SHAPESHIFTERS
The history of shape-shifters has been changed and diluted so much that it is truly difficult to say for sure the true origin of these complex beings. Although the most common story told is that they derive from werewolves, a shared mutant gene being altered through the long years of evolution. Most shape-shifters claim that this is a mere old wives tale and that they are not, in fact, related to the more savage race. They have been around since the fall of the Roman Empire and the most common shifters turn into animals. However, there have been cases of people shifting into insects (arachnids) such as spiders and butterflies. Usually the animal (or in some cases insects/arachnids) take the form a an animal that reflects the person's personality. They can change at will and by the full moon.
