New Year's Eve Masquerade! For Tuesday

Octavius believed hiring someone to organise an event for him meant they would actually organise an event for him. Unfortunately, that notion proved to be a false one when the organiser left him high and dry in the middle of the month, but Octavius persevered. With the help of himself, Mira, occasionally Lottie Sweeting, and an army of lackeys, the night of the masquerade had come together as beautifully as possible.

Lottie had, for once, actually done her job, and at either entrance of the grand foyer were attendants handing out beautifully crafted half-masks to party-goers, and collecting them as people left. The ballroom was majestic and shimmering, the music was softly thrumming, the drinks were pouring, and the mood was infectious. All in all, Octavius thought, it was a satisfactory night to end a rather satisfactory year. After the chaos and excitement that had chased him all throughout 1983, he was rather happy to have had a (comparably) quiet year.

"Can you make sure Miss Warbeck is ready to begin?" he murmured to an attendant nearby who then scurried off. The Wizarding Wireless Network had, after all, promised a wonderful surprise at midnight! Octavius needed to ensure everything went perfectly.

The flash of a nearby photographer made Octavius scowl, annoyed was he at even the few press witches and wizards who had paid handsomely to be at the charity event tonight. The publicity was good, no one could deny that, and the masks concealed everyone's identity at least marginally so there was no grievous intrusion on privacy, but that didn't mean Octavius enjoyed their presence.

He rolled up the sleeve of his dress robe to check his watch, then his eyes darted back to the stage. It was five minutes to midnight! What, for heaven's sake, was Celestina Warbeck taking so long to appear onto an already dressed stage? Shaking his head agitatedly, Octavius cut through a path through the brightly coloured bodies in the mingling crowd to check on his star performer.

OOC Read this for questions, or ask me! Fluid time, so feel free to thread before/after kisses. Again, the "compulsion" to find your kissing partner kicks in 5-10 minutes before midnight and could be anything from thinking you should walk and get some punch to being mystifyingly sexually attracted to the masked stranger at your side. HAVE FUN! GO WILD ♥ AND HAPPY NEW YEAR'S MY GORGEOUS GALS.

For a small slice of time, Rose believed she had everything under control. Kendall had left St. Mungo's in a hurry, but that was fine, for his quick departure had given her the opportunity to fall back into her seat and process what he said. Not completely, of course, because it still very much felt like she had unknowingly stepped on a time-turning exploding snap, but enough that she could temper her emotions, think, and eventually disapparate home in one piece. She'd even managed to walk through the house calmly and quietly, repeating to herself that a good night's sleep would provide clarity for her overturned and perturbed thoughts. Yes, that would definitely help, and she would wake up in the morning with a clear mind and the ability to deal with every single emotion that was whirling through her mind.

And then, that slice of time ended, and Rose found herself standing awkwardly in her own bedroom, blankly staring at her semi live-in boyfriend. It had been decided that all thoughts of sharing tonight's events could wait until tomorrow, after already previously decided upon good night's sleep, but now, she could tell that wouldn't be so. The sight of Axe propped atop the bed (she would ignore the harem of cats he had surrounding him for the time being) made her mind sputter, and almost instantly her tightly packaged box of emotion within sprang open.

“Kendall just kissed me,” she blurted, and clutched her belongings closer to her chest. It was only now dawning on her just how upset she truly felt, how unsure and how... mislead? She felt. Her bottom lip wibbled as her mouth turned into a deep frown. What Kendall had said, and done, would change everything, their friendship wouldn't be the same now, and it made her sad to think--- guilty to think---

Her face felt hot, not out of embarrassment, but of misplaced hurt. Why had he--- how could he---? Despite trying very hard to fight against it, Rose's eyes turned watery. More words poured out of her mouth. “And told me he thinks he's in love with me,” she burst, finding that her voice sounded quite miserable to her own ears. Rose swallowed thickly in an attempt to mask it, but that just resulted in it sounding cracked and confused with her final words.

"What should I do?"

Halloween Haunted Castle Event! Open to Everyone!
While she wasn't particularly keen on parties, she was set on saving wildlife. Everyone else seemed to rake in the galleons by throwing large events, no matter the scandals that erupted from them, so why couldn't they? Nora had conservatory's committee for quite some time now, and being the youngest by a good forty years, had devised this plan as a new and fresh way of funding. It helped greatly that she had friends that had access to some of the best party planners (or that she could twist Charlie Spinnet's ear until he helped her out), and things seemed to have turned out well. So far.

For the brave at heart, there was a grand maze that made its way throughout the haunted castle. Guests would be offered clues to get themselves to the ballroom, and if they were truly lost (as Nora was sure was to occur), for just a small donation (it's for charity), any money dropped into a clue box would light up a blue path down the correct route to lead the way out. With all the Gryffindors that Nora had put on the guest list, she was sure they were going to triple their goal.

