seattle at night
So there were vampires in Seattle.  Alright, that just meant she needed to have a wooden stake with her at all times, among other things.  Now was one of those good times, being nighttime and walking alone.  Marie felt more confident in her ability to protect herself, now that she was aware of the dangers of the night.  Well, at least one of the dangers of the night.

And maybe they were aware of her and her knowledge, too, because not a single predator of the night had tried to attack her.  It's possible they learned their lesson when Bram took care of them the other night.

Greg needed some fresh air and decided to take a walk. His bar was crowded with people and he needed a breather. He was glad the bar was doing well, but some nights he needed a break.

Hands in his coat he walked down the sidewalk.

Sometimes, the Loa gave Marie subtle hints. They weren't exactly clear about what they were telling her, though. It was always more that they gave her a sense of direction. As she turned the corner, she saw a man in a coat walking her way. He certainly seemed normal, but a feeling from the Loa indicated more.

It was similar to when she was found by Bram.

"Excuse me," she said, trying to get his attention. The Loa wouldn't give her any real help on this one. She had to figure him out for herself.

Greg was lost in thoughts when she said something. The coming full moon weighed on his mind and he had been aimlessly walking. "Yes?" he said.

He seemed distracted, but at least she got his attention. Now, she figured, she might as well be up front with him and ask him something. She got the same feeling from him as she did with Bram, so maybe they'd know each other?

"Do you, by chance, know a man named Bram Harker?"

Greg blinked, a little surprised by the question. "Yeah, I do. Why do you ask?"

"He saved my life from vampires the other night," she replied. She didn't like to be so forward, but sometimes that was the best way to handle a situation. "I don't believe it was by chance. The Loa guided me to Seattle and, I believe, to both of you."

Greg eyed her. The Loa were Vodu gods and their followers practiced sympathetic magic. "Greg Price," he said with a nod.

"Marie Chabert," she replied. "My father is Jericho Drumm."

"Jack Russel," she repeated, trying desperately not to make the connection to a Jack Russel Terrier. "He was the... Werewolf By Night? My father had mentioned him when we talked."

Greg chuckled. "No. I just run a bar and take care of the occasional problem."

She didn't feel it was her place to comment on the occasional problem or investigate further into it, so she didn't.

"A bar? Is that how you know Bram?"

Greg shook his head. "No. We occasionally work together to take care of those occasional problems. When vampires and whatever rear their ugly heads."

"Ah, so you also hunt vampires. And there are other creatures that roam the streets of Seattle, then? I assumed there would be, but I wasn't sure."

"I didn't know the men paying for hookers were so offensive here," she replied. She had no idea what a tryk was. The broader spectrum of the supernatural scene was new to her.

She was a little taken by surprise, to say the least.
