fun facts
• • • Not the snappiest dresser. He has absolutely no fashion sense whatsoever. Socks are often mismatched, he doesn't understand why brown can't be worn with black, and he owns more tacky button downs then a 10th grade English teacher. Majority of his shopping is done in second hand shops, lending itself to his whimsical form of dress.
• • • A literary lover. He absolutely loves to read. This includes everything from the back of the cereal box to the works of Tolstoy. Lacking shelves in his current residence, majority of his books are packed into boxes and shoved beneath his bed. Thus, it appears to be a hidden passion though, not intentionally.
• • • Not the neatest of people. This is probably do in part to the fact that he is a borderline hoarder. The young man has an odd assortment of knick knacks and doesn't really care to rid himself of them. Dishes can remain in the sink for up to a week at a time and there's always shoes laying about. Yet, in all the mess, he seems to know just where everything is.
• • • Began smoking at the age of 16. This is a habit his father blames on himself, the man being a 15+ year smoker himself. It was his father whom he used to steal the cigarettes from though, influences could easily be placed on the shoulders of his friends. He has occasionally dabbled in pot but, usually finds the experience unpleasant. Not because of the feeling but because he ends up falling asleep and missing out on something funny.
• • • A strong supporter of public transportation. He absolutely hates to drive and tends to do so as little as possible. In the dead of winter, he'll rely on the bus system to get him around while he's a fan of going by bike or foot in the warmer weather. He does, however, own a car and will use it when he needs to. It's best that he doesn't, however, as he suffers from terrible road rage.
• • • Spiritual but not religious. He does believe in a higher power that has semi control of the universe, he just isn't exactly sure what it is. Those things such as fate and destiny, however, are not something he believes to be true.
• • • An Introvert. If he were left alone for the rest of his life, that would be just fine by him. It is a rare occasion that Daniel seeks out the company of another human being. Typically, it's due to a little underage drinking. However, there is the rare time in which he simply wants a friend.

history
The year was 1993. Intel introduced the Pentium microprocessor. Jurassic Park was hitting movie theaters. Bill Clinton was President. A 51-day stand-off at the Branch Davidian compound near Waco, Texas, ends with a fire that kills 76 people. Audrey Hepburn dies at age 63. In Watertown, New York, young couple Ronald Nowakowski and girlfriend Trisha Newport welcomed son Daniel into the world. Upon first look, it was to be seen that Daniel was a rather normal child. He had ten fingers and ten toes. He had eyes that were his father's and a nose that matched his mother. There was nothing particularly abnormal about him, aside from the fact that he seemed to enjoy chewing on his foot as an infant. In all actuality, Daniel was an average child who enjoyed many of the same things other children enjoyed. Building blocks, Sesame Street, and nap time were just a few of his favorite things.

It was only when Daniel turned six that things seemed to change. These were changes that could not be blamed on genetics. It was around this time that things began to turn sour between Ronald and Trisha. While the man was more then happy to play father and set aside his childhood aspirations of being a writer for the time being, Trisha was not. The young woman was restless and easily irritated by the quizzical nature of her son. Her not so small dream of becoming a Broadway superstar plagued her thoughts and she was soon finding herself resentful of the son she helped bring into the world. As far as she was concerned, he was the reason her life had been put on hold. Naive, still, at the age of 23; Trisha found it easier to place the blame on others and not on her own actions. Ronald and Daniel woke on November morning in 1999 to find that Trisha had gone, leaving only a note in her wake. It would be the last thing she would have to say to either of them.

Daniel, being only a child, could only think to blame himself for his mother's exit from his life. The once rambunctious and outgoing child became quiet and tame. As much as he hated to see his once boisterous young son turn into a timid shadow of himself, Robert had to admit that it made things easier on him. Then again, a single father at only 24, his own selfish needs could not be completely suppressed. In fact, it was his own heartbreak and misery that caused the twosome to pack up what little they had and move from the only home they knew. Finding an job ad via an online source was the exact motivation needed. Watertown having been his home since birth, the idea of leaving it behind was difficult but, it had to be done. Not only was he in need of a fresh start but, he had hopes that it would shake young Daniel from the slump he seemed to have fallen into.

The hustle and bustle of Boston seemed to be the perfect backdrop. Of course, at the age of 8, there really wasn't much about the city that Daniel could enjoy. Thankfully, school was there to fill in the gap. Where he fell short socially, Daniel exceeded academically. Reading a book didn't require him to speak up and he often used books as a means of keeping the rest of the world at bay. Because of this, grades were more important then social interactions and making his father proud by making the honor roll every year was the only thing that truly mattered. This was not to say that Daniel went without making friends. After all, he wasn't spared the angst and self righteous attitude that came with puberty. Bonding over overbearing parents, classic literature, and underage smoking landed him with a handful of friends. These few friends were the only reason Daniel didn't become a hermit and, in fact, helped him to find a voice of sorts. That was when he chose to actually speak on his own accord.

Graduating in the spring of 2011 with credits just shy of Valedictorian ( though he swears it should have been his ), Daniel was accepted to his second choice school of Brown University. In all honesty, he would have been happy to go anywhere so long as it took him away from Boston. Living with his father who, like any protective parent, was just a little too interested in his son's life for the young man's liking, he was more then happy to pack up and move. He assured his father that he would be fine in Providence. After all, being a large city in it's own right, how much different could it be? It only took Daniel a week to learn just what he was getting himself into. Academically, it was everything he hoped to be. The classroom arrangements praised questioning and debate was encouraged. While wandering campus may not have thrilled many, it was something he quickly took to enjoying in the nicer weather of early fall. However, he had no idea how expensive the cost of living could be. With his father only able to offer so much help from a distance, Daniel had to reevaluate his monetary arrangements learn to better control his bank account. It also meant working more then one job and adopting a somewhat insomniac lifestyle. Then again... wasn't that what college was all about?
