Θ as a son of two reformed jews, billy is jewish but doesn't practice it all that often. whoops. Θ scared about coming out and telling his parents he's gay. it was hard enough admitting to them that he's a mutant. Θ still wants that big american dream: wife, 2.5 kids, dog, white picket fence. only without the wife part... Θ has to hear his spells to be able to cast them. he's easily defeated if he's muzzled/gagged/shut up in any way. Θ is drawn to the scarlet witch like no other. not in the sexy way, just in the way that she's very interesting to him. Θ always wanted a twin, but ended up with two annoying, much younger brothers. Θ frackin LOVES the avengers. totally wishes they'd get back together, but has fun watching some of them teach classes regardless. Θ made his own costume. modeled it after his two favorite avengers: thor and the scarlet witch. Θ wanted to go by "asgardian" at one point. until someone made a pun out of it and he blushed it out of existence. Θ isn't very good at decorating, can't shop or dress all that well, and is terrified of going to a club; aka he's a terrible gay man and he knows it. Θ likes to stay in and wear pjs and watch movies. Θ or draw. he's been drawing a lot these days. Θ has never been on a date or even kissed anyone before. nope, not even a girl just to try it. he's a big ol virgin at pretty much everything, sigh.

biography

the eldest of three boys born to two reformed jews in new york city, billy grew up wanting for nothing. the kaplans weren't exactly well off but they got by just fine without struggle. even from an early age billy was frail and skinny and smaller that the other boys in his school. for that reason alone he was regularly bullied for years. from first grade up until the start of high school. it was distracting sometimes. although a good student, his grades would sometimes suffer because of the ridicule at school. it didn't help that he went to a private, all boys school. he was taunted because of his looks, the way he spoke, and how shy he was. and, for some reason, for being gay. which he swore up and down he wasn't, denying his deepest, darkest secret. billy found solace in comic books and the idea of being a superhero like the avengers for some unknown reason. one day, while hiding from bullies on a park bend in central park, bloody nose hidden in a comic book, billy encountered a mysterious girl in a red hoodie. she told him to stand his ground the next time it happens, magically knowing exactly the thing he was hiding from. then she touched his head, causing a red light to flash briefly. a few weeks later he stood up for another kid being bullied, and demonstrates his powers for the first time, but was not fully prepared for their effects. these effect knocked out everyone within a few yards radius, including billy himself. he woke up in a hospital with two men standing over him. he thought they were cops at first. but professor charles xavier and erik lehnsherr were not cops. they called him "gifted" and invited him to join their special school. despite hating his current school, billy rebuffed their offer and chose to stick out his horrid freshman year at the all boy's school. the reason being that he was in denial about another part of him. "mutant" was another word they had used. billy was a mutant. it took him a long time to process this. he went about his days more shy and reserved then ever, worried that he might have another outbreak and not be able to bluff his way out of it like the other incident. borrowing some of his mom's self-help books worked some. they kept him calm and gave him a way to hone and focus his power -- a power that seemed to be limitless. as long as billy repeated what he wanted to happen, and really focused on it, he could do anything. he could fly. teleport. create lightning. as long as he stayed focused on the outcome he could work it. or so he thought. even that proved wrong and he was rescued from a potentially disastrous situation involving a toast by his mother. billy had no choice but to admit to the fact that he was a mutant. she then told his father, who then worried out loud what to do for their "troubled" boy. that's when billy brought up xavier and lehnsherr's offer... with only one month left in school, billy transferred to the greymalkin school for the gifted to finish out his freshman year. there he was able to hope up and really be himself. mostly, he still kept some things very private. the training provided also helped control his wild powers, which often got him many perplexed looks. returning for his sophomore year has been even better. billy already knows that upon graduation he wants to take a team of friends with him to start a real live super hero group! it'll be so awesome. something similar to the avengers, maybe. but younger. yeah, totally.
