HISTORY Before Birth

Art Falco and Rosemary Cantwell met in Berlin, Germany while Art was stationed over seas for the United States Armed Forces. At first Rosemary was very unwilling to start any kind of relationship with a man in the Army. She had friends who had met men in the military who had promised the moon and stars, only to find out they already had wives and children back home. But Art was persistent, he kept reassuring her that he had nothing but parents and siblings at home waiting for him. After a couple of dates, Rosemary was convinced and so their relationship started. Unfortunately, their relationship only lasted a year until Art was requested to return to the states to join the ranks of the many who had other work to do at home. Rosemary felt the pressure and the fear that she had been afraid of once more. But soon her fear subsided when Art surprised her the last night they were together, by asking her to marry him. That same night, they sought out a priest and made it official. The next morning she said her goodbyes to her family and friends and boarded a plane with her new husband to start a new life in America,

Art's family welcomed Rosemary with open arms. They were thrilled that Art had finally found someone that he felt was worth his time. He was known at home as a quiet, kept to himself man that didn't like sticking his neck out to meet new people. But his family could tell that Rosemary brought the best out in him. Art and Rosemary had had the talk numerous times about starting a family. Art wasn't the greatest with kids, and the only ones he really allowed around him was his nieces and nephews. He never liked the thought of changing diapers and listening to screaming babies as he tried to get work done around the house. Rosemary, although enjoyed being around kids, she always knew her body wasn't always responsive to her wants, so making her husband happy wasn't a hard thing to do.

Without the burden of children, Art and Rosemary was given a freedom that most married couples didn't have. They were able to travel without having to worry about schools, and vacation time. Once Art retired from the Army their future was pretty much set. Rosemary would volunteer at soup kitchens and homeless shelters whenever she could and because of Art's time in the military the two never really saw problems in the form of money issues. Life was good.

Birth

Art and Rosemary's life was pretty perfect and just the way they wanted it. They had gone years with each other and enjoyed their family with their nieces and nephews and their traveling. Little did their minds worry when at 50 years of age Rosemary started her venture into Menopause. But what Rosemary thought was menopause was something completely different. When she started becoming sick in the mornings and having weird pains, she knew it was time to visit the family doctor. A miracle is what the doctor told her when he pronounced that she was pregnant with her first child. Afraid to return home to tell Art she kept it from him for a couple of days. She had tossed it around her mind for awhile before she had the courage to tell him. His reaction wasn't what she had planned. She thought he would be angry, and hurt and felt betrayed. But it was the opposite. He was happy, but afraid for the health of both his wife and his child. Him also being the logicial one, he feared of not being around for the life of his child. The thought of giving the baby to his brother was brought up. He had three children already and was much younger then himself. He had done the baby raising and his wife knew what she was doing. It had been talked about, and the family was supportive of any decision they would come up with. But as the pregnancy progressed Rosemary and Art became more and more attached to the baby Rosemary was carrying. For the last month, Rosemary was restricted to bed rest and light physical actions, at 50 years of age her pregnancy was beyond high risk.

Josephine Rachele Falco was born early in the morning on February 10th, 1987. Rosemary wasn't in labor long and it only took Josie 5 hours to enter into this world. Even from the start, Josie was eager to see the world and be in it. Josie was the best baby Rosemary and Art could have ever asked for. She hardly cried unless she needed to be changed or feed.

Childhood

Josie's childhood was pretty normal. Her parents didn't have or plan for any more children, it was pretty much a one shot deal for them. Raising a baby at the age of 50 was pretty tough on them, but with the help from their family they did the best they could. Josie spent a lot of time with her aunt and uncle. They already had three kids of their own and knew how to handle Josie when Rosemary and Art needed time. It didn't bother Josie one bit. She was the little "sister" to all of them and played the part very well. She would tag along with her cousin Kat and be her brothers. Sleep overs and weekend camping wasn't strangers to her when it came to her family. Many trips had been taken several weekends over the next couple of years and thus would only strengthen the bond she had with them.

