Corine Chabon was born December 29th, 1988 in Portland, Oregon, the third child to Ellen Henning and Henry Chabon. When the girl was only four, the family packed up and moved to Los Angeles, to follow the dreams of most of the family. Unfortunately, Corine did not share those dreams. While her father wanted to be a screenwriter, both her siblings actors, and her mother a manager, it just wasn't what she wanted to do. She missed Oregon, and even at that young age never referred to LA as home. Still, despite it not interesting her at all, she got dragged into the industry at a very young age. Had she been a little older, she would have been able to better express to her parents that she didn't want to act, but instead she did what was asked of her, despite how unhappy it made her.
She started in commercials, before landing her first major role in the movie 'Matilda'. It was a curse, really, that she was actually good. Had she been terrible, she never would have been cast in a single thing, but she was a bit of a natural actress. This curse of hers continued until she was a teenager, when she finally put her foot down and told her parents, quite dramatically, that she would "never act again." She insisted that if they continued booking her auditions, even if they dragged her there, she just wouldn't speak, or she would intentionally do horrendously so she would not be cast. She was an actress, after all. She was fairly confident she could pull off bad acting. It was a bit of a tantrum on her part, sure, but she had been more or less forced into doing something she didn't love for most of the fifteen she'd been alive. Of course she snapped. What she wanted more than anything was a normal life. Because she'd always been so busy, she didn't have friends, she'd never had a boyfriend, she'd never had any of the things regular teenagers got to experience, and that was all she wanted. After a bit of a fight, her parents finally gave in. Unfortunately for Corine, however, that normal life would still have to wait.
Music kind of fell into her lap, to be quite honest. Sure, she'd taken guitar lessons for a few years, but she never really thought it was a talent. She only started singing after her sister begged her to help out. Her sister had been doing relatively fine on her own, writing songs, playing guitar, a one woman operation. When she started to record demos on her computer, however, she felt she needed a slightly more full sound. After a few songs were done, her sister put the songs on myspace. Not long after they hit the internet, people started to notice. A lot of people did, in fact. Her sister wound up winning a contest hosted by the site to be a myspace act on the Vans Warped Tour. Concerned she could no longer perform the songs alone, she dragged Corine along, and things really took off from there. What started as a side project became a full time commitment, the sisters cranking out albums and EPs practically every year since 2005. In 2010, the girls were dropped from their label. While she might be completely off, Corine has always taken the blame for this, for letting the label know she wanted to get back into film full time. Which, to label executives translated to "will no longer make money for us."
All the years out of the film industry had made her miss it, in a way. She owed her parents an apology. After all the girls fighting and insistence she hated acting, they couldn't understand how she seemed so excited about the very thing she'd hated not long before. But the truth of the matter was, and what Corine realized, was that it was never acting that she hated. It was being forced into it that she'd hated. Unlike any of her previous roles, these new projects would be her choice. After a second long talk with her parents, they decided Corine should give acting a shot again, only this time with much less influence and involvement from her parents, although her mother does still manage her.
Now she's balancing a full time movie career with her music, but seeing as her sister has also gone off to bigger and better things, she's in no real rush to start touring again. Their band is by no means broken up, they're just taking a hiatus from touring, but still plan on releasing material from time to time.
