personality
Megan is a girl who minds her own business and hopes others mind theirs. Coming from two rather violent parents, she herself has grown up with the idea that it isn't really bad to hurt bad people. By hurt, she means
kill
.
She has been told her moral code is warped, but she doesn't believe herself to be more innocent than her targets. She has a skill set that suits her preferred lifestyle and she holds little to no remorse when taking a life. She's not delusional enough to refer to herself as a necessary evil either. She prefers to be referred to as a professional. When she's hired for a job, there is no registering emotion. She attacks the assignment logically.
This is how she likes to think of herself, but she does have problems with it at times. When she's zoned it's not hard to detach herself from the situation. Because of this, she enjoys surrounding herself with people. She likes to bury herself in social groups and not sleep alone. Unfortunately, she's not good at keeping up with people, often neglecting them when they don't fit her needs or she feels the relationship has become too binding.
Family, on the other hand, is a strange subject. She knows of them, but keeps her distance. She loves her parents and knows they tried, but she also knows that she didn't grow up with a normal mother and father. The secrets she had to keep gave her a distinct feeling of being an outcast, making her act out to draw attention to herself. Everyone thinks it's a lack of discipline, but it was her escape.
An escapist by nature, she has a grandiose persona that draws people in. She pretends to have no worries or cares to the point of almost believing it herself. Her devil may care attitude has lost her quite a few partnerships and made a few people believe she's just got a death wish.
history
Megan was the unplanned result of a relationship between Jason Todd and his partner Laura Kinney. The two hadn't expressly stated they were together, but had basically been a couple in everything but name. The two fought alongside each other and became close allies and then eventually something more. When Laura revealed she was pregnant, Jason was at a loss for words. He wasn't angry, simply shocked. He thought about telling her that having the baby wasn't a good idea considering who they both were, but moments later he just told her they'd take care of it together.
Megan didn't have the most ideal childhood or even the best parents, but she had parents who loved her and tried. She spent a good chunk of her childhood in Gotham, but as she grew older her parents started to move around a lot for jobs. Getting uprooted every couple of months made it hard to make friends, but she learned how to make acquaintances, and learned how to make people like her. Most importantly, she learned that she could be anyone she wanted to be because no one knew who she was. Each new location was a blank slate and she eventually started to weave all sorts of tales to captivate her new classmates.
Her parents could have taken an easier road, dropping their daughter into a stable home, but they didn't. Jason spent as much time with Megan as he could. He introduced her to things that he liked and taught her things that he knew. He didn't teach her things nearly as extensively as her mother did. Eventually, they sent her off to her grandfather's school, Jean's School of Higher Learning, where she trained with him for a year. It gave her a chance to settle in, make some friends, and actually have some stability. Unfortunately, she quickly grew restless and began to sneak off and do her own thing.
After graduating, she forwent college for a more lucrative opportunities. She started off as a bodyguard, but eventually moved onto more complicated work. She ran into a group of mercenaries who gave her a good offer. And that is how she ended up in the employ of Agency X. They were professionals, even if they seemed a little goofy. The head guy was weird, but she let it go. They were pretty lenient, didn't micromanage her, and the pay was good. She got to see a lot of the world and sent a lot of post cards back home.
The only problem she ever had with the job was when she ended up facing her own family members. Her choice occupation easily put a strain on her relations with them and she eventually attempted to drop out of contact with them altogether. Unfortunately, her past just had this annoying way of catching up with her from time to time.
