ASTROLOGY
ARIES (March 21 - April 19)
The Ram.
Cardinal, fire, yang.
planetary ruler: Mars.
Keywords: "I AM"

Aries is the first sign of the Zodiac and governs the head.

Positive characteristics of Aries include courage, enthusiasm, idealism, charisma, quick wits, an ability to "think on one's feet," leadership potential, exuberant energy, zeal, and innocence.

Negative traits include selfishness, tactlessness, egocentrism, an inability to save money, impetuousness, a hot temper, combativeness, oversensitivity, carelessness, and cruelty.

ravenclaw

These Ravenclaws will have lightning-fast mental reflexes. Aries is an intellectual sign, but it is also an impatient sign; Ravenclaws who were born under this sign are likely to tolerate no dull wits or stupidity, whether they see this lack of mental competence in themselves (in which case they will berate themselves for not understanding, or give up quickly in frustration without really trying to overcome their difficulty in learning) or in others (in which case they will lash out at the offender with acidic comments and haughty, cutting looks). These Ravenclaws will want to be at the head of the class, dominating other students in their chosen intellectual field, and may be almost as competitive as Slytherins. However, the true aim of every Ravenclaw is knowledge, knowledge, and more knowledge. While a Slytherin might see losing a magical duel or being bested by another student in a DADA class as humiliating, the Ravenclaw will probably just take delight in competition for its own sake, and see defeat as a learning experience.

in five words: creative; driven; outspoken; always right.

in detail: Myron is a very driven, ambitious young man. At a young age he set his sights on becoming a rock star and everything he has done since then has been to work towards this goal. His attention span isn't all that long, except with regard to music (and Glinda). This can occupy him for hours and he has been known to work on a song for days until he perfects it, but ask him to concentrate on something mundane like creating a shopping list or his homework when at Hogwarts, and his attention immediately wanders to something far more interesting.

He is most definitely one of those people who need to be internally motivated by their work, and this was why when it came to Hogwarts, he was usually to be found in the library looking up spells for a nefarious reason of his own, not because it had anything to do with homework. He is a Ravenclaw through and through, but on his own terms. He wanted to learn what he wanted to learn, not what the professors wanted to teach him, which made him a thoroughly frustrating student to have in their class. With something that interests him (such as learning how to work the recording equipment at the studio) Myron is an avid student, determined to learn everything that he can.

There was no question then that he would indeed become a rock star. His internal motivation when it came to music was strong enough to sustain him when they were trying to make a name for themselves, and he was the one who kept them going when others might have given up and fallen back on plan B. Myron has never had a plan B. It was plan A or nothing. Now that he is a fully fledged rock star, Myron's determination has been set on building up his record label and providing a place for artists to work and record that will embrace and sustain them when others seek to tear them down and force them into compliance.

Myron has a very artistic soul, seeing poetry where others might only give something a cursory look. He is attracted to things which have an artistry to them, from photographs to art to furniture to people. Beautiful things appeal to him, but the important thing to remember about Myron is that he can find beauty in almost anything. The old women who congregate at the MagiCrafts group in Diagon Alley have an innate beauty to them that Myron adores, but the rest of the world doesn't seem to notice.

Myron is a very tactile person, enjoying the feel of someone close to him, and will frequently sit closer than necessary to people he knows will be okay with it, mostly his wife or Kirley and Donaghan given that they are best friends. Those closest to him have learned that if you want to tell Myron something serious, something you think he might react badly to, then it is imperative to be in physical contact with him when you break the news. When Myron is upset, he will usually go and flop on one of his closest friends, seeking comfort, and he very rarely chooses to be alone. He is a hedonist at heart, a slave to whatever will make him feel good, which is usually the touch of another human being.

Myron has little time for slow-witted people, and tends to get frustrated easily, more so when he's tired which is usually after a gig. Myron doesn't like people messing with his songs...unless they can actually improve upon it. Then he'll let it go, but not without making an issue of it first. That said, he does greatly enjoy rigorous discussion of music, provided it is clearly not an attack on his own music. As an artist, he is, of course, sensitive to criticism, but if it is approached in a way that makes Myron feel like they are collaborating on making the music even better than it already is, then he will be much more amenable.

