Biography.

BACKGROUND INFO Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts to a corporate lawyer and a golddigger of a mother, Connor spent his childhood wanting for very little. In fact, he never wanted anything, since everything he asked for he was given without question. His parents were more concerned with keeping him happy then dealing with him, so Connor spent the vast majority of his childhood in the company of his younger twin sister, Coraline. Despite the fact that Connor used to pull her around the house by her hair and spit loogies in her face, the two continue to have a very close relationship. Through his youth, Connor’s mother stayed medicated and his father stayed employed, meaning that the family as a whole stayed rich and the Severtson children stayed neglected. It was an easy life, and given the company of Coraline, a rather fun one as well.

Connor was an exemplary student until the age of twelve. It was around that age that he began to fully understand the breadth of his father’s wealth and the fact that, once he turned twenty-one, a very large sum of it would come into his possession. Convinced that he would never have to world a day in his life, Connor became lazy and unmotivated, instead focusing his energy on being as disruptive as possible. His teachers complained, sent letters home, but with no success. Connor’s father didn’t care and his mother was in a permanent bubble, so she was practically incapable of raising children, let alone managing to discipline her children.

After graduating from highschool and turning eighteen, Connor moved to Europe for a year, backpacking and partying and seducing cute foreign girls on his father’s dime. College, while having once been on his radar, was something he was no longer concerned with. It was during this time that Connor began to dabble in drugs, though it wasn’t until his explosion onto the Hollywood scene after the release of The O.C. in 2003 that it became a problem. After spending a little over a year in Europe, primarily Amsterdam, Connor returned to the United States, this time with his sights set on Los Angeles. He began renting his own place and settled into a nice routine, only bothering to get a job once his father threatened to cut him off if he didn’t. It was his job as a waiter at an upscale Los Angeles restaurant that ended up being his big break, and it was for the better, since Connor often considered himself “too good” to be serving people their food.

Connor, having been noticed while working, was recruited to audition for The O.C., his boyish good-looks and curly hair making him a perfect candidate for the role of Seth Cohen. He was lucky, that having been his first television audition (or audition, ever), to get the role without question. Acting was never a career that Connor had seen for himself, and while he was never extraordinarily talented, he was very, very funny and fortunately for him, that was enough for him to go on. From day one, Connor hated Seth Cohen, feeling marginalized and like an outcast; the experience jaded him, created a fervent hatred of all teen comedies and from then on, Connor refused to partake in one ever again. Fortunately for him, he was offered a different role in 2005 – that of Ted Mosby on How I Met Your Mother. To date, he does not regret his decision to take the part, finding that it gave him a little more room to breathe. That, and he enjoyed New York a great deal more than Los Angeles, despite his unnatural hatred for the Yankees and their fans.

After a great deal of joy after The O.C. was cancelled in 2007, Connor set his sights higher and began to branch out into movies, his first being Role Models. Since he was by no means an incredibly talented person, and Connor was smart enough to know this, he limited himself to comedy, seeing no reason why he would expose his lack of talent to the world. Since then, Connor has become more and more busy, especially with the introduction of Community to the world. It is, to this date, Connor’s favourite production, and he is slowly (but surely) beginning to appreciate the amount of work that goes into the creation of a television show.
