bridget o'reilly -- gigi as she was so affectionately called by her father and mother alike, was the second child of the small o'reilly family. never would one find another couple more at ease with one another as liam and lilia, the irish born pair who shared one heart. the blue eyed blond was the absolute apple of her father's eye, having the man wrapped around her tiny figure from the day she was born. born just two years after brother bristol, the small age gap was something that helped to keep the children close. after all, the small girl would be rather dependent on him in childhood. perhaps it was a bit of annoyance to him but, rarely was one seen without the other. however, bridget truly did look up to the older boy and would often seek him out in times of trouble. it would just be a pity then in the most desperate time for the family, the two would be unable to keep up that same repertoire.
bridget was only twelve years old when her father was brutally murdered outside of their home but it was something that she would forever remember. at a ballet recital at the time of the incident, the young girl was alarmed by the sight of a teary eyed dance teacher waiting in wing. when she was escorted from stage at the end of her performance, the news was dropped like an atomic bomb and she fell to pieces. with a mother who was in far worse shape, the job of keeping it together fell upon the shoulders of her older brother. perhaps it was wrong that it soley fell upon him but, what else could have been done? bridget was barely old enough to care for herself, let alone to care for others around her. the idea of getting a job at such a young age was ludicrous. even more upsetting was the fact that, at the age of fourteen, she was moved from her home to a boarding school thousands of miles away. while it would have been an honor for the young girl, she was just broken by the fact that she was removed from all that she loved and cared for and dropped into a place that was utterly unfamiliar and strange.
the move wasn't all sour, however. bridget, always rather clever, took it as an opportunity to reinvent herself. she wouldn't have to be the young girl who relied on the strength of others to pull herself along. she soon learned the art of being opinionated and speaking up. while falling into touch with a group of rowdy classmates, she would fall away from her family. her relationship with bristol was strained by the pressures of life and the resentment she had for her home life destroyed. while she knew it wasn't his fault, it was easy to place the blame on him. it certainly helped to create distance and to continue on this journey of starting a new life for herself.
upon graduation, bridget joined a few classmates on a roadtrip across the country. it wasn't the most glamorous of arrangements, a few kids piled into two vans but it was new and it was exciting. she, along with a good friend, would frequent local open mic nights. as dancing was something that bridget had distanced herself from, she used her voice as an outlet. described as sweet and sad, her voice compared with her angelic good looks made her a hit among the small crowded bars. years were spent bouncing around from one town to another, the group dwindling smaller and smaller as funds ran low and they each grew tired. by the time girl made plans to settle into a town and figure what to do with herself, she was pushing on 22 and had absolutely no idea what to do with herself. it was a phone call from her estranged brother that brought the girl to new york.

quick facts
• often tells people she was named after famous french actress, brigitte bardot. however, she was actually named after her grandmother on her father's side.
• loves all things vintage. she made quite a few visits to antique shops and estate sales during her cross country travels thus amounting to quite a collection of her own. a favorite piece is an old art deco inspired engagement ring that she wears almost always. majority of her clothes were also found this way.
• has a strange love affair with hair dye. however, she only seems to float between two extremes... platinum blond or raven black. while it may be unhealthy for her hair, she changes between the two rather frequently.
• prefers the atmosphere of a smokey dive bar over a thumping club. her go to drink is a whiskey sour though she is a sucker for some cheap wine.
• picked up the habit of smoking when she was nineteen. while this is typically something she only does in social situations, it has gotten to be a bit more of a frequent vice as she's aged.