There was a simpler route than the maze, which was simply to walk through the double doors to the dance floor. Nora was currently wavering between the two, having run out of pamphlets to give out at the front entrance therefore giving her no excuse to join the festivities. She felt rather exposed, as Delilah had stolen her cloak, and when someone tapped her shoulder she jumped nearly a foot in the air.

"Bloody hell!" she let out, spinning around. "You scared the life out of me!"

Charity Dinner! Open to All! For Saturday!

for more information

He stared at his reflection in the back of the bar area, his face refracted by the different panes of glass. Henry had long left his assigned seat at a table full of some of the highest donors of the night. They had found it to be such an honor that he was seated with them, that to be dining beside someone who must be so strong to go through this travesty was something to brag about. Henry had silently and barely acknowledged them, allowing their obsession with themselves and their egos to draw the conversation away from him.

The empty glass cracked loudly against the counter of the bar as he finished the drink. Henry could feel himself starting to feel slow and sluggish, but if he was forced to be here then he was going to do it on his own terms. If that meant getting so pissed that he slept under the bar for the rest of the night, then so be it.

Someone slipped onto the stool beside him, but seeing as there was no one that Henry wished to speak to tonight, he dropped his gaze back to his empty glass and tapped the side so that it could magically fill up once more.

AXE!
Rose woke with a start, jolting up from her slumbering position against Axe's shoulder in a flourish. Blinking slowly, it took her a couple of seconds to collect her barrings, and let sink in where she was and why she was there.

"Did they unfreeze England yet?" she asked groggily, rubbing her eyes with one hand. With the other, she clutched her new journal in her lap tightly, too afraid of missing a potential message from Kendall to let go of it. Or, miss any kind of update for that matter, for once she had gotten her hands on it, it had become quite clear how in the dark she had become over the past two months concerning her homestead and the people she cared about in it. A small, tired frown formed on her face at that thought, and to distract herself, she let her eyes rove over the scene before them.

With all the people that were being denied back into the country, it appeared that the Ministry, or the British Embassy in Egypt, it was unclear, had created something of a free-standing waiting area at the usual portkey drop off/pick up area back to the UK. And, from the looks of it, some witches and wizards had been here for many days, while others only a few hours like her and Axe, and many in between. It was a stroke of luck that no one had seemed to recognize them yet, and if they had, hadn't bothered to do anything about it, which she appreciated.

Letting out a heavy sigh, Rose ran her fingers through her hair and tossed it over her shoulder in an attempt to wake herself up faster. And, look more appealing, because if she had fallen asleep, that must mean it was time for her hourly bribing and berating of the portkey staff. She supposed it seemed silly to wait and demand for something that didn't look like would happen anytime soon, but what else could she do? They strictly weren't letting anyone into the country, which she refused to accept, because she was getting back into England and they were going to find Thomas, so---

"What time is it?" she muttered, turning to face Axe.

Axe!
Charlie bit back his groan as he watched the extra set of weights magically slide onto his bar. He'd already reached his usual limit, but with the playoffs fast approaching, it was no surprise that his captain was pushing him harder. The training area was empty besides the two of them, for now, and Charlie liked it that way. His other teammates always managed to distract him; at least with Axe he knew he could get seriously clobbered if he lost track of his regiment. As Axe spotted him, because what good was lifting weights when you knew they couldn't crush your chest because of spells, Charlie huffed, face turning red with exertion.

His eyes shut tightly as he lifted the bar off of its ledge and sucked in a deep breath.

"You're---going---to---" he pushed his arms forward, using all of his strength to raise the bar once more, "--kill----me!"

Somehow, he'd managed to lift the bar back up and before another weight could slide onto either end Charlie sat up and pushed himself to the end of the bench. Taking deep breaths, he grabbed for the nearest towel to wipe the sweat off his face. He looked over his shoulder at Axe with winded grin, "Are you looking to break both my arms?

Axe's Anniversary of Birth!!!!
Charlie was pretty sure he'd missed out on a wonderful career as a party planner. As he stared out at the dance floor, which he stood over on a platform where the DJ was spinning a mix of wizard and muggle music (even with some popular French songs that were actually pretty catchy if Charlie said so himself). He wasn't surprised at how many people showed up, but it still nearly startling to see how bloody happy everyone was to be there! Sure, some looked ridiculous with the fake mustaches that were passed out (not required, obviously), but a lot had actually grown out their beards and it was----cool, they tried, they wanted to be there and they wanted to have a good time. Charlie wanted to have a good time.

The Kestrels were not top of the pack, and while he believed in his team completely, the stress of the numbers had been getting to them. A night like this was necessary, and maybe it could rejuvenate the team that had lost some valuable members this season and had done a bit of shifting around. They were still trying to get themselves into place, and it needed to happen faster than it was.

Plus, Axe had been pissy all week that no one had acknowledged the anniversary of his birth.

Charlie grabbed the mic from the DJ and grinned, enjoying colorful scene laid out in front of him. funkybuddha club had been a perfect choice for the night, "Don't everyone tire themselves out! There's still a lot more festivites to look forward to!"
