When you think of Las Vegas, you're probably thinking of the Strip. Although it technically isn't in Las Vegas city limits, the Strip houses some of the city's most iconic architecture.

The Strip by day is a much different image than it is by night. You can travel on the monorail or shuttles, but several hotels have worked to make the street more pedestrian friendly.

Fremont Street dates back to the founding of Las Vegas itself. Home to the iconic Vegas Vic, Fremont Street has earned the nickname "Glitter Gulch" because of its abundance of neon signs.

Welcome to fabulous Las Vegas

This is where you come to be entertained. Fantastic acts, magicians, showgirls, impersonators, almost anything you could ever dream of seeing on stage, right there for your viewing pleasure. This is where you come to win, for once. Visit the casinos, strike it big at the slot machines, or in a game of poker, or with a spin of the roulette wheel. Take a walk on the Strip, come see the lights. This is where you come to embrace every story you've heard about the city. While you're at it, why not get married by a man dressed like a long-dead performer? This is where you come to do something crazy.

This is where we work. Hotel managers, waitresses, contractors, stay-at-home moms, all of those jobs that you left back home for the weekend, right here in the city. This is where we fall in love. Go out for dinner and a movie, a walk through the park, awkward and fumbling marriage proposals, weddings in churches or small private ceremonies at the courthouse. We look at our firstborns through the nursery window at the hospital, worry about finding the best daycare, send our children off to school, watch them graduate. This is where we raise a family. There's more to this place than all those crazy stories. This is where we live.

Life in Las Vegas
I like to say that living in Vegas is just like living anywhere else, but that just isn't true. There are a variety of things that set Vegas apart as a freak of US nature (while simultaneously touting the unofficial US motto of "Go big or go home!") and, on a lesser scale, things that should be talked about for people who do not come from cities. What follows is a collection of observations drawn from my twenty years growing up and living in Las Vegas, and I really hope it helps you guys or, at the very least, is fun to read.

This page is updated on add days, so it should almost always be up to date. Why make a stats page? Well, for one thing, we have too much free time.
