There is really no great hidden secret with Storm. He doesn’t hide anything about himself, but then again he doesn’t really put himself out there without reason. Withdrawn, and cynical, people generally have a hard time warming up to him. But then he is really just starting to get use to no longer being surrounded by family, and instead being surrounded by strangers. So he is not very outgoing at all. He tends to like to keep to himself, only really putting himself out there for his nephew, his only surviving relative.

Sarcastic a great deal of the time; it is, really, his humor, and his defense mechanism. It doesn’t help he is not really one for team work, preferring to, instead, work alone. Maybe because he hates losing people, or just because he doesn’t really know how to handle others most of the time. But either way, he’d rather go off on his own.

So as one can guess, when they get to see the other side to him they can be surprised. And that other side is a young man who is caring, warm, passionate and protective. To those he cares for, he warms up, his attitude becoming lighter. He even smiles easily, and is quick to show affection. And, most shocking for this largely introverted guy, is that he thinks absolutely nothing of giving affection in full public view. He’s learned life is too short nowadays for worrying about how it will be seen showing the ones you care about how much you, well, care.

There are other parts of his personality, parts that have yet to be fully developed and shown. Basically, he has the makings of being possessive, and unforgiving. He can hold grudges, and he thinks nothing about going as far as it takes to keep those he cares for protected.
History
Life before the meteors was a good one for the Hunter family. They had themselves three sons, one of which was an ‘opps’ during the middle of life change, but all in all? They couldn’t have asked for a better life. A happy family, if a bit eccentric with their hippiesque mother and blue collar, hardworking father. Storm, or Alex as he had been called by his family at large, was the happiest seven year old there could be. Nothing could possibly go wrong to change that. Than the meteors fell, and life on Earth was irrevocably changed. It was panic, pandemonium. The seven year old couldn’t quite comprehend what was going on. Why they had to go states over and hide in his grandfather’s bunker with the rest of the family, or why his mother’s hippie family refused to come and join them there. He didn’t understand why his mother cried and looked so sad.

Understanding came when the family, a year later, ventured outside to find a world ruined, and now overrun by creatures that had only a year before been scary stories. Vampires and werewolves, creatures of nightmares, except there was no waking up from this. They fled Flagstaff, Arizona and eventually found themselves in an encampment of humans just inside California at the Mojave National Reserve.

It was a small grouping, but they kept close-knit and lived under strict codes just to survive. And for a few years, they lived under the radar of vampires and lycans, growing and learning. It was there that the eldest Hunter met someone he loved, and they ‘married’ in their own way, since there was no clergy to be had. Alex was twelve when his nephew was born, and his sister-in-law died. She tore in the birth, and the bleeding could not be stopped. That was when his elder brother lost his smile and became a hard man. Sadly, Michael was also the one who taught Alex everything he knew.

Through Michael, Alex learned of the harsh realities of their kind of life, and of allowing yourself to be weak, but thankfully Summer Hunter, the matriarch of their family and Alex’s mother, was there to keep hope and passion for life alive in her youngest as life ravaged her two oldest, taking the joy of life out of them, and eventually even her husband.

Alex was twenty when their luck ran out. A group of vampires and lycans found them and attacked their safe haven. Michael and Cameron, the two older sons, sacrificed themselves so that the family might escape. And escape they did, moving constantly with little in the way of breaks, trying to find the only whisper of safety they knew. The Hoover Dam.

They were close, so close to the Dam when those same lycans and vampires caught up to them. They only had time to hide the presence of Alex’s nephew, Keagan, before having to take off and lead them away. Alex, his mother and father were the bait, and they took it. Alex ran… urged on by his parents whose voices soon faded in screams. Right up to the edge of a cliff. He saw it coming, saw the drop off, and he did not pause. If he was to be attacked and survived, he could be something he hated. And he’d rather die without filling the stomachs of monsters. So he ran and jumped right off the cliff.

He fell, hitting the slopped side, sharp rocks cutting into and mutilating his skin as he fell, leaving him an unconscious mess at the bottom of the cliff. The monsters left him for dead, and Alex thought that would be his fate; death. Only… a group of Progeny had found Keagan, and the eight year old lead them in the direction his family went in, found the corpses of the boy’s grandparents, during which the boy was unusually calm and did not scream or cry, and right up to the cliff Alex had thrown himself from. He’d blacked out by the time they looked over and saw him there, and was in and out of consciousness as they took him and his nephew back to the Dam and the Doctor.

When he was next fully conscious, it was after surgery and reanimation. No longer just a human, but now more. A Progeny. Seeing himself as having truly died then, he shed the name Alex and instead took on the middle name his hippie mother gifted him with; Storm. Storm, the elysian Progeny. Now jaded and cynical himself, he kept apart from others as he entered training, only caring about his nephew. Keagan was everything to him now, his only family. They only had each other. And so life at the Damn began and went for two months. Now Storm is twenty-one, and Keagan is nine. And still, neither of them have fully adjusted to being a part of the whole.
The Nephew
Name: Keagan Lane Hunter
Age: 9
date of birth: November 2, 2025
Race: Human
residency: Hoover Dam

Born to Michael and Miranda Hunter five years after the Meteors fell, he has only known a world of extreme danger and bad conditions. Much like his uncle, born the day before Storm’s twelfth birthday, Keagan was a quiet and observant kid. He learned quickly and advanced fast. He soaked up being taught what little his family had to teach him while constantly on the move. He is big into reading, and has a reading comprehension greater than his own age, since the only books they tended to find for him were adult books not meant for children. Definitely a kid thirsty for the intellectual.
