Biography
|
Sera Lydia Banks is the only daughter of a single father. Her mother passed away when Sera was only two; shortly after being diagnosed with cancer. Sera's father Jackson; a former college baseball star, wasn't expecting a child when his girlfriend, Lori, got pregnant his freshman year of college. She was several years older than he was and they hadn't been dating that long. When Lori passed away Jackson's dreams of playing professional baseball ended up being shattered. He needed to do right by his daughter and he needed to be around her as much as possible. With the help of his parents, he managed to finish college and raise his daughter and soon became a high school gym teacher so that he could coach baseball.
Sera and her father lived with her grandparents until she was six in a nice house in St. Louis, Missouri. However, when her father got a job as a teacher in that same school district, they relocated to their own house not too far away from her grandparents. The move was easy for Sera, she didn't need to change schools and being only a mile away from her grandparents was something that the little girl was very able to handle even if it meant they didn't live together anymore. Aside from growing up without a mother, Sera's life was as normal as it could get. She had a close relationship with her father, attended school and had a lot of friends. She wasn't the most popular girl by all means but she had her little cluster of friends and was happy with that. She played sports and was also quite talented as a violinist. At a young age, aside from playing the violin (and later singing and other instruments), Sera was very much a tomboy. If it was dirty, she liked it. If it was something that a boy would usually enjoy, she liked it. If it was baseball? She loved it.
Forever Sera hoped to go to college close by, somewhere in Missouri or preferably the University of St. Louis. As luck would have it not only did Sera get into college she also got a scholarship to University of St. Louis to play for their softball team. Though she isn't a straight-A student; she is very good in her studies but she isn't all that great in the science department. Sera always did her best and always passed her exams but she wasn't quite there when it came to science. She had to have a tutor for all of her science classes since starting in middle school. Luckily for her, though, mass communications doesn't required you to take too many science courses in college. Lord knows if it did she'd have had a pretty big problem. As a senior internship in high school she worked after school at the local radio station. She is learned the ins and outs of becoming a DJ and working in that environment and recently started with the college radio station. She has been told that after college, and during the summers, they would like her to return to the station with a full-time position if that is still what she wants to do.
Sera is very mature for her age, but she of course has her moments of immaturity. Who doesn't? She has never been amazingly boy crazy but she wasn't completely subdued when it came to guys either. Of course she also has her fangirl moments with stars but she hasn't exactly met many so seeing one in person would likely always be a big deal. Normally, Sera is quite bubbly and very happy. She likes to make the best of everything and is sometimes overly optimistic. However, she tries to tone it down. Though she is a relatively well-behaved young woman she still has her moments of rebellious behavior. She doesn't always tell the truth about where she is going or who she is going to be with when she is home with her father on vacation. She has tried smoking (didn't like it) and drinking (liked it) and sex (loved it).
