biography. In the summer of 1982, Katherine Nichols was on top of the world. She had just graduated at the top of her class from Barnstable High, and was getting ready to attend Boston College in the fall. She was spending the summer working for the Hyannis Mets, when she met and fell in love with Theodore Collins III. He was 20, and spending his cape summer playing for the league before he was slated to go back to Oklahoma State in the fall. Theo wasn't like the cape guys that Katherine was used to. He was a southern gentleman in every sense of the word, and Katherine fell head over heels. He treated her like a princess in those summer months, and Katherine was convinced that he was going to be the man that she spent the rest of his life with. But as all summer romances do, this one ended. There was no particular reason - they just didn't want to go through the craziness of having a long distance relationship. It wasn't until her second month at BC that something wasn't sitting right with Katherine. Turns out, she was pregnant. She called up Theo, and he wasn't willing to have anything to do with their child...so Katherine did what any other silly 18 year old would do and decided to go at it alone. It was her baby, and she wanted to keep it. Katherine left BC that winter, and moved back to the Cape immediately. She spent those last few months at her parents house, figuring out what she was going to do with the rest of her life and her unborn child. Then, on May 15, 1983...a screaming little bundle of joy that she named Jennifer Nichols entered the world. She was a happy baby, and her mother's entire world. Katherine worked her ass off daily to give Jenn everything she could ever have wanted. It was tough at times but the two made it work. When Jenn was three, they finally got to move out of Katherine's parents house to a little place of their own in Hyannis. Katherine ended up getting as a receptionist in a local law office. It was there where she met the second love of her life - Thomas Mason. Thomas became a father figure to Jenn, she loved him more than anything so it was no question that when Thomas and Katherine got married, Jenn took on his last name. When Jenn was five, they got the opportunity to move off of the Cape and moved up to Boston right before she started first grade. Boston was perfect for the new family. Jenn fell right into place with her schooling and met the girl that would eventually become her best friend in the first week. Elemtary and middle school were nothing that special for Jenn, she just lived the way any little would. She was a little shy, but that didn't stop her from making friends with anyone that came across her path. It wasn't until she entered high school that Jenn kind of came into her own. With the help of her best friends, she became a little less shy and a little more opinionated. She wasn't afraid to say what she needed, when she needed to say it. She became insanely involved at school, working with the student council and running for the cross country team. It was when she was running that her head became completely clear. It was like the rest of the world fell away and all she could concentrate on is what was in her head and run. Jenn was one of those girls that thought high school was her prime, and she never wanted to leave. When it came time to go to college, the only place Jenn even thought about going was The University of Connecticut. And since her grades were top notch - she was able to get in. It was close enought that she was still able to get home anytime she wanted, but still far enough away where she felt like she was still getting the college experience. Her time at UConn was insane, but Jenn wouldn't have changed any of it. She was majoring in Marketing, and when she wasn't studying her ass off - kept her tradition of being completely involved in the school. She became an RA and a sister of Alpha Phi, she was a member of the track team and started her own running club in the off season; it seemed like every day of her life was filled to the brim with things to do. When it came time to leave UConn, Jenn was sad - but she couldn't wait to get back to her hometown of Boston. There was no real decision to make in going back to Boston. It was the only place that Jenn knew of that she ever wanted to live. So she moved into a small apartment in Southie, got a job bartending at the Junction and was able to somehow pay all her bills from that (and maybe a little help from her parents). One day at work, she found out that her booze supplier was moving on to bigger and better things, so Jenn jumped on the chance to make the tranistion from being just a plain old bartender to working in the other side of the industry. Today, she works as a district manager for Horizon Beverage - suppling many bars in the South Boston/Boston/South Shore area with the booze they need to make their customers happy. As for the future, Jenn has no idea. She just wants to live her life and be happy with everything she does. storylines. Since Lauren only has brothers, these two became the sisters that neither of them ever had. Aubbrey Martin • One of Jenn's best friends from high school.
