- The day that Adrian Ward was born was the best day in Daniel’s life, or so he told every single guy in his unit. His first born, a little boy. Perfect in every way, a handful… and surprisingly instead of being a perfect little mommies boy, he was very attached to his father. Which would have made sense, considering he did not get to see his father often.
- Adrian’s acting out began when he entered into Elementary school. His father was beginning to work more hours, aiming to get his detectives badge, which he gained by the time Adrian was in the second grade. He expected his son, and his daughter, who was born three years after Adrian, to live and breathe by his strict code of conduct for the children of a police detective. They were supposed to be the role models among their friends, not ringleaders of troublemakers.

- Halfway through his Sophomore year of school Adrian was picked up when police raided a rave, dropped off by a couple cops who knew Adrian’s dad. A favor from one cop to another. The argument that happened was, at that time, the worst. It ended with Adrian backhanded transferred for the rest of that school year into Sandy Run in Texas, a place Daniel knew well from many troubled kids coming through his department getting court orders to go there to reform, since it had such a high success rate. He hoped half a year would be enough to straighten out his partying son.
- At Sunny Run Adrian… blossomed, one could say. He took to the way they treated him and the others spectacularly, loving the attention he got from small infractions. Under them he did straighten out, minus his bits of purposeful wrong doings in order to be… ‘punished’. While there he became abnormally attached to ____ _____, a staff member at the center. It seemed Adrian displaced his need for fatherly attention on him, but in a more sexual fashion.
- When Adrian left Sunny Run at the end of the year he was sad, and upon returning home entered into this kind of manic acting out of his depression. At first, his family didn’t notice. He seemed good, coming home, doing his homework, going out with ‘friends’. They didn’t know most nights he went with little to no sleep as he snuck from the house and partied hard with a fake ID. He wanted what he got at Sunny Run, and he dangerously threw himself in sexual situations in order to find it.
- Shortly after the beginning of his Junior year it became apparent he was at least back in old habits to his family. While he stayed on good terms with his younger sister, always loving her and dotting on her in his own way… not against shop lifting to get her that CD, or piece of make-up she wanted so bad. Gabrielle was the only one even relatively on his side in the house, and he hated to see her crying after one of Adrian’s fights with their dad. She just didn’t like yelling, being the shy introverted girl she was. A good girl, and Adrian wanted her to stay that way.
- In the party scene, Adrian found and fell in love with ecstasy, the scenes drug of choice. Not too hard, not to soft, and he regulated himself because he did not want to become addicted. He wanted to stay a recreational user only. He also hooked up with dangerous older men, sometimes coming ut of their home ill used, but never serious enough to go to the hospital. It frusterated his father to see it, since his entire job centered around helping, protecting and saving children from various situations like his son was unknowingly involved in, and catching the bad guy, but Adrian did not let him act like a father now. He lied splendidly in ways that made his father infuriated enough to storm out.
- Half a month into his Junior year he got into underage prostitution, to further along his sense of sexual wrong and danger. Still searching for that elusive safety he had at Sandy Run. He did not find it, but he made a lot of money trying. He was caught in a dive hotel known for prostitution in a sting, and was taken in. Underage prostitution… he could not just be dropped off on his father’s doorstep and turned over. He spent a night in jail, his father talking with the DA.
- Despite thinking his dad was not really going to do anything to save his ass, he did. Daniel managed to talk the DA into a deal that would not stain his record. He would be let off, if he spent the rest of his schooling at Sandy Run, deeming his short time there insufficient in straightening him out fully the first time. Daniel furthered it by saying that, even come summer, he would not be coming home. This was a punishment, and until graduation he would not see the home he was raised in. It made Adrian angry, but the tears in his father’s eyes as he said it shocked him into silence.
Daniel left saying, ‘Even if you’re gay, you’re still my son and I love you.’ Adrian would never admit to crying after his father left saying that.
- Adrian is all mixed about returning to Sandy Run. But he is hoping ____ ______ is still there, and that he will be able to find comfort in his attentions once more. That is the only thing keeping him complacent as he’s moved from the jail to Texas by his too silent mother, his father’s absence loud in the car the whole way there.
