After a riveting six-week trial, Draco Malfoy has been cleared of any wrong-doing in the death of Albus Dumbledore. A jury ruled today that Malfoy, a sixteen-year-old student at the prestigious Hogwarts School in Scotland, acted only in self-defense after being provoked by the former Headmaster. A team of top legal minds worked together to convince the jury that the previously esteemed Dumbledore was in fact a danger to both Malfoy, Professor Severus Snape, and the student body as a whole.
When questioned about the verdict, Narcissa Malfoy was obviously relieved. “It’s been an absolute nightmare,” she said, moments after hearing the news. “We’ve known all along that our poor boy has been innocent. We are delighted that justice has been served, and are thoroughly pleased with the system.”
These comments come days after Prime Minister Tom Riddle himself publicly denounced Albus Dumbledore, calling him a ‘loony’ and a ‘safety hazard to all those he’d come in contact with’. Public speculation about Dumbledore’s personal life and sexuality have been splashed in the tabloids since his death, with some suggesting… (Continued on A4).

Dumbledore Murder Trial: Week Two
Hogwarts student charged with the murder of his ex-Headmaster pleads self-defense
With what is being lauded as “the trial of the year” a week underway, analysts have begun to speculate whether or not Draco Malfoy’s self-defense plea will win over the appointed panel of jurors. Both the crown and defense attorneys went through an arduous process of screening, considering the high-profile nature of the case, in an attempt to ensure a fair and speedy trial. With Professor Severus Snape said to be the star witness for the Defense, it is as of yet unclear if Harry Potter, the night’s only other witness, will step forward in time to recount his own version of the evening’s events.
Despite optimism on the part of the Crown, who insists that Potter has been contacted and will be testifying, credibility has been shed on the boy by leading members of the Britain legal system and even, according to several sources, Prime Minister Riddle himself. – (CONTINUED ON A3)

The only thing worse than a teenager with an entitlement complex was a teenager with an entitlement complex in distress. The only thing worse than that was, naturally, two teenagers with entitlement complexes in distress and in adjacent beds. Between kids trying to use dodgeball as an excuse to score painkillers and the mob with legitimate injuries and illnesses, Madam Pomfrey would have had to have been in ten different places at once to take care of everyone in a timely manner.
Well, that just won't do. Does she know who they are?
"Excuse me!" Daphne called. When a split-second pause didn't yield an answer, she tried again a little louder. And again. And again. By then, her voice had reached a full-on scream. "EXCUSE ME! WHAT SORT OF INFIRMARY IS THIS? MY BROTHER IS DYING! I AM DYING! WE ARE DYING!"

As you know, Eddie turned 18 today and Harrison's birthday is tomorrow. Shirley and I have been planning a joint party for the boys that will take place tomorrow night in the common room. We've got games and a fabulous cake baked by Shirley and of course, refreshments (of the non-alcoholic variety). It will start 8 in the evening and I know it's really short notice, but I need some volunteers to keep the boys out of the common room between 6:30 and 8:00 so we can decorate and set up. Anyone?
