Background

Born in Bucheon to a wealthy family, Baekhyun never wanted for anything. His father was a successful business man, his mother a housewife with all the social graces and connections necessary to help her husband succeed in the social sphere of business. They had a son, Baekhyun's brother, early on in their marriage before deciding to focus their attention on him before thinking about more children. Seven years later and the mindset that they were content with having a single song, Baekhyun was born. They weren't prepared for him, accident that he was, and perhaps they also weren't prepared for the spitfire their younger song became.

Baekhyun grew up to be one of the popular and bright students that most of his classmates would have loved to hate, except he made that exceedingly hard by being friendly and funny. He easily befriended the other children in his classes, both boys and girls, goofing off without earning the wrath of his teachers due to his dedication to his studies. His charm made him the kind of boy that most of the girls wanted to date and most of the guys wanted to be. When it was discovered that he could sing, and sing well, he was instantly cast into the school and church choirs and made something of a local star. Even as just a middle schooler, he was considered to be on his way to a bright future. No longer thought of as anything close to an accident, he was simply a model second son following int he academic footsteps of his older brother with the added bonus of being more personable and talented.

His parents, intent on keeping him focused on his studies and vocal talent, enrolled him in Seoul High All-Boys Institute. They thought that it would be the perfect environment for him without girls to distract him in class as well as putting him in the bustling metropolis of the nation's capital to ease him into a faster life style and expose him to a wider variety of people. What they couldn't have foreseen, and what they will never know about, is the fact that the precious light of their lives was gay. He discovered it in the first semester of his freshman year and hasn't looked back in, growing into his sexuality with surprising speed and grace. But Baekhyun continues to shine in the academic sphere as well as the social one, working hard so he can stay at Seoul High and in the city were his romantic side is able to flourish more than anything else.

At least he isn't being distracted by girls.

Personality

☼ Baekhyun always tells his roommates that he's gay in case they want to switch in the beginning of the year. Even though he'd rather stick to only telling people he knows well and trusts, he doesn't want it to create issues later on down the line. Plus, it makes him feel more comfortable in his own home, so it's win-win for him to just come out with it first thing.

☼ He's a very affectionate guy, though not always in a completely genuine way. He likes people and being social and he'll force his way into a circle of friends if he thinks it could benefit him or if there's one member of the group he wants to get close to. Often he uses his bright smile and contagious laughter to get close to people without really letting them in, because it's safer that way but he still has the benefit of having friends.

☼ Writing is a passion of his, and it's basically the only thing that he's shy about. Even though it's no secret that he writes fiction and poetry, he lets very few people actually read it. Usually only those close to him or maybe fellow writers are allowed to see his work, mostly because it's a way for him to be comfortable with his sexuality and has a lot of homoerotic imagery or plotlines. And yes he does write fanfiction, though he'll never ever tell anyone as long as he lives!!

☼ Subjects like math and science are sort of the bane of Baekhyun's existence because he doesn't do well with concrete answers. He thrives in creative environments and subjects like literature, philosophy, and even religion, but math completely bores him. Science has been a little touch and go since it leaves some room for creativity, mainly chemistry, but other than that it bores him.

☼ Baekhyun is the opposite of shy, especially with people that he's comfortable with. Not only does he have no trouble flirting with friends regardless of sexual orientation, but he can also get quite physical with his affections. It's always done with a smile and a laugh, though, and if he thinks it bothers someone enough he'll lay off. He has very little shame, though, and though he's far from loose with his affections, he also takes advantage of being single and mingling with a wide range of guys.

☼ Somehow he's avoided the majority of the student body from knowing that he's gay even though he's slept with plenty of his classmates. Because most of the guys he sleeps with are ones he meets in clubs from other schools (or are out of school, hoho) he's largely believed to be more of a playboy among girls rather than guys.

☼ Even though he doesn't consider himself a scholar, Baekhyun is very intelligent. Enough to to slack off, at times, and not really apply himself if the subject is boring or the teacher doesn't seem to value his sometimes humorous input. Even if he sometimes acts out in class, he puts effort into his assignments to go well in classes.

☼ Music is his life's blood in a lot of ways, and it's not uncommon to see him walking around campus with headphones on while mouthing along to the words. He also has a habit of blasting music and singing along in his dorm room, often making up silly dances to go along with them if he's up and active. Singing is his first and favorite hobby, and he plays piano well enough to accompany himself if he ever feels like it. His parents are very fond of his singing since it seems like a waste of time to them, but it helps keep him sane a lot of the time.

☼ And yes, some of his musical taste is stereotypically gay, but he also likes mainstream pop and plenty of indie and American folk. When he has time he likes to go to concerts or hang around clubs where bands are likely to play, or take a day to try to get into a music show to see one of his favorite groups perform when they're promoting. He's something of a fanboy.

☼ Baekhyun likes to collect short friends because it's good for his self-esteem, not that he needs a whole lot of help in that department. He won't shy away from taller friends, but people around his height are ideal. Secretly, he's really attracted to tall guys, though, because there are a lot of fun things to think about when it comes to having a boyfriend that can pick you up easily!

☼ Languages are something that he has an interest in, especially as a singer. English is his best, and he has some fluency though his vocabulary is a little lacking. He's working hard to get better, though, and he's also started to tackle French in his spare time.

☼ Unfortunately he's no stranger to being called a slut. It doesn't bother him to a certain extent, because he does sleep around, but he obviously doesn't enjoy the harsh words. He's still of the opinion that he shouldn't bother pretending to not be the way he is just to impress people who wouldn't accept him for being himself.

☼ He collects kigurumis. Not even joking. He has a rilakkuma, a lion, a chipmunk, a corgi, and a unicorn. He wears them often because they're warm as hell.

☼ Lu Han (being the huge nerd he is) made Baekhyun take a Jung Typology Test just for shits and giggles. His result was: ESFP (100% Extravert, 1% Sensing, 88% Feeling, 44% Perceiving)
