New York, New York
Quinn loved New York City. It was as much his home as England and Braddock Manor was. Well the Braddock Manor in his home world. He had been to the one here only once. Brian was still rather cool toward him, so Quinn stayed away. It was better that way.

Currently he was sitting in a pub a few blocks away from the Sanctum Sanctorum enjoying a pint of beer.

Stilt Man didn't exactly write the book on subtlety. If he had, he'd accompany it by kidnapping some major publishing house editors and magazine execs until it was advertised as a #1 bestseller, possibly to have its own movie-tie-in coming soon.

Today's target is one of the museums near Quinn - the one with the Egyptian displays on, including some five thousand year old relics. While he's just hoping some are valuable, without considering how difficult to fence such things are, he's also accidentally picked up some of the charms warding a couple of pharoahs against magic, and some items with inscribed curses, should magic be used to interfere with the resting place or its contents.

He's carrying a sarcophagus full of everything he could toss into it as he takes long, crashing strides through the city streets.

Why was it something always happened when Quinn was trying to enjoy a quiet beer? Quinn hurried out of the pub to see what the commotion was in the street.

Huh. That was something you didn't see everyday. Guess it was time to be a hero. His clothes transformed into his Captain Britain uniform. Or they were supposed to. Nothing happened.

This wasn't good.

Quinn tried to cast the easiest spell he knew and nothing happened.

"Bollocks!"

And it would be just Quinn's luck that, as he's trying to transform, the long strides of the robotic suit come his way - and then crash through the roof of the bar he was just in.

"Oh bloody hell," Quinn said. How hard was it to get a beer and not have something happen?

Time to do something about this bloke. "Let the crimson bands of Cyttorak surge forth, seeking the one who is near," he said trying to cast the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak around the guy.

Nothing happened.

Stilt-Man hears all of the shouting and chanting. That sounds suspiciously like a problem.

One robotic arm crashes through the roof of the bar, hefting one of their beer vats before Stilt-Man smashes it open and upends the contents onto Quinn before he finds a spell that works.

Quinn wanted beer and he got some. Though he was planning on drinking beer, not getting a beer bath.

Magic wasn't working for some bloody reason. It was time to get creative. He grabbed a few of the heavy glass mugs and started throwing them at Stilt-Man's head.

Stilt-Man is about to call it good and walk off, when a mug smashes against the bulletproof glass dome of the suit. Then another.

"You just don't give up, do you?" he asks, still holding onto the vat with one end torn open, and reaching for Quinn with the other hand. There's an evil plan in mind here.

"That's why I'm one of the good guys," Quinn said as he launched another glass at Stilt-Man. He saw the hand coming toward him and tried to dive out of the way.

His first swipe gets empty air. Growling, Stilt-Man tries a couple more times, before just trying to slam the barrel down on top of Quinn to trap him under it.

Quinn scrambled out of the way and tried to avoid the barrel. It came down and caught him on the foot. The rim of the barrel landed on his ankle and Quinn yelled. "Bollocks!" Quinn yelled. He grabbed a bar stool and heaved it at Stilt-Man.

The bar stool explodes against the armor, surprising him enough to get a pause.

"I've had just about enough of you!" he bellows, smashing one foot down towards Quinn.

He figures the guy will dodge, so he's really just trying to distract him with the big foot long enough to snag Quinn in a hand, drop him into the barrel, and set it rolling down the nearest big hill.

Quinn did dodged and got grabbed by a giant hand. He struggled to get free.

"Alright, you're going for a ride."

Stilt-Man dumps Quinn into the empty beer barrel, then sets it rolling down the largest hill within reach. It ought to make for quite the wild ride through traffic and busy streets in a rapidly rolling barrel.

Stilt-Man spends the time meanwhile to head the other direction in long strides with his ill-gotten gains.

Quinn may never hear the end of this.

It wasn't by far the worst thing to happen to him, but definitely not good. When the barrel came to a stop Quinn climbed out and teleported home to England. There were better pubs in England and less chaos.
