biography Alexander Grant Kinsella was the second oldest boy of the six Kinsella children. Born in Louisa, Virginia, he had a fairly hard childhood. Always in the shadow of his oldest brother, Alexander quickly felt overlooked and overwhelmed at trying to live up to Garron's potential. It didn't help either that the twins came along not too long after him and they were looked at as special just given the fact that there were two of them. Alex was constantly trying to get his father's attention but he was always ignored. And although his mother babied him to make up for it, Alex suffered over the fact that his father seemed to want to have nothing to do with him. As he grew up this lack of a relationship with his father was reflected in most of the actions that he made.
Alex threw himself into writing and largely ignored his brothers as best he could to avoid resenting them. Writing music and novels, essays and articles, he would write anything and everything just to keep himself from suffocating under the weight of depression. Every time he finished anything he sent it off to publishers and to agents, though for the first two years his efforts turned up nothing but rejection slips. It wasn't until he turned sixteen and he finished his first published short story Pop Art that they finally sat up and took notice. It was a critically acclaimed story and earned him a contract for a novel. The next several years were spent in a whirlwind of traveling, writing and just trying to put out the next book.
In addition to writing books he was very into music. He started a band just out of high school that ended up releasing a few albums and doing a few small tours before they broke up. After the band split he decided to focus his time back on his writing and that was the year that he published The Zombie Survival Guide. As he got older his relationship with his brothers got better and he always ended up back in Virginia even though his travels took him all over the world. Most recently, he's settled himself in Los Angeles where he is working on his latest novel and eagerly awaiting the release of the newest, finished Kinsella novel.
After a messy romance with singer/songwriter Chloe Porter, Alex spiraled into a bout of depression that nearly ended his writing career. In the end he managed to harness the emotion from all of the drama and to put it back into his writing. After spending several months locked away in seclusion, he's getting ready to put out a few of the projects that he's been working out for the better part of a year and a half.
