Personality.
Patrick is a bit of a loose cannon at times; he speaks what is on his mind without fear of the consequences. He has no concept of right and wrong in terms of social interaction, and often offends people with his choice of topics.

Making friends has never been one of his strong suits; others often find him to be too smug, crude, and condescending. This has never been a priority in life for him, he could care less what others think as he's quite positive that the feeling would be mutual.

He has a thing against women who are too sure of themselves, as they remind him of his mother and his ex-wife, and will often go out of his way to bring them down off of their high horse.

He never shows emotion of any kind, whether it be good or bad; he was taught to believe that it was the number one sign of weakness. This makes having a relationship almost impossible, he's hardly affectionate and has never been able to find a woman that didn't expect him to shower her with love and attention. Remorse isn't a term that he's familiar with, and often finds himself alienated from others because of this.

biography.

Patrick Cosgrove was born in the winter of 1965 to James and Margaret Cosgrove. His father worked in a factory and his mother was unemployed. As far back as he could remember, his home life was full of tension and unmasked hatred. Neither parent seemed to be too concerned with his well-being and often left him to do whatever he wanted. There were no rules or guidelines, all he knew was that he didn't have what one would call a typical childhood, but it was all that he knew. His parents divorced when he was seven, sending him into an even bigger spiral of confusion and hatred. He was bounced back and forth between the two, neither of them wanting to deal with a kid but finding it fit to use him as a means to let the other know just what they thought of them. He grew up not knowing right from wrong as a result of his parents constantly filling his head with reasons why the other was worthless. At the age of eight, he was staying with his father over spring break. He didn't notice the signs, he was too young to tell the difference, and his father shot himself in the head while he was in the next room. The next few years were rough; his mother remarried a man who despised kids and introduced her to the drug world.

Patrick barely graduated; he always felt that he was allowed to pass so that the teachers wouldn't have to deal with him any longer. Shortly after his eighteenth birthday, the girl that he was seeing at the time informed him that she was pregnant, but that she wasn't going to keep the baby. Patrick had nothing to say either way about her decision, and that was the last that the two of them talked to one another. He'd see her in passing over the years, and noticed that she had a little boy with her, but he never thought to confront her. In the back of his mind, he knew what was going on, but couldn't find it in himself to do anything about it. Patrick tested his luck against the law about as much as he could until he turned twenty. Most of his time was spent with different women, none of which remained a permanent fixture in his life. He lived life like there was no tomorrow, and it was after a few close calls that he decided he'd rather be on the other side of it and went into the police academy. In his rookie year on the force, he met and quickly married a woman that he'd met at a bar after his shift had ended. The marriage was doomed from the start; she was too wild to tame herself for a marriage. The relationship was toxic, abusive ( on both ends ), and over within six years. His wife had turned to drugs shortly before the split and he quickly associated her with his mother and the old feelings of hatred and abandonment resurfaced. It was because of this that he decided to become a narc; making it his goal to get people like his mother and ex-wife off of the streets.

In the fall of 2010, Patrick was starting to calm down significantly. He'd been in and out of a few relationships, and was starting to come around and act his age. A young girl arrived on his doorstep, claiming to be his daughter. At first, he didn't believe her, because he didn't remember her mother. After a blood test, it was confirmed that she was his child, and he had no choice but to continue to allow her to sleep on his couch. The two had a weird relationship from the start, as Patrick never really wanted children of his own, and didn't know what to do about her. She was twenty, and things were a bit rough at first. A few months later, she tracked down another Cosgrove using facebook, and Patrick came to find that it was the same kid that he'd seen around town with his former girlfriend. Now that he had two children, life was starting to become more and more confusing for Patrick.

With the return of Sadie's mother brought much stress and unnecessary drama, and the two fell into a relationship that was incredibly short-lived, just like the first. It wasn't long before she was running off to England, leaving their daughter behind with him. Patrick continued on as usual, spending his time with his kids every so often, even though he complained about them just as much.

Ten years later, things had gotten better in his life. He was dating the same woman for over a handful of years, which was nearly unheard of for him. His relationship with his mother had improved drastically, although she didn't often know who he was and it became difficult. In early 2021, she passed away, and he finally decided to marry the woman that he'd been with for quite a bit of time.
