It was an overly warm summer's day in mid July when Lilly Montgomery's water broke and started a chain reaction of events that would eventually lead to the birth of the family's second child, and only girl. Isabella Charlotte Montgomery was born in the early morning hours of April 22, 1981. The entire pregnancy, Lilly and Scott Montgomery had expected another little boy, and were rather surprised to hear the doctor announce 'It's A Girl!" upon the arrival of the baby. Their shock was short lived, and both quickly fell head over heels for the little girl born with bright brown eyes and a head full of dark hair.

Growing up, Belle as she was known by her family and friends, was something of a quiet child. She loved to read. So much so that by the time she was in grade school, she was reading books at a much higher level then her classmates. She loved to fish with her father and to go to baseball games with him as well. The sport was always her favorite, even as she got older and became an adult. One of her favorite things to do was watching the boats coming in and out of the sound, something she would do for hours at a time. When Belle was twelve, her father was offered a job by the LA Dodgers as a PR rep and decided to take it. As much as the family loved living in Seattle, he thought they would be better off in LA, not to mention it was warmer. So the family packed up and moved. At first, Belle had a lot of trouble adjusting to living in the city, after growing up in a smaller community but she quickly adapted. Her father had quickly adjusted to life in LA enjoying his new position, while her mother was a stay at home mom/day care provider.

Not long after they moved, Belle decided to attend an open call for a new movie that was filming. She had always enjoyed school plays and figured why not. What she hadn't expected was to actually land the part of Dani in Hocus Pocus. But land it she did. As her parents later said, that was the end of that. She had been bitten by the acting but and there was no looking back after that. She picked up a role in a new TV show not long after and was soon cast as Claudia in Party Of Five. Belle grew up in front of the camera, having her first kiss on set. But when asked about it in interviews, she's been quoted as saying she wouldn't have it any other way.

After Party of Five wrapped, and right before her 20th birthday, Belle left for New Zealand to film The Lord of The Rings trilogy. She spent almost three years in the country working and fell in love with it, often visiting when she can to explore the country more then she had been able too during her time there. Though she wasn't needed on set everyday, Belle stayed on location, often hanging out with her friends when she wasn't needed on set. The Rings movies were a jumping off point for her, and landed her on the Hollywood radar for her portrayal of the elvish princess, Arwen.

After her return to LA, she took some time off from movies and tv to relax. She had been going nonstop for years and according to her, wanted to spend a little more time with friends and family. Following a year's absence from both film and TV, she accepted the role as Dr. Temperance Brennan on a new TV showed called Bones. As always, Belle threw herself into her work taking on movie roles when something crossed her desk that she found interesting.
