New Salem, MA
The island of New Salem, MA was established in the late 1600s by a coven of real witches escaping the chaos of Salem. The coven was led to their new promiseland by Black John Brunswick. Black John, however, had other plans in mind than just establishing a colony. He wanted his own coven and while he never achieved his goal in his lifetime the clever warlock made sure he'd achieve it in another.

New Salem has grown since it's days as a haven for witches and is now fully diverse with many a nonbeliever. In fact the original families have given up the craft...or so they think. The island is full of new age and occult shops but most see it as heritage not anything to take seriously. The island isn't much on tourism and some of the more superstitious may tell you to be careful that "some of those people aren't right" but the beauty of New Salem is undeniable.

However a new circle of witches is rising in New Salem as the teenage children of the families realize their power. They work in secret learning what they can from books left behind. Not all of them have found their family's Book of Shadows but those that have are sharing it's knowledge.

Little do they know that in doing so they are playing right into the hands of a powerful force that has returned to New Salem, a force that destroyed their parents coven, and took the lives of one of every circle members parents. Death was just the beginning and now Black John has returned to claim his coven and complete this secret circle. New Salem will once again belong to the witches and if Black John has his way so will the world.

Black John
The Man known as Black John or simply John Brunswick is the new principal of New Salem High. Unfortunately for the circle they are unaware of the Brunswick family and Black John's involvement with their parents circle. John had a hand in all their lives when he returned to New Salem to live in the now abandoned number 13 during the circles parents generation. He taught them, molded them, and even got them paired up the way that he liked. This secret circle is his creation, or that's how he sees it, and now he's back to claim what's his. No circle has been this powerful and John needs to get to them before they realize it so he can mould them in his own image. The parents may have thought they stopped him that fateful night that so many lives were lost but not even death can hold Black John away for long. New Salem and the world is in danger and it's all up to the secret circle to stop him before it's too late.
