background
Jung Ilhoon was born to a typical upper middle-class Korean family. His father was a business man and his mother a stay-at-home mom since giving birth to his older sister four years earlier. When he turned four, his mother enrolled him in early education both in a hopes of stimulating him intellectually and as a form of day care so she could return to her career as an accountant. Ilhoon grew up to be a somewhat below average kid in an above average family, overshadowed by a sister who succeeded in academics, extracurriculars , and music. Meanwhile Ilhoon developed more interest in video games and manhwa rather than school or sports, often skipping hagwon in favor of goofing off with his friends. He had a growing interest for dance that his parents tried desperately to squash once it became apparent that his taste was directed towards street styles rather than anything respectable to become a career. Idol training was out of the question for a family bent on financial success for both generations. As a more physical son in an intellectual family, he grew up with a feeling that he'd disappoint his parents' expectations no matter which direction he chose in life.

After making his way through middle school with unimpressive grades and not even a single extracurricular activity to show for it, his parents decided to send him to Seoul High All-Boys Institute in hopes that the more focused atmosphere would push him to become more ambitious. Seoul presented both an escape and a challenge for him as a somewhat shy person who didn't know how to make friends after growing up with the same group of classmates for most of his life. His one saving grace was meeting Seo Eunkwang while touring the school with his parents in his last year of middle school. He immediately latched onto him, warmed by his bright smiles, friendly nature, and a sense that they had something in common. A mutual love of music helped seal the bond, and even if their taste differed Ilhoon was just glad to have finally met someone who understood his passion.

Though he was originally anxious about attending Seoul High, especially since it felt to him like his parents had given up and abandoned him to be someone else's problem, Ilhoon soon blossomed. Eunkwang played a vital role in this, but there was also the freedom of being out from under his parents' disapproving eyes while still having structure to his life. He joined the dance club on campus in his freshman year and found more people to share his specific passion with as well as allowing his talent and natural flow to strengthen. His physicality became an asset rather than a liability, and with a proper outlet for his energy he was able to focus more on academics. Though he didn't transform into a scholar by any means, he was able to get at least B's in most of his subjects (soft sciences felt like too much thinking and not enough doing). Seoul High also became a placed where he found his sexuality, mostly due to the fact that he didn't miss female classmates as much as he felt he should have. A simmering crush on Eunkwang also proved as a clue, along with some experimenting he indulged in early on.

In the summer between his sophomore and junior years, Ilhoon was essentially left behind by Eunkwang when he left to study music in Japan for two months. This left him with too much time and not enough to do, especially in his parent's eyes which were constantly fixed to him when he returned home. In exchange for agreeing to take summer business courses at a university, his parents let him stay in Seoul. He also joined a club soccer team, a fact he told his parents much to their delight, and earned a spot on in a dance crew, a fact he kept to himself. He soon shed the rest of his baby fat from constant exercise and a better diet, and returned to Seoul High in his junior year looking more sexy than cute. He decided to join the school soccer team to keep up with the exercise that helped him burn off energy and work muscles necessary for dancing.

tidbits
• Loves to dance for any reason, even if he's just standing in line and has too much energy.
• If asked, he'd say music is his favorite thing in the world. He likes to rap along and obviously get his groove on!
• He's been learning guitar for about a year now and it pretty good at it. He has a secondhand acoustic guitar that doesn't look like much but he still loves it.
• Hates skinship, especially from strangers or people he doesn't know well. He'll tolerate it from close friends, but Eunkwang is the only person who consistently gets away with it.
• Somewhat sexually experienced but mostly with foreplay... >/)>
• He'd like to get a part-time job so he can buy more hats for his collection of about a dozen so far (not including cheap street vendor hats).
• Ilhoon is pretty shy, especially when he's out of his comfort zone (like being in a class where he's not good friends with anyone).
• He's written a couple songs, but his strength is more in lyrics than melodies. Mostly he likes rewriting lyrics to existing songs.
• Though he knows on a certain level that he's a good dancer, he's very humble and will often talk himself down as far as his abilities go.
• Talks about Eunkwang way too much. I mean waaaay too much. It's obvious that they're best friends, but a lot of people have mistaken them for more. He's one of those people that relates 50% of a conversation back to their best friend.
• His Western zodiac sign is Libra while in Eastern zodiac he's the year of the Boar.
• His motto is, "First try it out and see!"
