history
Two minutes and forty two seconds. Sydney would forever hold that over her twin brother Stephan's head. Being born almost three minutes earlier than your brother had its advantages. For one thing, that whole "respect your elders" thing always came into play. Though for the most part, Stephan and Syd were inseparable. They were gorgeous babies with wispy strands of dark hair and large blue eyes. As kids, well ..the Ramey twins weren't lookers. Their awkward years started exceptionally early and while Stephan's lasted into his college years, Sydney was able to transform herself during her junior year of high school.

Baltimore wasn't a bad place to live but Boston was infinitely better. She'd be able to escape the bitchy ten year olds that teased her about her 'golf ball' eyes on a daily basis and she'd be able to start fresh in a new city. However, with a new location came problems. Ira and Wanda Ramey filed for divorce when Sydney was 12 years old and the twins were forced to move back and forth between the two parents. Two years later, Sydney and her siblings had to deal with two new step-parents, two weddings, and a handful of step-siblings that she hated. She had her own room with a large 'KEEP OUT' sign hanging on it, though that never stopped her older step-sister from barging in and ruffling through her notes. Finding a "I ♥ Danny" note was the center of Sydney's torment for months as her older step-sister paraded around the house, mocking Syd's love for a fellow fifteen year old classmate.

The end of her senior year was the happiest day of her life. Her bags were packed and Sydney was headed for New York City to enroll in the Fashion Institute of Technology. Her major in Fashion Design took up all of her time, leaving little room for the normal extracurricular activities that normal college students go through (binge drinking, unprotected sex, morning after shame). Sydney traded that in for evenings spent at her internship with Ralph Lauren and getting ready for the annual student runway show, FIT on the Catwalk with critics that included Carolina Herrera, Norma Kamali, Gemma Kahng, Calvin Klein, and Bob Mackie. Sydney was living her very own Project Runway life.

Upon graduation, Sydney tried her hand at life in the big city. Living in a studio apartment with fantastic views of the brick wall of the building across from her, Syd was forced to work three jobs in order to make her $2,400 per month rent, not including utilities. There was also public transportation that required money. Oh, and food, too. With her bank account unable to support her NYC lifestyle, Sydney left Manhattan and headed for a different part of New York. Westchester county.

Getting her feet back on the ground was tough. For the first year, Sydney lived with a roommate she couldn't stand. The girl was four years younger than her and loved to party. Didn't matter what day of the week it was or that Sydney had to get up early the next morning. The way she saw it was she paid her half of the rent, therefore she was allowed to do as she pleased.

It was the longest year of her life but Sydney managed to make it out alive. With enough money saved up in the bank, she branched out and put a down payment on a small, cozy condo. Her next step? Head on over to the bank in an attempt to make her dreams come true. After a credit check, the bank gave her a small business loan and Sydney was able to rent out space in the local outdoor shopping mall. Her boutique was appropriately named Odd Twin Vintage and much to her surprise, the boutique was successful.

When it came to love, Sydney experienced it once. It was right around the time she moved to Tarrytown and was trying to get her life in order. He was a few years older, incredibly handsome and witty beyond belief. They were together for two years and Sydney was completely and utterly in love with him. Shane proposed shortly after their two year anniversary. However, after the engagement came the added stress and the realization that, for him, this was it. He got a case of cold feet, became incredibly distant, and he eventually admitted to Sydney he wasn't sure if marriage was for him. They broke off their engagement and Sydney closed herself off to men emotionally. To this day, she doesn't talk about it, not even to the one person who knows her better than she knows herself -- her twin brother.
