Blunt. Honest. Giving. Determined. Wordly. Those are some of the things that describe who Austin is. The middle son of the Newton family is a lot of things. The thing about Patrick is that a lot of people misunderstand him because of how he is. He isn't afraid to be blatantly honest with someone about something, and isn't afraid to voice his opinion, regardless of the situation or topic of conversation. He's often told he's an asshole, or that he's insensitive which is far from the truth. It was just from how he was raised with a heavy hand. He knows how to work hard, and do what he has to do thanks to working with his Father from an early age, as early as twelve years old. His dry sense of humor probably doesn't help his cause either to be honest. The Devoted part of him is because he'd do anything for his family or someone he cares about or loves. He'd sacrifice himself for anyone of his little brother if it was needed. He's also Flirtatious. Out-Going. Kind. Social. He spends most of his time at Roadhouses, Sports Bars or Irish Pubs. He loves it, and experiencing new and exciting places across the world. He loves the game of attracting women too much (as long as they were up for the game too, of course), and sometimes men but the men part is strictly behind closed doors. After all, he's a 'straight' man. He's a carefree, life loving man who is ambitious, kind and would give the shirt off of his back to someone in need.

Patrick has a love and fondness for handmade jewellery, specifically beaded bracelets or braided leather bracelets, never leaving home without some kind of bracelet or jewellery piece on his wrists, or his usual silver ring he wears, also not to mention the necklaces he always has around his neck. After wearing them for so long, he feels naked without those pieces of jewellery, and would also pick Caterpillar or Doc Marten boots on his feet over any type of shoe any day of the week.

Patrick Michael O'Riley was born on the 1st of January, 1982 and the oldest son of the Irish family, his younger brother being born a few years later. The O'Rileys originate from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where they spent their entire lives after moving from Dublin, Ireland. They were well off, unlike most families but they weren't ready for children, and barely even knew how to raise one. Pat was an only child and his mother always called him 'her miracle' since before her son she had six miscarriages, and the Doctors told her that Pat being born, even though he was three months premature - was a miracle. She was unable to have anymore children, and their son was named after his father, and his Grandfather - both of them being named Patrick. But unfortunately for Pat, his parents didn't love him enough or care for him enough to be honest. Even after his little brother was born, Patrick was always the one their father was most strict to, telling the boy he needed to set a good example for his younger brother who happened to be an accident, and they didn't even try for the youngest son. Over all, though - Elijah O'Riley was thrilled to have two sons to carry on his name in the world once they decided to have children of their own later in life.

The O'Rileys, both Mother and Father originate from Ireland. Dublin to be exact and both their families decided to move to South Carolina to have a better life, to start a new life for the both of them since life in Dublin was.. well, less than perfect to be honest. Mary and Elijah were both born in Dublin though, their sons getting them a citizenship after their children were born in America which gives their sons a dual citizenship, luckily for them. Growing up, life for Patrick wasn't easy. It was tough. He never questioned why his father always laid down a heavy hand on him, or why he was the 'example' but he also stopped his Father from beating the hell out of his little brother and his Mother when the older man had drank a little too much. Eli had been raised with a heavy hand back in Ireland and he knew no other way to be with children so the two O'Riley son's never questioned why the older man would strike them if they did something wrong, or spoke back. It really put them in line, and neither of them rebelled. Regardless of their Father's heavy hand and the bruises they'd occasionally get, they all stuck together as a family and that never really changed. To Pat, Family is very important and his little brother is the most important person in the world to him.

Patrick had an average childhood, like any other kid. Their family wasn't rich by any means but they never went without a meal or a new change of clothes but they weren't out buying brand clothing either. They got by okay with Elijah's garage, the place specializing in classic cars and customizing and painting cars, and Pat was always down at the garage with his Father, sometimes being pulled out of school for it from the age of twelve and there were occasions where the school would call up and ask where he was, and of course Pat would answer with 'with me' and leave it at that. Most days Eli wouldn't even go into his garage because he was too busy getting drunk at home so he'd leave it all to his workers until Patrick dropped out of school in the tenth grade and worked in the garage full time, learning the tricks of the trade from an old Irish man everyone called 'Nuckie' instead of his full name Enoch and the man was patient. He was about fifty years old and had been in America since he was a teenager but would talk to Patrick about Ireland and how it all was back in their homeland where Patrick had never been but had heard so much about so he definitely added it to his 'places to travel' list that was slowly building over the years, especially after he met a woman named Stephanie who was almost ten years older then him but he was sure it was love at first sight, and so did the woman when they first laid eyes on each other. Sparks were flying, and hearts were in their eyes. Not to mention, sparks also flew in the bedroom when Stephanie was Patrick's first with.. well, everything.

