FACTs
(1) The youngest of six children ( three girls and two boys ), Bryce knows how to make himself heard. He also has a sort of permanent "loud" voice and has to constantly be reminded to lower his voice/speak quieter. Thanks to his older brothers, Bryce also learned quite a few choice words around the time he was learning to speak, much to his mother's dismay.
(2) Ever since Bryce was a young boy, he wanted to become a doctor. He didn't mind visits to the doctor for checkups, illnesses or the occasional broken bone ( wrist and ankle ). Everything was fascinating to him! But the moment he had to get his blood taken, Bryce's mind was blown. He still wanted to be a doctor, but the kind that got to take blood from people. Thanks to his supernatural obsession, he called it the "vampire doctor", happily repeating that to people who asked what he wanted to be when he got older. Well into his twenties, Bryce still uses that term to describe himself, enjoying the blank look on peoples' faces.
(3) On May 19, 2005, after four grueling years in high school, Bryce graduated with honors. being the epitome of nerd, he insisted on spending the summer preparing himself for college - packing and repacking his suitcase, double checking his list to make sure everything was together. Sure, he made time to hang out with his family and friends, as a last resort when he drove himself crazy. Being alone made Bryce sort of edgy, he thrived on other peoples' emotions and conversations. When not making an appearance, Bryce holed himself up in his room with a laptop and either surfed the web or played games on Facebook or played Sims. The latter being his obsession at the moment.
(4) The one thing that Bryce absolutely hates to do at his job is get near a patient, realize they're very nervous and when they're nervous they tend to vomit, and end up usually doing it on Bryce's shoes/pants. He doesn't mind bodily fluids, but wouldn't want to deal with them on a day to day basis.
(5) In his down time besides drinking, womanizing, and various other things he's not proud of, but does anyway because a habit's a habit and damn they're hard to break, Bryce will sit down and watch television for four hours straight - The Simpsons, Family Guy, Jeopardy! - 1000 Ways to Die; anything interesting he will watch. Lately, he couldn't wait for the Halloween TV season to start and the creepy shows/movies to come on. Just so he can laugh at how werewolves and vampires are portrayed on them. There is one sort of supernatural that Bryce has found that doesn't scare him. Ghosts. This is after he found out the pediatric wing of the hospital is haunted by a little girl named Charlotte. Surprisingly, he didn't freak out and run when he first encountered Charlotte. Instead, he stood there staring then got the gall to talk, and since then he comes to work sometimes with a little toy in his pocket to set in the room that the ghost frequents or passes by to say hi, not in front of the other employees of course, they'd think he was crazy and try to admit him to the psych ward. This, he keeps to himself.
(6) Bryce is proud of the fact that he knows how to cook. Nothing too fancy like thanksgiving dinner, but something with enough sustenance to hold him over. His favorite dish to make is creamed chicken over baking powder biscuits, or sometimes potatoes if he feels like something different. Add green beans with melted cheese, and cranberries and Bryce's stomach is grumbling. He loves to watch The Food Network and find new recipes, perfect them then add his own zing to it. During the winter, Bryce constantly makes super spicy chill with tons of jalapenos and enough heat to burn every taste bud off his tongue. He loves food being spicy and hot and probably owns stock in Prilosec by now.
(7) Bryce may look and sometimes sound like he should be from California, but truth be told, he hasn't an idea on how to surf and rarely makes it to the beach to tan or go swimming. Water and Bryce don't mix; after a rather traumatizing event that happened when he was about three years old at his uncle's house. He had fallen in and nobody had been around to witness this so little Bryce struggled and struggled to keep afloat, but grew tired and was starting to go under when a couple of men on a boat noticed the tot and rescued him. Ever since, Bryce refuses to go on a dock, a boat, or even sidewalk near a body of water and freaks out if anyone even suggests it.
(8) Ever since the arrival of his daughter, Bryce had to take a crash course on how to raise a baby. The mother didn't want anything to do with Ella; which was apparent when she just left the baby girl on Bryce's porch with a note that read, "She's yours, don't try to find me." then took off without another word changing her name and telephone number just so Bryce wouldn't. A bit miffed at her, Bryce has taken every day with Ella very carefully, still trying to get the hang of what each cry means and to stop retching when she fills up her diaper. Bryce has no problem seeing blood or a patient vomiting at work, but when he has to change Ella's diaper, it just makes him loose it.
(9) There is no filter between Bryce's mouth and brain. He just says whatever comes to mind; dumb or not and withstands the stares and snickers that come from it. People usually shrug it off as him having a blonde moment, but they'd be surprised to find out that the blonde is fake and he's naturally a brunette. Lately though, Bryce has contemplated going back to the brunette, but started off with a shorter hair style, as his longish hair was often described as Justin Bieber-ish and if there's one thing Bryce hates more than baby poop, stuck up people, and water is Justin Bieber. Annoying little shit.
(10) For some reason, Bryce is absolutely obsessed with pens - ones that click to use, twist to use, uncap, vibrate, gel or not. The ink color doesn't matter, what matters is he always has a handful of pens on himself; usually weighing down the breast pocket of his lab coat and rattling around in the ashtray of his burnt orange Honda element.
(11) A sort of electronics whore, Bryce owns a Zune, iPod touch, iPhone, and a couple laptops. He still owns his original CD player from when he was younger, boom box and most of the CD's he had, having downloaded them onto his computer and to his iPod.
(12) As a health care worker, Bryce finds smoking and doing drugs absolutely disgusting, though he won't chastise anyone he sees for smoking a cigarette or pot. Just like he doesn't want anyone chastising him for being unmarried with a daughter.
(13) Another weird thing Bryce loves is nail polish. Not black to try to be goth or "different" or whatever the hell it's called now a day. Bright colors are his absolute favorite and though he's not really supposed to wear it for work, he's able to hide it under the gloves he's required to work.
(14) Thanks to his job, Bryce can slip a latex glove on and off in under twenty seconds. Bryce and the other phlebotomists often have races seeing who can get it on/off faster, the winner often buying the others something from one of the many vending machines in the hospital.
(15) Bryce doesn't have a favorite genre of movie. He'll watch anything from Letters to Juliet to a gore filled horror flick.
