The Avengers Mansion was pretty easy to find with how public it was not that Nicolai thought it would be that hard to find otherwise anyways. It was a pretty impressive looking building though it definitely was no castle. The Avengers definitely had impressive technology though.

He had sent a message ahead of time letting them know of his intentions and that he would be coming by soon. The Avengers did a lot of good for the world and the challenges they faced were certainly something he wanted to do himself. He paged the intercom to be let inside.

In the United States we know him as Santa Claus.

No matter the name or who is delivering gifts, it is the season of peace, joy and togetherness. It is the season for thinking about loved ones, friends and those less fortunate. It is a time to witness the goodness and generosity the human race is capable of. It is a time for peace on Earth and goodwill toward man.

Earlier in the day the owner of the farm, Henry Collins, was working on his farm. He was clearing some land to build a new barn for his cows. His old one wasn't big enough any longer and he had decided to build a new one instead of expanding the old one. Bulldozers and other heavy equipment had been brought in to even out the land he had selected as the site. During the day one of the pieces of heavy equipment unknowingly unearthed something that had been lying in the ground. The wooden stake that had been driven into the cow was knocked out.

When darkness settled over the Collins Farm that evening, the cow that had been unearthed rose from the ground seemingly alive. Bessie, as the cow was known, was free once more and free to hunt down the being that was responsible for her condition. First she needed to feed and make an army to help her in her quest to defeat the Lord of the Vampires.

She ambled toward the old barn and the herd of cows inside.

Three days later the cows that Bessie had killed rose from the dead. Bessie now had the first recruits in her vampire cow army. They went off into the night to recruit more members to their cause.

After that whole incident with the Nazis in Central Park Chris decided that it might be wise to stop by the Avengers mansion a few days later as long as things weren't to busy. That whole incident was weird, well at least by most peoples standards still it seemed like a good idea to check in.

Chris teleported to the front gates of the Avengers mansion and rang the buzzer. It seemed rude to just teleport in since he really hadn't been around there in a long while.

It was a normal summer day in New York City. The thermometer was at 80, the sun was out and there was relatively no humidity. It was a perfect summer day.

A bright light appeared in the middle of Central Park and started to grow. It expanded rapidly and grew to the size of a two story house. The tear in space in time was still for a moment and then things began to emerge from it. A giant robot walked through with guns ready. A moment later a second robot emerged, this one looked like a giant flying manta ray. It was followed by another that looked like a giant flying head.

The three robots were followed by a division of soldiers, each armed with automatic rifles and wearing uniforms with swastikas. They marched out of the portal and split in half. One group went east and the rest went west. Following the soldiers came a few other individuals. The Red Skull, Masterman, Warrior Woman, Iron Cross, and U-Man came out of the portal.

"Attack!" the Red Skull shouted. "Destroy the city!"

He arrives at the front gate with the clothes on his back, a couple of suitcases (he thinks that's what they're called) and, most important, his sunglasses upon his face. He hopes these other Avengers will not keep him waiting.

Ahura stands tall, straight and proud, awaiting someone to acknowledge his arrival. His parents seem to believe that these Avengers are worthy allies and that he can learn from them.

He waits to be impressed.

"Now, which one of these people is the one I'm supposed to speak to about staying here? Chauncey, you called him?" Ahura asks.

Now that the other Avengers were back it was time to reorganize the team a bit. James didn't want to give up leadership of the team and he knew Charlie would want it. The answer to the problem was simple. A team meeting and a vote according to the charter. There was also the issue of dealing with a lot of Avengers to address.

James sent out notification of the time to all Avengers, reserve and active. When it was the right time he made his way to the conference room and took a seat.

Charlie was glad to be home. In the end of it, he enjoyed his time hoping around through the timestream, and had gotten to become really good friends with his teammates.

But goddamn, it felt good to be back.

After stopping off at his parent's apartment for a quick change of clothes and a shower (his Mom wasn't home yet, but his Dad said that he'd tell her that they had come back later), Charlie made his way over to Avengers Mansion.

