➲godmodding, metagaming, and powerplay are expressly forbidden. disagreements that need a mediator can be brought to the mod.
➲all major storylines have to be mod-approved. this means pregnancy, major car accidents or injuries, suicide attempts, and so on. if there's anything you feel might seriously change the course of things, we probably feel the same way. please just give us a heads up before you go through with it.
➲we won't be sticklers about the age of your character vs. the face's actual age, we just ask that you be reasonable. a 30 year old actress, for example, will in no way pass for a 17 year old. use common sense when choosing a face.
➲do your research! more specifically, have some sort of idea of what you're getting your character into. for example, there's no way your character can be in multiple clubs and sports while maintaining a straight A grade average as well as a thriving social life. be realistic!
➲have fun! this is just a game, and there's no need to take things too seriously.
➲bios are not required in full immediately. we only require name, age, and character background or ten facts about your character. anything after that will be due at the same time as your first update--within two weeks of acceptance.
➲usernames can be IC or OOC, however; no extra letters, x's, underscores or numbers allowed. aim names are not required, but should be some form of your character's name and also be free of numbers, underscores, or random letters.
➲again, aim is not required for this particular game. an out-of-character contact post (with screened comments); however, is required upon application.
➲we require one scene and one journal example, as we feel this is the best way to get some insight into your writing. keep in mind that we're not necessarily asking for extremely long, in depth examples, we value quality over quantity. really, we're looking to see that you were consistent throughout the scene (i.e strong starts that taper off into one sentence replies) and that grammar and spelling are up to par.
➲if your application is deleted, you have unfortunately been rejected. feel free to comment the dropbox with questions.
➲your first update is due within two weeks of acceptance. this is to make sure that your character will be active within the game. after that, standard activity rules apply.
➲all students will be living on campus and can not choose whom their roommates are.
➲after joining, you will not have the opportunity to change roommates in the middle of the year. we understand that not everything will be peachy keen with assigned roommates; however, so if problems arise that just can't be worked out just contact a mod.
the in game start time is september 3, 2013. each game week will span approximately two real life weeks. this may be altered depending on what occurs in game, however, we will not allow game weeks will to last longer than one real life month.
there is no character limit, but try not to take on more than you can handle. if you cannot keep up with updates for your characters, you will be asked to drop one or two until you are at a more manageable number. when bringing in a new character, please keep in mind that diversity is key.
hiatuses are perfectly fine; leave a comment at the dropbox or make a post to your character's journal if you need one. we'll grant you one that lasts up to three weeks, but for fairness, we can't go longer than that unless there are extenuating circumstances.
in regard to
activity checks, activity will be monitored through journal updates. we'll need to see one every three weeks, though posting more frequently is definitely encouraged. we don't require a certain amount of sentences or words, just as long as it's not obvious you're only putting enough effort to avoid being cut. make sure to comment sub-comms and fellow member posts to show that you're active! chatty members a healthy community make. if you are using a filtered thread/scene for your update, please be sure to include the mod journal so that it can be viewed and counted for activity.
