Biography: Adolphine's parents, Stephen and Gertrude Shepherd, had made it a habit to disown most of their family. Stephen, the more laid back of the pair, had been pushed into an informal disowning of his brother, Isaac, when he and Gertrude had married, since his new bride couldn't fathom the thought of being related to someone who owned a pornography and sex toy shoppe. When given a shocked look upon introduction, she would always be quick to say, 'no relation to those Shepherds,' and did her best to raise her three children, Lucretia, Brandon, and Adolphine away from her brother-in-laws influence.

However, her attempts were in vain. With her nephew, Oliver, often underfoot, Gertrude was regularly reminded of her extended families quirks, and when, years later, at the age of sixteen, her eldest daughter Lucretia announced that she was gay and was going to go live with her girlfriend, Gertrude flipped. Soon after, Brandon and Adolphine were forbidden from speaking with their cousin or anyone else in their family, for that matter, and were both removed from public school in an effort to contain the madness. Stephen, busy with his shipping business, didn't pay it much mind, deciding that avoidance was the best way to remain sane in his family.

Gertrude's efforts were useless, though, and Brandon, at the age of seventeen, ran off to join an artist's commune where he soon fell into a spiral of pot, cheap wine, and hazy conversations about Kafka and the merits of nihilism with equally intoxicated hippies. Adolphine, unable to handle the pressure that was soon transferred to her, as the only remaining "admitted" child, cracked. With her cousin's dubious support (they'd kept in touch fairly easily, despite her mother's random moments of panic regarding everything), Adolphine made a rather large, but never regretted decision; when she turned eighteen, she moved out of her parent's home, moved in with her cousin, and agreed to become the surrogate mother for two of her gay friends, who had been unsuccessful in adoption and who desperately wanted a child.

Now unofficially disowned as well, Adolphine often helped babysit the baby she'd given to her friends, and began to involve herself in various food drives, fundraisers, and other such charities around London, especially Chalkfarm where she and her cousin lived. At the age of twenty, Adolphine made the choice to become a surrogate mother again, this time for her older sister, Lucretia, who was still with her teenage love. Though helping to give her parents a grandchild didn't help her relationship with her parents, it didn't hurt it either, and a few years later, Gertrude was willing to attempt to reopen contact with her three children. By then, they'd all settled happily into their own lives, but worked to keep things civil.

Still living with her cousin, Adolphine began to help scout out new bands for his record label, only for Oliver to sign her as well in 2004. Laboring to prove that his gamble had been a good one, it took a year for her to finally put out a three song EP, and by then her cousin was rattling off into a sudden marriage; setting aside her musical ambitions, Adolphine took a third surrogate position and took over much of the work at the label until Oliver's year long marriage fell apart, allowing him to settle back into the swing of things in an effort to distract from the lengthy divorce proceedings. Again living together, Adolphine helped out at the label as a receptionist from time to time, though put most of her focus back on the charity work she was still involved in, leaving music to her cousin.

The end of 2007 proved to be a bizarre time for her, as she headed back and forth between LA and New York at her cousin's whim, depending on when he needed a babysitter or if she simply got too tired of looking at the same four walls for too long. Though she considered, on several occasions, taking up another surrogate position, Oliver repeatedly talked her out of it, instead attempting to get her back into the music world, encouraging a second EP or even a full-length album from her. Finally, a mutual agreement was reached while he was on his winter tour in Europe; she'd act as a personal assistant for him, and he'd help her work on an album and help rejuvenate her interest in the field by giving her a first hand look at what she could have for herself, if she worked at it.

Other stuff: With a bawdy sense of humor and a disturbing comfort level in regards to the disgusting habits of smelly men on a tour bus, Addie tends to be more at ease with people who are laid back and comfortable with an off-kilter joke delivery and the occasional crashing of a belching contest or chorus line set to Big Balls by AC/DC. A throwback to the 60s, and a firm supporter of free love and just having a good time, she throws peace signs and sit ins like they're going out of style. Her life's goal is to get a VW Bug in some obnoxious colour, and then to paint peace symbols and flowers all over it. Though she's a little too flighty to really be considered a follower of any particular ideal or belief, she tries to keep to her own personal standards about what she does, or doesn't stand behind. ❀ Threading is preferred due to inconsistent wireless but AIM can be negotiated.
