Biography: Born to Brenda-Lynn and Richard Sherburne, Ariel became the youngest of two children. Her brother, Dominic, was born three years prior to herself and there was never a dull moment in their household. Her father had been in a few movies while he was in his early twenties but his family ultimately became more important to him than going to premieres. They relocated to Riverside, California where the two Sherburne children were free to live a normal life, but Ariel always wanted to do something more with her life. She wanted to make a name for herself, but that sort of thing didn't happen overnight. Her parents wanted her to focus more on her schoolwork, and while Ariel kept her grades up she began to pull away from wanting to study and do class projects with her peers and gravitate more toward the theatre program at school. She wound up becoming involved in as many productions as she possibly could, and it was after her fourth show that her parents realized that they could no longer hold her back from what she wanted to do. It was in her blood!

Richard called in a few favors and got his daughter involved with the same agent he had been with during his time. It wasn't long before she booked something, but it ended up just being a simple part in a commercial for Cheerios cereal. It wasn't enough to keep Ariel completely satisfied, but she didn't have to wait long for an actual role to come knocking at her door. She was cast in the 2004 film, Speak as Rachel Bruin, based off of the novel by Laurie Halse Anderson. It was a great start to a film career, and her performance in it had been wonderful enough to get her recognized by many important people in the business. Unfortunately they all thought the same thing about her at the time - she was too young.

With the guidance of her parents, she took some time off to focus on her grades again. It wasn't until 2007 that her next role came along in the form of Johanna in the musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. But neither of her past films filled her need to do something great. And then late in 2007 she signed onto do a little film by the name of Twilight as Jessica Stanley, Bella Swan's first friend at Forks High School. The phenomenon that followed the release of the movie was something that she hadn't been expecting at all, but it certainly opened up many doors for the young actress. There was such an overwhelmingly great response from fans for the movie that it definitely exceeded her expectations and that was the moment when she realized that her career was actually going somewhere.

Ariel went on to be cast in other films such as Adventureland and 17 Again, and she was recently found on the set of the new romantic comedy, Valentine's Day. She just finished up her bit parts in New Moon, and cannot wait for The Vampire Diaries to finally premiere this fall.