Myron is submissive. However, don't mistake this for being weak or you will soon feel the force of Myron's wrath. He is very sensitive to any implication that he is less than a man because he enjoys submitting to his wife and will lash out at anyone who tries to suggest this. Being sexually submissive does not mean that he will go along with what anyone tells him to do. In fact, quite the opposite. Myron is incredibly headstrong and stubborn and will do what he wants to do, and sometimes things he doesn't want to do, just to spite the person attempting to order him around. Myron has a very strong will and has a tendency to steamroll over anyone who stands in his way.

Myron is very loud and outspoken. He has no shame and has never worried about censoring himself in the past, however with the press using these journals now, he is aware of just how newsworthy Myron Wagtail's words are, so he has learned to use wards for the more salacious content of his journal.

childhood
The youngest of four children, and the only boy, Myron came as a complete surprise to his family. Not just because he was a boy, but because he is so completely different to anyone else in his family. His older sisters were all studious Ravenclaws. They were relatively quiet, followed the rules, and did as they were told. Then came Myron, who practically exploded onto the scene, and not much has changed since.

Myron was an inquisitive child, who asked questions incessantly and poked his nose into everything going on around him, always wanting to know 'why'. He was loud and rambunctious and when his parents noticed his fascination with the wireless and how he seemed to still whenever music was played, they encouraged this interest by giving him music lessons and providing instruments for him to learn, but by far his favourite was his own voice.

Myron's mother, Angela, is a reserved woman who doesn't show her feelings easily, unless it is anger or disappointment, which Myron saw frequently as a child. He was rarely hugged as a child, and for a tactile person like Myron, this was akin to neglect. His father, Hayden, is a very stern man who has exacting expectations for his family. Unlike his sisters who constantly provided their parents with reasons to be proud, Myron fell short of these expectations at every turn, resulting in a very fractious relationship between the two men in the family. Myron spent his entire childhood desperate to please his parents and was frequently devastated when he failed. His grandparents provided no respite from this, being more severe and uncompromising than his parents.

Music provided his sanctuary, and Myron would often lock himself in the music room for hours on end, learning first the piano with private lessons provided by his parents. Myron practiced over and over again until he had perfected each song, driven by both a need to be note perfect but mostly to forget where he was for a time and lose himself in the music. When he was eight, his parents gave in to his begging and bought him an oboe, which he taught himself how to play.

From the age of seven, all of his sisters were at Hogwarts and he was alone for most of the year. It was a relief when Myron was able to escape to Hogwarts where he could socialise with other children.

hogwarts
On the train to Hogwarts, Myron met a lot of kids of all ages and had some interesting conversations, but it wasn't until he sat down next to Kirley that he really clicked with someone. Announcing that he was going to be a rock star seemed to kick start the conversation and the two have been the best of friends ever since.

Being at Hogwarts did nothing to deter Myron's sense of adventure. In fact, the sorting hat debating placing him in Gryffindor, but given that Kirley had already been sorted into Ravenclaw, Myron begged to be placed in the same house and the hat acquiesced.

At Hogwarts there was so much to learn and so much to get involved with, but nothing ever managed to top his love of music, and now he had an audience! Myron thrived with an audience, and whenever he discovered someone had musical talent or had learned an instrument, he would drag them into his band where they would last only as long as they could put up with Myron's bossiness. This was how Donaghan got involved with Kirley and Myron, and the three of them were the only consistent members of the band right throughout Hogwarts until they graduated. Kirley took everything in stride, but Donaghan was not so easy-going. When he and Myron clashed over something, it usually resulted in an epic fight that would go on for days and involve everyone in their immediate vicinity. Donaghan was the only one to stand up to Myron and win (Kirley had his own ways of getting Myron to back down). To this day, their relationship still has a tendency to be volatile but they love each other dearly and would do anything for each other.

Myron's grades fluctuated during his time at Hogwarts. There were times when the music almost seemed to live inside him, fighting to get out onto paper. These were his times of greatest creativity, but also the times when he got his worst grades. As his teachers got to know him, they began to recognise the pattern and allowed Myron to make up the work once the frenzy had passed, knowing that he always did. When he worked hard, he got excellent grades, but nothing motivated him the way music did.

