Beings believed to be descended from Faeries whose glamour was particularly strong, Doppelgangers are mystical and oftentimes confusing creatures with the ability to become virtually anyone. Many other races are inherently distrustful and suspicious of them, and they find it easier to fit in with Humans than with other supernaturals much of the time.
☼ Are born in their true form, the face that most closely resembles their parents. The appearance and sex of this form is definite.

☼ Until puberty sets in the Doppelganger doesn’t typically have the ability to transform in any drastic way but may have been exhibiting small peculiarities. It is not uncommon, however, for Doppelgangers to be raised as Humans completely unaware of their power.

☼ May only take on humanoid forms. This includes the humanoid appearances of many supernatural creatures, though such a transformation will not grant any of the magical attributes of that race.

☼ Can change their appearance indefinitely and without many rules or restrictions, though they must observe conservation of mass. While they can transform into a form smaller or larger than itself they can only keep it up for 24 hours before the Doppelganger will revert to its true form.

☼ Do not need to wear clothes as they can mimic the appearance and feel of cloth with their own bodies. While these cannot be removed in the traditional sense they can be willed away into a state of nudity.

☼ Are ageless. It is not known how long a Doppelganger can live, and they do not show signs of aging.

☼ Can be killed in any way that an ordinary Human can be killed.

☼ Can change gender if they so choose and are capable of being either mother or father to children.

☼ Cannot transform if they see their true form’s reflection. Once the reflection is gone their powers are restored.

☼ May be forced back into their true form by exposure to moonstone.

Doppelgangers have a natural aversion to this mineral. How limiting it is depends on the amount of the mineral present and their proximity to it, though a little goes a long way. Moonstone powder and moonstone mirrors are the favored Doppelganger hunting tools of Hunters.
