PERSONALITY
For the most part, Garrett is a laidback guy who rarely gets angry. He finds
humor in everything, mainly because he is easily amused. While he does not care
for vulgarity, he pretty much laughs at anything else that is supposed to be
laughed at. Garrett Macbride is that one person in the audience of a comedy
show, who is the only one in the audience thatlaughs at the worst joke ever
made. In fact, if he does NOT laugh at a joke, it goes without saying that joke
perhaps was not even a joke to begin with. He is that easily amused.
Even though he may find laughter in everything, he is an intelligent individual.
He is not someone to enjoy a Jeopardy marathon (he actually loathes that show),
but he thoroughly enjoys catching up on the news, especially the ticker that
scrolls across the screen during the 11 o'clock program when he's too tired to
actually concentrate on what the anchors are saying. He is also a people person
and will gladly initiate conversation about anything that captures his interest.
Because of his laidback personality, it is easy for him to make acquaintances.
However, due to his troubled past, he has trouble trusting others with
friendship. His circle of friends is small but he loves each of them as if they
were family. All around, Garrett has a great sense of humor with an open mind,
but he is very reserved. |

BIOGRAPHY
Garrett Macbride would love to assume he lived a life similar to Spiderman, but
such a destiny was never his own. He did read plenty of comic books during his
childhood and even started a collection at the precious age of six. By his
teenage years, he accumulated as many as three hundred comic books, which was
not a bad number for a kid with a tiny allowance. While his parents were not the
wealthiest people in the world, their income was enough for their family to live
comfortably. Sounds like a wonderful childhood and a fantastic life, doesn't it?
Everything was picture perfect until his thirteenth birthday when he discovered
he was adopted.
After only being in the world for a few months, Garrett's biological parents
gave him up for adoption. Very young in their adult life, his father and mother
simply could not afford to raise a child. Keeping Garrett's well-being in their
best interest, they kissed his sweet little forehead for the last time and
handed him to the care of Timothy and Francine Macbride.
Timothy was a freelance photographer and Francine worked as a shop clerk in
London. They were two individuals who desperately wanted to raise a family but
were unable to have children of their own. The idea of adopting a child was
stressful for Timothy, but Francine convinced him to at least consider it. He
did eventually warm up to the idea and once he looked into Garrett's little
eyes, he knew that little boy was meant to be a Macbride. Wanting Garrett to
live as carefree a childhood as he could, Timothy and Francine agreed to not
tell their son of his origins until his thirteenth birthday. Garrett loved his
family very much, but was undoubtedly a father's son. He followed Timothy around
everywhere and did everything his father did. He often accompanied his father
during his work days and learned how to use a camera at an early age. The
pictures Garrett took were snapped with a photographer's eye and Timothy knew
his son was gifted.
Garrett began entering his photographs into art competitions within the school
and he often came home with a ribbon. His parents could not have been more proud
and all was well in the world... and then he turned thirteen. While his adopted
parents kept his origins a secret out of love, and while his biological parents
gave him up out of love, Garrett only saw fault and betrayal. It killed him to
know his family was not his actual family and that those who shared his blood
lived separate lives without any intention of reconnecting. He acted out his
frustrations and engaged in teenage rebellion. Getting into fights at school and
vandalism became a routine for him and was even arrested for shoplifting shortly
after graduating.
His parents continued to love him, but their patience was tested in every way
possible. With little respect for them, Garrett had no true desire to keep a
family. He allowed his anger to blind him from seeing the love pouring from his
parents' heart and he wanted to be as far away from both families as possible. After his eighteenth birthday, he took what cash was left in his
father's wallet, packed his bags and flew to America.
It took him only a few weeks to realize how stupid of a decision that was. If
not for a homeless shelter in South Carolina, he would have ended up on the
streets. He had no cash to return home and his pride destroyed the thought of
going back to England. Finding work at a local book store, he spent the
following four years saving up money until he was able to room with another boy
his age by the name of Frederick. Frederick was a born again Christian who often
spoke about scripture. At first, Garrett allowed this religion talk to go in one
ear and out the other. However, over time, he became curious of what Frederick
talked about and began studying it for himself. He started attending church and
became a brand new person at age twenty-four when he was born again.
Over time, he acquired wisdom of his wrongdoings as a child and changed for the
better. He became a person of strong faith, loyalty and honesty. He was a loving
soul who wanted nothing more then to make people happy. Garrett Macbride was a
horrible child, but grew into an admirable young man. Thinking his past was
behind him, he reached out to his parents by phone. His father hung up after
Garrett's first hello. That was the last time Garrett spoke to his father and
has yet to successfully contact him. However, his mother has reached out via
email and weekly video chats. While his relationship with his mother is slowly
mending, his relationship with his father remains broken. Garrett took a few
photography classes at a local college, but could not bring himself to continue
the hobby which he shared with his father. He packed away his camera and it
remains under his bed to this day.
Several years have passed and Garrett has made a life for himself at Myrtle Beach. He has remained at work in
that little book shop and was even promoted to assistant manager. He was even
able to move out into his own apartment, which shares with Autumn, his
girlfriend of four years. Autumn stole Garrett's heart when she applied for a
modeling job during one of his photo projects and they have been inseparable
since. With new friends, new love and a new life, Garrett finds it easy to now
consider Myrtle Beach his home. |