Young Adult

In high school, Josie was a pretty average student. Her days were mainly spent in school, in cheer leading, in year book and then at home studying. Her parents were old school and didn't want their daughter "goofing" around like the other children. They were worried she would end up pregnant or on drugs and pretty much kept her on a short leash. The only real socializing she had was when she would spend time at her cousins house. She would sneak out with Kat and hang out with her friends. Although Kat was 9 years older, she promised she would be on her best behavior if she was taken along. She wanted to experience everything. See everything, do everything. And her cousin Kat was the ticket to get her there.

After graudating high school Josie had to make the decision to sit down and speak to her parents about being accepted into a school out of state. The small group of friends that Josie had accquired outside of her family gave her the confidence boost that she needed. Both Art and Rosemary knew how bright and full of life their daughter was and already knew there would be a day when she wanted to leave the nest and be out on her own. it had been the same with them and their own parents. But being told that she had gotten into a school on the other side of the country was hard for the elderly couple to hear. Having their only daughter so far away was going to be hard, but they smiled and agreed to help her every step of the way. They wanted her to be able to follow her dreams and not be held back just because they wanted her close.

The only reassuring things that Art and Rosemary had was that the fact that Kat, Josie's eldest cousin had moved out to Charlotte and agreed to allow Josie to live with her while she attended college. Josie couldn't have been more thrilled and even though it hurt to say good bye to her parents and her aunts and uncles she got on that plane to start a new life.

Adult

Majoring in Early Child Education was an easy pick for Josie. She had been around kids almost all her life and couldn't think of any other way to fuel her love for them. While growing up, she had often accompanied her mother to the hospital where she would sit and play with the other children who were in there for many different reasons. One by one she saw the small group grow smaller one day and then gain another the next. She had asked her mother once why some children disappeared and she had told her why. That the children she met at the hospital had been sick and when the day came that they never returned to their play dates it was because God had called them home. At that moment is when Josie knew that on top of being a teacher, helping people was something else she wanted to do. She took up a minor in nursing and in her second year she felt like her life was set.

That was until she got a phone call from her mother. She had known her father had been sick for awhile now and even though it hit her hard to know that he had finally been called home, she didn't take it very well. She turned to her older cousin and her new found friends to comfort her and when she returned home for the funeral she watched as they buried her father into the ground. She had asked her mother numerous times if she wanted Josie to come home. But each and every time the woman would refuse and tell her to go chase her own dreams. At first Josie felt guilty but as she watched Rosemary being taken care by her aunts and uncles she knew her mother was right.

She returned to school and threw herself into her schooling and work. Trying to get her mind off of the fact that her father had just been placed in the ground. Her friends tried to comfort her but it was something she had to work out on her own. Soon everything started to go back to normal and she was even starting to feel normal once again. Around this time is when she met Tony. A boy with way too much time on his hands a pretty smile. It didn't take long for the two of them to become friends, he was the same age as her and they had pretty much everything in common. They both likes movies, video games and getting pizza in the middle of the night after a late night study session. But a friend is all he was to her until the day he talked her into coming to a Frat party on St. Patrick's day. Josie had never been one to drink or party so the scene was new to her, but she accepted anyway.

One drink lead to two which lead to two more and Josie lost count after what she thought was three. And before Josie could stop herself or even realize what she was doing, Tony's lips were on hers and the pair of them were heading upstairs to an empty room. In the morning, waking up to her best friend was a shock for Josie. Not only was this not something that she wanted to happen, the fact that Tony had a girlfriend was even worst. The pair quickly decided that nothing had happened and they both had passed out before it got any further then just kissing and heavy petting.

With the recent events that had just happened the night before, going into work the next day was something that Josie wasn't looking forward to. But when she walked through the hospital doors and her eyes landed on an ex army solider she knew it was going to be a good day. Trevor Hanes was his name and she had been assigned to him while he was staying at their hospital after a war injury landed him there for special therapy. It didn't take long for Josie to become smitten with him and she found herself accepting a date proposal from him within days, It seemed like he understood her morals and thoughts and the two hit it off real fast.

Soon Josie found herself in a relationship with Trevor and the two moved in together. A few months passed since the accident with Tony and meeting Trevor and Josie's life was starting to look up. It wasn't until she started to feel sick in the mornings did things seem wrong. She had realized that she had ended up missing her period and with the throwing up in the morning it didn't take long for her to come to the conclusion that she was pregnant. A quick visit to the doctor confirmed her thoughts but that isn't what had gotten her worried. It was how far along she was that had her in a panic. Around the same time that her and Tony had possibly been together, so had her and Trevor and the baby growing inside of her could have been either one of theirs.

