biography

When you're born to the biggest stage parents in the Pacific Ocean, you're bound to be a Hollywood star. This was exactly the case for Briony Irene, who was born to two loving parents who immediately wanted to exploit the beauty of their blonde-haired, bright blue eyed baby girl. They had already found mild success with their son, Briony's older brother, and even though the two were both still under six years old, their family knew they could create big stars out of their children. Briony was born in Australia, the same place that her parents are from, but she knows little of her birthplace. Ever since she was a little girl, she spent most of her time in Los Angeles. At some times, her and her family stayed in small motels for weeks on end, just so that Bri could attend an audition; McDonald's ad with a little girl enjoying her happy meal, or Jello ad with a little girl making it "jiggle". Briony's older brother, on the other hand, was propelling his way through the child acting field, and had managed to land a few acting gigs in major motion pictures.

But nothing lasts forever. Eventually, the family's luck had run out, and they returned to Sydney Australia when Bri was about six. Sometimes, her mother and her brother would head back over to L.A., and Bri would stay in Sydney with her father. As a result, Bri was always closest to her dad, quickly becoming a Daddy's Girl, and asking her father for anything she could imagine. He spoiled her as best as he could, especially when her mother left for their "business trips" in Los Angeles. Bri may not have been in the spotlight much at this time, but she was still an outgoing, naturally adept performer who loved attention. At a young age, she began singing along to everything she heard on the radio. She was in school pageants and plays, and she even had the chance to sing on a local radio station.

Her father became very protective of his daughter, and he made Bri's mother promise that she wouldn't put their daughter into show business until she was much older. He was seeing what the music industry especially was doing to young girls, and he was fearful of his daughter ending up on MTV, shaking it in booty shorts and a crop top. Maybe he was exaggerating just a bit, but still, he couldn't take the chance. Regardless of what he wanted, however, the women in his family had a different plan. Bri's mother eventually began to nurture her daughter's interest in music, and Bri again started to attend the trips to Los Angeles when she was only 14 years old.

While sitting in a lobby for a movie that her brother was auditioning for, Bri was asked if she would read for a role. Her mother was more than eager to push the girl into the eyes of the casting agents, and as a result, the young girl wowed her way into the cast of The Baby-Sitter's Club. At the news of this, Bri's father was absolutely furious, but the family as a whole finally made the move to Los Angeles and began to call America their new home. A few other movie roles would come Bri's way, and for a moment her singing career had been put on hold. As long as her manager was tossing the roles her way, her mother was more than eager to send Bri off on the auditions.

Turns out she was an okay actress, and life in Hollywood was happy for Bri. But life at home was a different story. Her parents no longer saw eye to eye on many topics, and they fought often. Their family is a very passionate family, and when they fought, they fought. Things were thrown at walls (or at people), voices were screamed as loud as they could go, and more than once their arguments had prompted domestic disturbance calls. Bri's family life was a complete nightmare. She began immersing herself in her work, spending most of her time on the set, and when she couldn't be on set anymore, she vowed to find a recording studio in which to spend her time.

Briony found a young producer when she was only 16. She spent a lot of time in his studio, much more time than was appropriate for a girl her age and a man his age. Her father was clearly unhappy with this, and when Bri was home, he yelled at her and forbid her to spend so much time with this man. But Bri would have much rather been in that studio than at home, in the middle of the shit-fest that was her family life. Eventually, she started writing songs, and she worked on her first album, all ready to go by the time she was 17 years old.

At this point her relationship with her family was strained, at best. She blasted her mother in interviews, blaming the woman for making her grow up too quickly. She called her older brother a puppet who followed her parents' every command, and she called her father a zombie who wouldn't stand up for himself. At the same time, she battled the rumors that abounded her and her very illegal producer boyfriend. Of course, Bri didn't mean all of the horrible things she had said. She was depressed and felt alienated by her family's constant bickering. And like any other teenage girl, she acted out.

The next few years were rocky at best. She produced two more albums with her boyfriend (they denied their relationship 'til they were blue in the face, but the minute Bri turned 18, it was confirmed.) She dropped out of her home school program because she didn't see the point in it anymore. But after her third album in 2006, things started to get shaken up again. She was spending a lot of time working, and not so much time with her boyfriend. The two had a very messy, very public split in 2007, and Bri set out to work with others in the industry.

A new sound and one new album later, and she was back to her regular self. She had constantly claimed to vow off men in interviews, though despite this, she has still been rumored in more than one dating rumor. Bri tries her best to stay off the grid and keep her private life private, but her incessant need for attention thwarts these plans at any chance she gets. She's trying her best to grow up, even if she should have had the chance to grow up years ago. Her mother and father have long been divorced, and she misses her father terribly. Eventually she figured out a way to apologize to him for the things he has said, but her relationship with her family hasn't changed much. And it's probably not going to change, not so long as she is still in the spotlight, still placing her career as her main priority, still loving the attention of the Hollywood world -- no matter how negative that attention can be.