"Anybody home?"

A good talk with his favorite cousin set Jeff straight.  He decided to head over to the Avengers Mansion to seek out membership.  Jarvis let him into the building, as per usual, and he waited in the foyer while the old man gave notice of his arrival.

Plans had been made, maps studied, the situation read as best it could be.  There was no more time for talk.  The Mothership would be leaving by the next day.  If the aliens who had stolen this world were not defeated now, it wasn't likely they ever would be. 

But these aliens had never faced people with the kinds of powers that the Avengers possessed.  The paltry number of defenders the planet Earth had had when they had arrived had died easily.  And this world possessed no Inhumans, no Eternals, no Deviants.  No one would or could fight back on the scale needed.

But the time of domination was over.

The beginning of a New Year, a time for new hopes, new experiences to come. A time to reflect on times past, remembering fond memories happily and trying to put less pleasant thoughts and experiences in the past.

It is a time of renewal, a time of rebirth. And for much of the world, it is a time of celebration. This is no less true for the super hero set as anyone else. If anything, they just have that much bigger of things to look forward to.

The New Year was a time for sending out the old year and ringing in the new. It was always a time of partying and celebrating. This year it was time for a battle. The time and dimensionally displaced Avengers along with their possible future kids got ready for a battle with Kang and his forces.

Steve Barton was back, though not necessarily to stay.   He'd sat through a very quick doctor's examination which had revealed that he was in generally good health, though perhaps not having been eating as regularly as he should have.  His right arm was entirely gone, as was his right shoulder and a portion of his pectoral muscle and back.  It had all been replaced by cybernetics that seemed slightly ahead of current technology. 

Loosely over his back, he carried a shield that looked like it once belonged to Captain America.  It had.

They'd commandeered a conference room for a quick war council.

"Okay," Steve said, pacing with the need to keep moving.  He looked older by a year or two, maybe more if you counted the stress and shell-shocked look in his eyes.  "When I disappeared, I ended up in a different dimension.  There, the Earth had been conquered by aliens some time in the 50's. Most of the population had been wiped out.  But some survived as slaves or experiments.  But there was a resistance.  I hooked up with them, started teaching them how to really fight back.  Even, kinda put together a rag-tag Avengers.

We were barely holding our ground.  But now, the mothership, with the aliens leaders, is on Earth.  And we have a plan to take them down.  But we needed muscle.  We pieced together just enough technology, with the help of one of those Avengers, to send me back here."

He swallowed.  "This is that Earth's last chance.  I need you to help me."

“We’re here outside the Four Seasons Hotel in New York where the who’s who is gathered tonight. Celebrities, royals and superheroes have all turned out for the annual Maria Stark Foundation Winter Charity event benefiting Toys for Tots.

It’s truly an all-star gala here tonight.

New York’s own princess, Anya Stark, was seen being escorted by what appears to be her new flame, actor Austin Cain. Her brother and currently second in line to the Russian throne, Mikhail Romanov, was seen entering the party with Lyta Worthington, heiress to Worthington Industries. Tony and Natasha Stark, parents of a new baby, are making their first public appearance since the birth of their son.

Mackenzie Rider, a prince of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, is escorting Ms. Andrea Denker of the Fantastic Four tonight. Kristoff Vernard, leader of the Fantastic Four, was seen in attendance with his wife Cassandra and their son Scotty. Vincent Amorason, heir to Latveria, arrived alongside his brother and was seen escorting a member of the Defenders, Asleif Thorsdottir. The rest of the Fantastic Four are here too with their dates, though Miss Valeria Richards is not in attendance. Franklin Richards is in attendance and is escorting one Miss Gill.