At least, not until he discovered girls. And then boys. Myron is most definitely a slave to his baser instincts, and is a hedonist at heart. Music, however, did not have to compete with either the boys or the girls for Myron's attention, because music attracted them both. It was a win-win situation as far as Myron was concerned. It was at this time that Myron first discovered that he wasn't normal. Girls generally seemed to expect him to take the lead when they were together, but while he was fully capable of that, it never seemed to fit right. Whenever he tried to suggest that they might want to take control, all he got in return was judgement and was left feeling like something was wrong with him. Disliking that feeling immensely, Myron tried to push it aside and pretend it didn't exist, and he soon learned never to ask for what he really wanted, instead focusing on giving his partner all the pleasure that he could, disregarding his own. Physical contact, being naked with someone, was where he drew his pleasure from.

the band
The band has been a dream come true for Myron. While he knew that Kirley would go along with whatever they did, he knew that Kirley himself wouldn't be a driving force to get the band going. So Myron and Donaghan were the ones pushing for things to go ahead. Other students who had fun jamming with them at Hogwarts went on to other things once school finished, but only Myron, Kirley and Donaghan were determined to make music their career.

Orsino was the next one to join the band, roped in by Donaghan who had been a year ahead of him at school. They held open auditions in Hogsmeade and it just about caused Myron to tear his hair out in frustration. The people who thought they were hugely talented usually weren't, and the ones who were either thought of it as a hobby or didn't want to be a part of the group, or some other reason Myron couldn't fathom. They did, however, find Gideon, who didn't quite have the keyboard skills Myron was after, but he could play the bagpipes brilliantly. And through Gideon, they met and auditioned Heathcote and Herman, adding them to the band. Merton was the last to join the band. He played on their 'Do The Hippogriff' album as a studio musician, and Kirley decided that they had to have a cello in the band. After begging Myron to let him keep Merton, Kirley finally got his way and Merton joined the band full time.

Myron and Merton had a rocky relationship at first. For months they clashed every single time they interacted, to the despair of other band members. There was a time when they weren't allowed to speak without an intermediary, and Myron deeply regretted giving in to Kirley's begging to let Merton join the band. They turned a corner, however, when Myron's father sent him a howler, and Merton's protective instincts were raised. Then the flu hit and to save his voice for shows, Myron had to write messages on a chalkboard, and somehow that helped. They talked, or rather, Merton talked and Myron wrote, and somehow they turned a corner. It was by no means a smooth relationship after that, with misunderstandings and jealousy continuing to plague them, but now they are firm friends and Myron counts Merton as one of his closest friends.

Myron is utterly professional when it comes to gigs and planning the future of the band, and now while developing his record label. He always knows the current state of music in the wizarding world and takes notice of the way things work for musicians in the Muggle world, mainly out of curiosity, but also to see if they can get any hints on new things to do to make themselves the greatest wizarding rock band ever.

Basic Band Timeline:

  • 1992 - May - the band records their first indie album "Weird Sisters". The first two weeks of the month are spent recording the album as they couldn't afford any more studio time than that (funded by Myron's hooker money). Myron is a nightmare to work with, moody and a perfectionist. The following six weeks were spent getting the album art together and producing copies of the album and the band members distributing the album by hand to shops in the wizarding world (and also to Siren Records and Incantation Records).
  • 1992 - July 2 - the indie album is released.

  • 1996 - Feb/Mar/Apr - the band tour Europe and Asia almost non-stop.
  • 1996 - April - when they get home, the band say no more, they're done touring for a while and want to concentrate on other projects. They go on an unofficial hiatus.
  • 1996 - May - Myron, Kirley and Donaghan go to a meeting at Siren to discuss song-writing and when pressured to write particular things, Myron throws an epic tantrum and splits from Siren. Resistance Records is born.
  • 1996 - June 21 - the 2nd Annual Summer Solstice Festival is played at Stonehenge with the Weird Sisters coming briefly out of hiatus to headline.

    relationships
At Hogwarts, Myron dated frequently, but never for very long. A month or two was his longest 'relationship', if you could call it that. Myron's hedonistic behaviour only exacerbated after leaving Hogwarts and becoming a fully fledged band. Sex was his main indulgence, but alcohol and drugs have certainly played a part as well. Kinky is an understatement, and Myron has frequently been found in compromising positions in the past when a girl or guy (or some combination of the two) has run off after sex (usually taking some souvenir of his with them after he started becoming famous) and left him tied up. Myron was unrepentant after these incidents, refusing to see anything wrong with it, and if the person finding him (usually Kirley) started teasing him about the vulnerable position he had been left in, he would goad them right back, practically daring them to take advantage of the situation.

