SHADOWS ALL AROUND YOU AS YOU SURFACE FROM THE DARK
Gareth Canton and Arwyn Price aren't your typical love story. They aren't your typical anything, really. Gareth met her when he was 30 and she was 26 through a close mutual friend, and while he was instantly taken with her, Arwyn could not have been less interested - though, honestly, it wasn't entirely his fault. She was a lesbian and had been in a secret long-term relationship with a woman, Crystin Iwan, for the past few years or so, something the pair kept under wraps because both parents were very conservative. Arwyn went on a few dates with him simply because she felt bad about it, but quickly confessed that she had no interest in him, and never would. However, they grew very close regardless, and became extremely close friends. He, despite knowing that she was a lesbian, was in love with her for the next year and a half or so, before he finally came to terms with the fact that nothing was ever going to happen there, and he started dating a woman his mother set him up with.
However, shortly after Arwyn's 28th birthday, she showed up at Gareth's in tears, and while he assumed Crystin had broken up with her, it was because Arwyn's mother had spent the past three and a half hours berating her for not being married with children yet. She was the only child in her family, and the fact that she hadn't given her parents grandchildren was weighing on her, and Gareth could tell. In a moment of weakness and probably insanity, he proposed a plan - he would marry Arwyn, and they could have a child together, to please her parents. She could still see Crystin, and he could see other people, it would just be a little facade they put on for their parents. She was against it at first, but after discussing it with Crystin, she came around. Gareth and Arwyn married in a small, intimate ceremony with only their family in attendance. They bought a nice house in Swansea, close to Crystin's home, and Arywn found out she was pregnant only a few months later.
Siana Gwendolen Canton was born on October 10th, 1978, and her parents could not have been more thrilled. She was their little saving grace, proof that Arwyn could do something right in her parent's eyes. From the very beginning, Siana was always a dramatic little thing, and her parents predicted she'd wind up an actress when she was just four years old. They put her into acting and dancing classes just so she'd have something to do while they were working, and she instantly took to them. Their second child, Eiryls, was born that same year, and Siana was thrilled to have a playmate. The sisters have always been very close, and to this day still keep in extremely regular contact. Gareth and Arwyn did a fairly good job keeping their little side lives a secret, and Crystin eventually phased into the family, simply known as Aunt Crystin. The girls adored her, which Gareth and Arwyn took as a good sign, and as soon as Siana and Eiryls were what Gareth and Arwyn considered old enough (Siana was 17 and Eiryls was 14), they sat their children down and explained the situation to them. Aunt Crystin was actually Arwyn's girlfriend, and Gareth was currently seeing a woman . Siana was oddly calm about the whole thing, probably in part because she'd come out to the family as bisexual a few months earlier and had always sensed something was off with her parents, but Eiryls was furious. She screamed and cried and locked herself in her room for a few days, devastated that their parents would let them live a lie like that. Siana managed to soothe her and coax her out of her room, and after another few weeks of adjusting, Eiryls slowly came to terms with it.
With the time to apply to university rapidly approaching for Siana, she sat her parents down and explained that she just didn't think it was right for her. After hanging out on the various sets her father had been on, she'd quickly decided she wanted to be an actress, and wanted to forgo university - for the time being - for it. While initially taken back due to the fact that she had incredibly good marks, they knew that stubborn as she was there was no hope of changing her mind, and let her get her own place and try to break into the acting world. She moved to Los Angeles with her then-boyfriend, and was albeit very dejected when she didn't get anything for the first year she was there. She had a few random commercials here and there, but nothing that people would ever recognize her for. And then, on a dare, she let her agent get her an audition for the movie Titanic. She was surprised when they liked her and called her back, eventually offering her the role of Rose DeWitt Bukater. She'd only skimmed the script once and was less than taken with it, and almost turned it down, before her parents intervened and insisted she take it - that was what she fucking skipped university for, they told her. Once she actually began filming, she fell in love with the story and thanked her lucky stars she'd been talked into it.
After filming wrapped, however, she did continue to university. She applied to various colleges in the United States, England and Wales before settling on Brown University, graduating with a degree in British Literature. Right after graduation, she was offered the role of Miranda Frost in the James Bond movie Die Another Day, which she accepted literally instantly. She became enamored with acting all over again, and the auditions flowed almost constantly. She started asking her agent to just give her auditions for anything - she didn't care what it was, she'd audition for anything. Her third role came in Finding Neverland, which she to date says was her favorite film she's done, mostly due to the fact that she got to work with Johnny Depp, and isn't that every girl's dream come true?
She had a few more film roles after that, and while her name was becoming more and more well known, the publicity that came with it was altogether unnerving for her. She was never the kind of person that enjoyed the media frenzy, and has always been very private about her own life, so she starting trying her best to fly under the radar. Most of her time was spent in Wales and England, as it's much easier to keep a low profile over there than in the United States, and Los Angeles quickly became the bane of her existence. In 2008, Siana found out she was pregnant by her boyfriend at the time, ???, a fellow actor. She was less than thrilled at first, because she had An Education to start filming soon, but after a few days of coming to terms with the idea, she quickly became attached to the idea. When she was about five months along and was preparing to confirm the pregnancy rumors (she'd only told a very few select people up until that point), she suffered a miscarriage. She fell into a deep depression, particularly after her boyfriend broke things off with her, and filming for An Education was temporarily stalled. After a few weeks, though, she bounced back - or at least visibly bounced back - and filming resumed. She's since made her peace with the miscarriage, although it was less than easy to do.
Siana's currently filming as Dr. Erin Mears in Contagion, and is slated to begin filming for God of Carnage in the near future.