Los Angeles’ own superhero team, the Defenders are in attendance as well. Arriving with her team is Grace Danvers, daughter of Hollywood hunk Simon Williams and she is being escorted by teammate, Eiltin. The two Asgardian princesses and daughters of Thor, Asleif and Aridis, are also attending the festivities with their team.
Akilah Munore, the crown princess of Wakanda, is here tonight with her steady flame, Daniel Sherwood a member of the Young Avengers. The other Young Avengers are in attendance tonight with their dates, alongside the adult Avengers.

Donald Trump arrived with his wife and is one of many other famous faces to arrive. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Hugh Jackman, Jack Nicholson, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift are just a few celebrities who have made an appearance here tonight.

It’s truly a party of the who’s who and it’s all for a great cause.”

Morning came to New York and with it a brisk wind making it seem colder than it was. The weak winter sun did little to warm things up and a layer of frost covered cars and other objects left out in the cold winter air over night. The city that never slept was becoming more alive with activity as her residents started their daily routines.

High above the city the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier flew, keeping an eye on the city below.

It seemed like any other winter's morning in New York, but today would prove to be far from ordinary.

Not too far from where the battle between the Avengers and the Exiles took place, another group of travelers arrived. They received instructions on what they needed to do, much like the Exiles in that regard. The instructions were simple. Find and defeat a group of dimensional travelers before they could complete their mission.

The small team took cover and waited.

It wasn't long before a flash of white light appeared and a small group of six Avengers appeared.

With Charlie gone and as a male member of the Avengers, in addition to being the leader, it was up to James to uphold a few traditions that didn't have to deal with battling bad guys. Though he had to admit that he would rather be fighting bad guys than doing this. It just wasn't his thing.

He wasn't as industrious as Anya, but James had managed to collect the necessary photos. It hadn't been easy and a part of him felt like he was cheating on Val.

Invitations were sent to the Avengers, Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four, Champions, Excalibur the X-Men and the Defenders guys.

With the help of Jarvis food and drink was laid in. James made sure they had a wide variety of pizza, chips, pretzels and drinks.

He loaded the photos in and took care of the security systems. The girls were not allowed to watch. Now all that was left was people showing up.

Anya didn't have many traditions in her family, unless you counted being a bastard as one of them. The Avengers however did have a few time honored traditions that must be kept going. Sure saving the world from alien invasions, beating up the world level threats and other heroic things were some of those traditions, but not everything could be about beating up the bad guys. One such non-heroic thing was Rate the Hunk.

Each year the female Avengers got together and rated their fellow male Avengers. The new generation had eagerly picked up and kept this tradition going. However, they had expanded it a bit.

The day after Thanksgiving was a perfect day to avoid shopping crowds, take over the rec room, banish the males and look at pictures of them. Anya had run it last year and she took it upon herself to do it again this year. Invitations went out to fellow female heroes. Avengers, X-Women, Defenders, Champions and Thunderbolts all got invitations to come to New York to Rate the Hunk.

Food, drink and snacks were laid in. Signs were put up on the doors and electronic surveillance was set up to see if males dared to interrupt.

Anya settled in on one of the couches and queued up the stash of photos she had collected in the past year.

In America today is a day for being thankful for the things in people's lives. Today was a day to celebrate family, friends, prosperity and health with food, family and friends. It is a time to reflect on what is important us and to recognize the gratitude we hold for having those things in our lives.

Since their fight with the Masters of Evil, Kalypso had been feeling antsy. She had patrolled the streets a bit and broke up small crimes where she could, but she wanted something more. She liked being part of a team when the Avengers and Thunderbolts had fought the Masters of Evil. It had been thrilling and exhilarating and it was what she wanted on a full time basis. At least for now. She had plenty of time to do other things.

She had decided that after her birthday she would go to the Avengers and see about full time membership. Her birthday had come and went by quietly and it was time to act.

Kalypso arrived at the Avengers' mansion and went to see who was around.

Luna was curled up in an armchair in the Avenger's library, her nose buried in the first Sookie Stackhouse book. She had a steaming mug of hot tea resting on the table next to her, and a bowl of pretzels. She was wearing a red sweater and a pair of black sweatpants, and felt very comfortable.