Telling Trevor was the hardest thing to do. Of course he took the news that she was pregnant great. He was excited to be a father and start a life with Josie. But when she told him about Tony was when he became stressed and their relationship started to show cracks. When she told Tony he took the news just the same. He was progressing with his own relationship and finding out about a mistake pregnancy from his best friend would make things so much worse. Despite waiting the 7 months to find out whose baby it was, Josie made the decision to have a DNA test done while the baby was still growing inside of her.

The news that it wasn't his child, sent Trevor over the last cliff. It took him another month to make up his mind before packing his things and leaving a pregnant Josie behind. She was broken and lost. When she turned to Tony for support he promised to be there. Anything she needed, all she had to do was ask. But that wasn't the case when Josie went into labor Christmas Eve night.

Abigail Grace Falco was born Christmas morning at 4:03am. Both Josie and her cousin Kat, had tried calling Tony but message after message they both knew he wasn't coming. So instead of holding in any longer, Josie gave in and delivered her little girl. With blonde hair and blue eyes Josie made the first time she held her a promise to care for her and only her.

But once the real world caught up to her, she realized juggling a baby, finishing her schooling and working to support her baby wasn't as easy as she thought it was. She moved back into the house she had once shared with her cousin and accepted the help that had been offered.

When word came after her graduation that her mother had fallen ill, both Josie and Abby rushed back to California to be with her. They arrived just in time to say their goodbyes and just before Abby's first birthday, Josie watched her mother being laid into the ground next to her father. Josie had always known this day was going to come, but she never thought it was going to be this soon and that her mother would have so little time to spend with her granddaughter.

Instead of returning back to Charlotte, with her cousin, Josie decided to take up residence in her childhood home with her daughter and work on paying some of her mother's debts. She got a job at the local hospital as a nurse where Abby can attend the nursery while she works. She isn't too thrilled to be back but she isn't about to turn into a person her parents didn't raise.

It only took Josie a month before things got overwhelming. Between her hours at the hospital and taking care of Abby she wasn't able to find time for a social life. But that all changed Christmas Eve while she was working the late shift. A man came in after having a drunken run in with a car. He wasn't too badly hurt but he was still drunker then a skunk. Josie was put in charge of taking care of him for the night and she would have never guessed her life would have changed after that.

A pair of forgotten keys had started it all and after a few texts back and forth, Josie found herself quite smitten with Justin Duke. It wasn't until he showed concern over Abby did Josie really start to feel something for him. The texts never stopped and even though he wasn't much of a talker in person, Josie soon got him to open up. She found out about his family and what had happened to them and in that moment she knew she wanted to bring light to his world again.

After a few dates later, Josie found herself more then just smitten with him. Watching him with Abby was what did her in also. It seemed to come second nature to him and she loved it. Soon she found herself yearning to be in his arms, to feel his touch and be around him all the time. New Years was a turning point for them. Running into each other was by accident but as Josie watched him walk away and heard the count down for the new year, Josie made a choice to go with her heart. Chasing after him and sharing a New Years kiss with him. What shocked her though, was shortly after, he became the last and first kiss.

Even though Josie knew she loved Justin, her brain was telling her different. Her brain was telling her to run. She made the mistake of causing a small fight that pushed him away. As much as Josie tried she couldn't just wrap her head around the fact that Justin wouldn't leave like the others had. It only took a few days though of not talking to Justin to get to Josie. She was growing more and more depressed with each passing day of not talking to him

During one of her night shifts, she got a text from Justin. They needed to talk. It didn't take long for Josie to apologize for their fight and for both of them to admit they had missed each other. It also didn't take long for Justin to admit that he was leaving Vera Cruz and the life there behind. Josie took it hard. He was leaving her and Abby and just disappearing. It took a few moments for Justin to get through to her that if she wanted him to stay that he would. But Josie understood his need to want to leave. There was nothing left in Vera Cruz for her either, her family was gone and the life she once knew wasn't here. At that moment, Josie decided to take the job offer she had gotten in LA. Informing Justin put the idea in motion and soon the two were talking about moving to LA and starting a new life with her and Abby.