All through his childhood, he'd been friends with a girl named Meadow who stayed with her Grandmother while in Myrtle Beach, her Grandmother only living about two houses down from the O'Riley family so of course, Patrick and Meadow were best-friends thanks to their childhood games and mischief. Even though Pat was two years older than she was, he was of course the instigator when bad stuff happened and would get a good hiding for it by Eli for the shit he'd pull but to Pat, it was all totally worth it. He had a lot of fun as a kid, and a teenager between his Dad getting drunk and having to look after his little brother, also his own teenage antics of going out and partying too but the relationship with Stephanie wasn't as amazing as Pat thought it was. The woman was obsessed, always texting and calling him, wandering where he was and who he was with and was insanely jealous. They fought like cats and dogs and it was exhausting to Patrick but he never thought anything was wrong with them and always defended them. That was until he got sick.

He still remembers it like it was yesterday. He started to get constant migraines, blood noses, sensitivity to everything and was physically sick and unable to get out of bed. He was nineteen when he was diagnosed with his first set of tumors, them finding two in his brain about the size of a walnut. After treatments, and losing all his hair, all the chemo and throwing up, his Father finally quit drinking for the first time in their life, and quit it for good. He helped Pat's little brother and mother to look after the sick teenager, them having heart breaks along the way of thinking he was clear of tumors, to only have more come back with a vengeance. Pat and his family thought they were going to lose him and they decided to make his dreams come true. The family traveled the Asian countries together, saw the places Pat wanted to see and even went to Ireland to visit their family. While they were in Ireland, they got Patrick treatment to sustain him until their trip home. It was all exhausting for the teen but God, he loved every moment of them. When they finally got home though, they were in for.. well, a shock. After his scans, it showed he was clear from any kind of tumor and he was out of deep water. He'd gone through months of treatments and surgeries. Throwing up, needles, weight loss, skin discoloration, surgery, scans.. they were all worth it in the end. Out of this tragedy though, some good came out of it. Their family was a family again and it was something they hadn't been for as long as Pat could remember. They were all closer than they'd ever been. He fought the sickness for almost two years and now was finally free of it, but of course, the paranoia was always in the back of his mind and he'd never forget the ordeal.

During his time being sick, he reflected on his life and decided that the thing with Stephanie, even though they'd been together for five years and were engaged, wasn't healthy and not something he'd wanted. He'd spent five years with the woman, gave her everything only to feel like she always kicked him whenever he was down so after a screaming match, it was finally over. Patrick broke off the engagement and ended up moving in with Meadow into her Grandma's house as her room-mate since there was no chance Pat could go back and live at home, even though his Mom and Dad offered it, and his little brother was attending school still and passing with flying colors. That always made Pat proud, seeing how well his little brother did with his schooling and how well he was growing up. He almost felt like a proud Dad since he basically raised the youngest O'Riley and he was the way he was because of Pat. He was very proud of his little brother, and he was excited about his own new direction in life. He was going out more, spending a lot of time at Sports Bars and Irish Pubs, just socializing and getting to know people. He was also hooking up from time to time now, just having fun with life, deciding to not play the dating game for as long as he can, hooking up with both men and women but he keeps the whole 'men' thing out of the open, no one knowing about it except for Meadow and of course, the men he's been with. Now being thirty years old, and being healthy, working out four times a week and eating as good as he can between eating as bad as he can, he can finally say he's had a good life and he still enjoys it. He wouldn't try and change it for anything, still working in his fathers Garage, the places he manages when his Father isn't around and Pat actually loves working on vintage cars and painting them. It's a massive passion of his that he thinks he'll never get over because he loves doing it so much.