Of course, she always felt comfortable when she was in a library or a bookstore. If there were books, Luna could get lost for hours.

All Hallow's Eve, or Halloween as it has been come to be called, is a popular holiday with children and adults alike. It is a holiday that had its roots in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain or Summer's End. Samhain celebrated the end of the "lighter half" of the year and the beginning of the "darker half".

On this evening the barriers between this world and the Otherworld were believed to be thin and the spirits, good and bad, of the dead could pass through. The spirits of the family's ancestors were welcomed in while evil and bad spirits were warded off by the wearing of masks and costumes. The costumes and masks disguised one as a harmful spirit and avoided harm from others.

It was also a harvest celebration and time to take stock of food stores for the winter. Livestock were slaughtered and the meat prepared for storage. It was the final harvest of the year and the crops were then stored for the winter. Celebrations included bonfires and tales of the family's ancestors.

It was a celebration of the dead and of the harvest.

Today we dress up in scary and not so scary costumes and masks and go door to door for candy or attend costume parties. It is a night for revelry, pranks and fun.

There was no question about it:  Akilah was going home to Wakanda to aid in the defense and imminent counterattack.  She had, luckily, learned how to fly the Quinjets.  All that she needed to do was let the Avengers know she was leaving.  She assumed it was a given to most of them, but she wrote a note and left it in the kitchen--as that was where they could al stumble upon it.  She was busy gathering what she needed to leave after leaving up the note.

The Masters of Evil had attacked the Thunderbolts headquarters and had made off with Victor's body and with it a way to eventually access Ultron's files on the Avengers. It was a situation where a collaboration of the Thunderbolts with another team was needed. They needed to get Victor's body back as soon as possible.

The Thunderbolts made the trip to New York and were gathered in the conference room at Avengers Mansion along with the Avengers. They needed to discuss strategy and form a plan to retrieve Victor's body.

Anya sat back in her chair and let her brother take the lead. James was more experienced with leading a team and if anyone could get them to all work together as one big team, he could.

next_avenger:

James had been planning this training session for some time. The idea wasn't his; he had gotten it from Sky High when Valeria made him watch it with her the other day. No matter where it came from, it would help the team. Sure he had the idea, but making the program to actually do it was beyond him, so he called in some help from his sister Anya.

James told her what he wanted and a few days later she had the program all ready for him. James had played around with the variables until he found something he liked. Once the program was set, he let the other Young Avengers know when the training session would be.

Saturday morning at 8am he was waiting in the training room for his teammates.

The air was warm and the sun was bright making it a perfect day for a cookout to celebrate Labor Day. Classes would start on the 8th (for those going to college they started a week ago) and it was the last chance to kick back and cut loose before hitting the books.

At the Avengers' Mansion in NYC Jarvis and some helpers he managed to rope into helping with the preparations were busy getting the food ready. Tables had been placed out around the pool and the large grill fired up to get nice and hot. Burgers, hot dogs, sausage, ribs, corn on the cob, pasta salad, salad and fruit salad were just some of the food available to eat. Soda, water, fruit juice and other beverages were on ice.

To help get to know each other the Thunderbolts received an invitation to attend.

It was a day of rest and relaxations for those who put their lives on the line for others.

A universe away

It was, all things considered, a good day to be one Stephanie "Stevie" Barton.  School was over and done with, she had a job she liked fixing cars (even discounting the money in her trust fund), Mom was off her back about doing more with her life for the moment (though the promise of a couple of business courses in the winter semester also seemed to at least temporarily placate Antonia Stark).  She'd managed to survive a shopping trip with MC (and reluctantly would admit she'd picked up a few good things on the trip too).  William Blake, the extremely hot son of Donald "I used to be Thor" Blake and Jane Foster was still her primary friend with benefits.  She had parts for the hot rod she was restoring coming in in the next couple of days.
