Ryan Shoppach, a native of Portland, Oregon, was born to Jim and Diane Shoppach on July 24, 1981. In earlier age, Ryan was not very comfortable with performing. In grade school performances, he often suffered from stage fright and was afraid of being put in the spotlight. He had been a quiet child that had been afraid of having the center of attention. As Ryan got older, he had learn to overcome it while performing with his school's choir. After an exceptional solo performance, Ryan had been encouraged to audition for a school musical, and as they say, the rest is history.
Not wanting to turn down an education, Ryan packed up and attended college at UCLA, majoring in theater. It had been convienient for him to attend college there, after relocating to LA while filming the movie Cruel Intentions. Still opting to work on school before his career, the momentum slowed, but still had offers coming in as he returned to film with 2001's Soul Survivors and 2002's The Rules of Attraction. After taking the small roles, Ryan ventured into television, where he worked on a string of teen dramas such as One Tree Hill and Friday Night Lights.
After a moderately successful run on television (which included a critically acclaimed run as Jason Street on NBC's Friday Night Lights), Shoppach resumed his film career, which had been given a little more padding with a starring role in London, along with a starring turn in Cloverfield. Shoppach even displayed some comedy chops as the co-star of 2008's Pineapple Express, playing stoner Saul Silver. In addition to that, Shoppach can also be seen in the upcoming Battleship as Lt. Alex Hopper.
In his personal time, Shoppach is an avid baseball fan, a supporter of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and can be seen at several games when he can get out. He has also participated in celebrity softball games and is also known as a diehard Anaheim Ducks fan.
