At 7:19 in the evening on August 7th, 1982, Ashley Michael Crane was born to Sidney and Lisa Crane. In the months after his birth, Ashley was not particularly remarkable except that he was not a particularly fussy baby. Indeed, this seemed to set the precedent for the rest of his life as the baby turned into a boy and then eventually a man. Whenever a crisis or stressful situation arose, Ashley seemed to meet the situation head on with a calm demeanor that few individuals seemed to possess. Later in life, this calmness would save his life and the lives his fellow Marines numerous times.

Shortly after Ashley turned three, a younger sister was added to the family and they moved north to Ladysmith, Wisconsin where his parents could better devote their time to raising their two children. Sidney opened a coffee and tea shop while Lisa stayed at home to oversee the house. Under her care, both children flourished as they grew and Ashley showed an eagerness and thirst for knowledge in both his regular education as well as his magickal education. The boy had a strong connection to the earth and the elements and he had a knack for learning spells, potions, and ingredients quickly. He was always happy to help his younger sister, Blair, who struggled a bit with her magick than he did. During the summer months, the two Crane children were always causing harmless mischief in more ways than one and loved to explore the woods around Ladysmith.

As Ashley continued to grow older, plans for his future started to take hold and the young man bounced back and forth between teaching and going into healthcare. The summer he'd be going into his Junior year of high school at Ladysmith High, the older Crane sibling finally decided that helping people versus teaching people was where his strength lay. In order to get a head start on his path, Ashley enrolled at the Health Care Academy in order to earn dual credit toward medical school. Upon graduation, Ashley had been accepted into the University of Wisconsin medical program. However, after the first semester, the young man had made the decision to enlist in the military for financial assistance and put less of a monetary burden on his parents. Either way, his family was proud of him.

Military life was siginificantly different than his regular life and Ashley relished the challenge of it all from boot camp to day-to-day life in the Marines. Between his training and tours with his unit, the witch continued to his medical studies when he wasn't deployed. Ashley came to love being part of the Marines and found that he was helping people just as much as he would when he planned to become a doctor. While he enjoyed the challenges of his new life, the stress eventually got to Ashley especially after a particularly traumatic IED explosion that took the lives of several the comrades in his unit. When asked of this event, Ashley does not go into details other than to say that they were involved in a explosion. Only immediate family and Seneca know that he'd tried saving their lives but was unable to during his fourth tour. Due to the nature and proximity of the explosion, Ashley was sent home due to temporary hearing loss. Once he regained his hearing, he requested to be discharged and it was granted, with honors.

In the subsequent months of his discharge, Ashley struggled to adapt back to civilian life. He couldn't seem to devote his concentration to his studies despite the help and support of his family and military friends. It wasn't until a chance encounter nearly a year later at the age of 25 did his life slowly regain it's balance. The firm in charge of Seneca's security had the opportunity of witnessing Ashley diffuse a tense situation at a convenience store and, after some convincing, hired him. Seneca and Ashley fought like cats and dogs the first six months until they bonded over the incident that had gotten him discharged. In the end, it was the singer that saved his life and sanity, a fact that Ashley is forever grateful for and one of the reasons he fell in love with Seneca. Since then the two have kept a strict separation of their working and private lives as Seneca's music career continues to soar.
