A Business Proposition @ 08:25 pm

[info]mrcrankypants:

Arthur had spent some time in Sub Diego making sure things were running smoothly. They had elections for mayor coming up and Arthur wanted to make sure they smoothly. They need to reestablish a system of government and get things running as close to normal as possible.

One thing had been weighing on Arthur's mind after talking to some of the citizens. They wanted a means to contact their friends and family on the surface. Electronics and water didn't mix well. Atlantis had the technology, but it was alien and he wasn't sure how it would be welcomed.

If there was a way to integrate surface tech with Atlantean tech, maybe a solution to Sub Diego's communication issues could be solved. There was also the issue of televisions and whatnot that humans were used to having.

Arthur pondered the problem for a bit before an idea sprang to mind.

He called a friend and arranged a meeting.

Arthur arrived early and grabbed a table. They may as well eat while they discussed the problem.

Giving Thanks @ 05:12 pm

"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." JFK

In America today is a day for being thankful for the things in people's lives. Today was a day to celebrate family, friends, prosperity and health with food, family and friends. It is a time to reflect on what is important us and to recognize the gratitude we hold for having those things in our lives.

The Deal @ 08:56 pm

[info]thedarkknight:

After his meeting with Clark, the anger he felt faded more into irritation as he left the new restaurant he'd just bought. Sure, it wasn't anything like DelMonico's, here in Star City, but it would certain be a top destination once his people finished booking the celebrity chef that Bruce had in mind. He pushed that thought aside as he looked at Carol Ferris, his lips spreading into an automatic grin as he greeted her.

"Carol, you look lovely, as always." Bruce says, taking her hand and giving it a light kiss. It was petty of him to think it, but he wished that Jordan was here right now. Bruce would have loved to watch the man squirm.

(no subject) @ 03:00 pm

[info]man_of_steel:

When Perry had pulled Clark last week and said "Alright Kent, your stuff on the Entertainment Section has been dynamite lately, so I'm giving you the feature interview for 'Planet'." Clark had had 3 immediate emotional responses.

1- Guilt
Guilt over the fact that he had not actually written the work for the entertainment section. Instead, the artificial intelligence systems at the Fortress had analyzed wire feeds and the internet to produce manageable stories. Hence the reason he had switched to the entertainment column- where regurgitating old information over and over again was called writing, rather than plagiarism. It had also allowed for Clark to send in his stories while he was "on the road" supposedly following the entertainment circuit.
2- Elation
Planet was a new monthly magazine that featured work from Daily Planet contributors, and had quickly become considered on par with Time and Newsweek. The centerpiece interview gave Clark the opportunity to interview leaders in politics and industry the world over.
3- Apprehension
It took Clark a moment before he started to get a sinking feeling, when he remembered who this months interview subject was. Bruce. Wayne.
--

So now Clark found himself in Los Angeles staring at his watch, then back up at the empty restaurant. Bruce had rented out the entire place, of course. In fact, he had likely just bought the place. The fact that it was Ivy one of the most prestigious infamous celebrity hotspots in LA wouldn't matter to Bruce Wayne in the least. He loves acting the idiot playboy Clark thought, smiling. The smile disappeared when he saw Bruce enter the room.

Clark had deliberately chosen to do the interview when Bruce was scheduled to be out of Gotham, on business. He wasn't going to violate Bruce's "Stay out of my town" ultimatum- but only out of respect for his friend. If Clark decided he was needed in Gotham, Superman would be there. Whether Bruce liked it or not.

Clark stood as Bruce approached, holding out a hand. "Mr. Wayne, its a pleasure to see you again."

It was always good business to be seen in public supporting a good cause.

Carol told herself this as she smiled yet again at another tuxedo-clad man regaling her with his list of good deeds to impress her. President and CEO of Ferris Air sounded good, and it looked lovely when written in a calligraphy hand on an invitation. The fact that she was currently drowning in paperwork back at the office and should be attending to it put a bit of a damper on the evening.

She tacked her smile in place and listened to...what was his name again?...with feigned interest, hoping for a rescue or at least a distraction. A waiter with more champagne would do nicely.