After leaving Hogwarts, he got a job at a Muggle escort agency. This agency provided men and women to go on dates and escort the people who hired them to events around London. It was NOT a sex agency...but if he was attracted to the person he was with and sex happened to occur, well, who could blame him? He tended to get a pretty good tip then as well. Myron quickly became a favourite at the agency due to his charm and grace and his ability to make someone feel special, no matter who they were.

It was at a publishing event that Myron was escorting someone to that he met Glinda Prescott, when he was 18 years old. His date that night was involved in talking shop with the other people at their table, and Myron noticed that there was only one other person there under the age of forty. After talking with Glinda for a short time, they stole a bottle of champagne and disappeared out into the garden to drink and talk and fall in love.

Nothing about Myron and Glinda's relationship has been to plan. They fell in love in an instant, Glinda moved in with Myron (and Donaghan and Kirley) only a few short months later and lived with them for two years. Myron and Glinda connected in a way that they'd never experienced before, spending days in bed together, talking and making love and losing hours as they revelled in each other. Sundays were an especially wonderful time in the flat, with Glinda making pancakes in her underwear and a shirt, playfully tapping Myron on the arse with the spatula and enjoying the camaraderie with Donaghan and Kirley. All four of them became very close.

They had been together for just about two years when Myron started thinking about proposing. He wasn't quite ready to do it yet, but he started saving for a ring and looking for the right one, and he found it. However, before he could get into the right headspace to propose, Glinda started making noises about the two of them moving out of the share flat and getting their own house in the suburbs. Myron couldn't fathom leaving his best mates and moving out of the dorm like atmosphere of the Founding Flat (so named because the three founders of the Weird Sisters lived there) and dug his heels in. Even after Glinda gave him an ultimatum that she was leaving in a month, with or without him, couldn't make him budge. And so, Glinda walked out, and Myron fell apart.

It was a brutal first few months after Glinda left. Myron was a nightmare to live with and to work with, and this was right when the band were recording their first independently funded album. The first time Donaghan's girlfriend tried to cook pancakes in the flat, Myron hit the roof and stormed out of the flat. That was the last time pancakes were made in the Founding Flat until Glinda came back. Not only was Myron mourning the end of a very important relationship, one where he had been contemplating marriage (even if he wasn't quite ready for it yet), but he'd also lost the woman who understood exactly what he needed sexually and loved to give it to him. He was utterly lost without her, floundering and trying to find something to hold onto.

Eight months after Glinda left, that something became Kirley. Their relationship became physical and Myron's love for Kirley - always so strong - gradually grew romantic in nature. However, Kirley wasn't Glinda and never would be, and no matter how hard Myron tried to turn their relationship into the dynamic he'd shared with Glinda, it never worked. Kirley didn't understand the need for rules, and he was never jealous when Myron would flirt with or sleep with other people (in fact, he encouraged it). Myron discovered that the relationship he'd staked his heart on wasn't what he wanted it to be, wasn't what he needed and could never be. It took him a long time (almost an entire year) to reconcile this with what his heart wanted. He and Kirley are still the best of friends, still closer than close and very tactile with each other, and sometimes still sleep together, but only with Glinda's blessing. After the bus crash, Kirley gave Myron one of his own rings to reassure him that Kirley would always be there. It is a ring that Myron wears to this day, side by side with his wedding ring, and he rarely takes either of them off.

Desperately needing something Kirley couldn't give him, Myron turned to sex clubs to fill that void (something he still hasn't admitted to either of his best mates). However, with strangers who didn't care for him as Glinda had, Myron didn't find what he was looking for. He found release, he found a way to transform his emotional pain into a physical pain, and that could be a relief too, he found a place where he could switch off and become simply a body, a vessel for other people's pleasure, a place where he didn't matter, where what he wanted was left at the door. It wasn't good for Myron, and it drained his spirit, even as it released the tension that would build up inside of him. In the years since he lost Glinda, the frequency that Myron would seek out this kind of experience grew until eventually he ended up in a dangerous situation in which he could have died had it not been for the intervention of a third party. The worst part was that Myron didn't care.

Only a month after that, after the bus crash that nearly cost several band members their lives, Myron was sent to do an interview at the WWN to reassure the public that they were all okay. Donaghan was supposed to be the one to go, but he was unable to make the journey so Myron was sent in his place. It was quite a shock to be confronted with the love of his life, that he thought he'd lost. Myron didn't quite know what to do at first, and blew up at his mates, Donaghan and Kirley, who had both already had an interview at the WWN before they went on tour and obviously knew Glinda was there.

Once he got over the shock of it, Myron realised that he owed Glinda an apology, given how their first meeting had ended. In true Myron style, this apology took the form of a song performed publicly at the WWN offices. This resulted in an instant media storm however the road to romance wasn't nearly so smooth. Glinda had a number of concerns, but as usual, Myron managed to managed to blow them all out of the water and convinced Glinda that he was serious now, that he was ready to take this to the next level.

After that, they quickly fell into their faster-than-the-speed-of-light relationship style as they had before and it was only a few months later that Myron proposed. Myron still had his own place, though he spent most of his time at Glinda's, but before the North American tour, they started house hunting and a few weeks later walked into the most perfect house ever. The instant they walked in, both of them fell in love with it and it was theirs. After purchasing the house, Myron had to get ready for the tour of North America, which would at least make the wait until they could move into their new house go faster.

Right before the NA tour, Myron decided that he couldn't leave the country without marrying Glinda. He had no desire to have his family there, so with Kirley and Donaghan, and Glinda's parents, the pair of them eloped to get married the day before the band set off on the NA tour. It was a wonderfully intimate romantic wedding, and a memory that Myron cherishes. It has been a year since they married, and Myron couldn't be happier.

    the wagtail family
Myron has always had a difficult relationship with his family. This was exacerbated when Myron's relationship with Glinda broke down and he started sleeping around. As his fame grew, and his personal life was reported in the media, Myron's family started to object to their family name being dragged through the mud, as they saw it. They were not happy about his relationship with a man (Kirley) and put pressure on him to settle down with one person, a woman they approved of. Even when Myron got back together with Glinda, the pressure from his family didn't end, and with him and Glinda discussing starting a family, Myron decided that the last thing he wanted was for his children to be subjected to the horror that was his childhood. No child of his will ever wonder if they're loved or feel that they have to jump through hoops in order to obtain parental approval.

After eloping to marry Glinda, Myron has broken away from his own family and embraced Glinda's. He loves Glinda's parents, who treat him like a son, and he greatly enjoys spending time with her father, soaking up the father-son bonding that he never had before.

    resistance records
Myron's own recording studio was first conceptualised when he and Glinda first found the house they ended up buying. They both fell in love with it in an instant and despite the hefty price tag, they managed to scrape together the deposit. With such incredible acoustics (yes, Myron tested them out during their initial inspection of the house, much to the amusement of their estate agent) Myron had immediately started talking about how amazing it would be to record an album there. The discussion moved on to a possible business venture to help them make the payments for the house - with Myron starting a recording studio where he would rent out the time to bands and record labels to record epic acoustic albums as well as other albums.

Glinda's father, upon hearing Myron's plans and his passion, offered to invest in the studio by putting up the money for the recording equipment and renovations that would be required to set it all up, knowing that his daughter and her husband had put every knut they had into purchasing the house. If his own father had made the offer, Myron would have made a point to refuse and do it on his own, seeking to prove himself, but with Glinda's father recognising that this was something Myron was talented at and wanting to invest with him, Myron was thrilled by the offer and the praise, and frequently talks his ear off about the business whenever his in-laws are over for dinner.

It wasn't actually intended to be a label, as such, until Myron had a problem with Siren Records and split from them in a rather public fashion. Myron doesn't take kindly to being told what to do, creatively, and after what happened last time (with the song he had been forced to write - Magic Works - which is the bane of his existence) Myron blew up at the implication that he should play the game and sell his soul for record sales. It has never been about the money for Myron, but about making music and performing. The money is a lovely symbol of how well they're doing, that's all. So when he left Siren Records, it quickly became obvious what he needed to do. Start his own record label. And thus, Resistance Records was born.

Myron is frequently out looking for new bands to sign. He doesn't yet have the resources of a massive corporation like Siren Records and can't fund the big tours like they do, though he can book venues around the UK, but he does offer personalised service, experience as a musician and a rock star and a beautiful recording studio.
