Born to a business tycoon and a previous Sports Illustrated model turned television host, and now writer, Thomas had everything he could have ever dreamed and then some. Well, except too much quality time with his parents, but then again, who needed all that right? Especially when he had a very nice Italian nanny to enjoy the company of. But, even as little quality time as he spent with his parents, Thomas had been groomed to take over his father's business from day one. James had built his business from the ground up and was not about to lose it to any stock holders or other parts of management. Oh how they had tried many times, but still to no avail.
Of course, Thomas, even being groomed for this since the day he was born, did not actually know anymore about the company then anyone else. It is a multi-billion dollar corporation specializing in logistics operations, technology mainframe support and executive consulting. Nor did anyone know just how shady the business was and how it greased the pockets of politicians, but all of that is besides the point. Money opens doors, especially with cutting edge scientific procedures. And when Thomas was a child, he recalls many people to come and visit him specifically, claiming to be doctors or friends of his parents, but he rarely ever went to an actual doctor's office or hospital. But he was never actually privy to the information that went along with the fact that he had been born with a hip dysplasia, and his parents were trying to hide this little discrepancy from the world. It was a weakness, and that was just not tolerable in their family.
So, James used his money and power to obviously, not only hide this issue, but to also 'fix' his son. As if he were some sort of broken car, that is exactly how he treated the matter. But, as he grew older, Thomas was a bit of a sickly child, even after the hip dysplasia was repaired, causing his parents to pull him from public school and cause him to be home schooled for about six years. But when high school reared it's ugly head, Thomas refused to sit back and enjoy his days within the confines of his home. Talking to his parents about the matter, they finally agreed seeing as he had not be sickly in any way for well over four years now. Ready to put him in a Prep School, he found himself asking for public school, in an attempt to make his father proud, claiming to get to know the little people. And since they were in New York, due to business reasons anyway, so why not there? If nothing else, it made sense to him.
Ambitious, meticulous, and extremely focused, Thomas has always been driven to succeed in all that he does. He gives off a refined air, one of regality and aristocracy. Because of this, he was able to make it through high school easy enough, with an impressive resume and list of activities as well. By his senior year, Tom was president of student council, the debate team, and National Honor Society. He even played on the football team and basketball team four years running. Top honor student, to the highest degree. But none of that seemed to matter as much as the fact that he didn't want to become some sort of monster like that he felt his parents had become. Selfish people that only cared for their own needs and how things appeared on the outside.
But, of course, there was a girl. A girl that was his complete opposite that he bartered with his parents in order to follow to North Carolina for school. College life was never a strain on their relationship at all. Well, at least not until the past few months. She had went to school to become a nurse and had been working an odd rotation as a student, while he had been studying law. They had separate goals and paths in life and with both of them offered very different jobs during their summer internships all they were able to do was argue and be angry with one another. Now he is just trying to get through the rest of the semester without his parents realizing anything, completely dedicated to finishing out the year at Chapel Hill.
