as he finished doing up his shoelaces. Grabbing his board and mp3 player, he headed downstairs and outside.

Stopping just outside the building he sat his board down and adjusted his music before heading off.

Abernathy carved a hand sized turtle for Shelby and wrapped it in left over newspaper. She taped it to his bedroom door Sunday afternoon. The note attached read:
