miscellaneous
• • • A huge fan of the outdoors. Maybe this had to do with years spent on the farm. Camping is a great escape but, a morning spent fishing is just as handy.
• • • Football is another favorite past time. Sunday is specifically set aside to watch games and unwind. His favorite team is the Green Bay Packers.
• • • Though he lived through college on a diet of ramen and popcorn, he has slowly turned himself into a fairly decent cook. He just doesn't enjoy the mess that usually goes along with it.
• • • Adopted his dog Bart shortly after things ended with Katherine. While he would never admit it, the dog was a coping mechanism. To the day, Chris claims the mutt is the only company he needs.
• • • The idea of dating again is something that terrified Chris. Work is his usual excuse though this hasn't stopped family or friends from attempting to set him. All have failed.
• • • Though a drop of coffee had never touched his lips until he moved to Berkley, Chris now can not properly function without at least two cups every morning. Some mornings call for three.
• • • Despite having a closet full of them, Chris is not particularly fond of suits. While he wears them daily for work, he will always feel more comfortable in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt.
• • • Comes from a deeply religious family. Every Lancaster child can find their name tucked into the bible. Chris, much to the disappointment of his mother, has slacked on attending church.

biography
Born on a cold day in the small town of Hebron in upstate New York, Christopher James was the third of eight children for the Lancaster's, Robert and Barbara, and the one of only three boys. Out numbered for years before his brother Jessie was born, Christopher quickly adopted a solitary lifestyle. The son of a modern day farmer, it was never really anticipated that the young man would amount to much. Most would assume that he would simply take over the family farm when the time came. It wasn't a bad thing but, most would consider a college education a stretch for the boy. However, this wasn't to say that family life was complicated. Parents were supportive of his endeavors and the only torment he seemed to received was dealt at the hands of his siblings. Retaliations were almost always in order. More often then not, Christopher was typically the one who helped to keep an order around the house. Growing up on the farm seemed as though it may be tough, there was nothing about that Christopher didn't love. For starters, the Lancaster family was a tight knit group. His siblings were his best friends and his parents were his biggest supporters. The old farm house was the perfect setting for the large family, the old dairy farm giving them the perfect amount of land to run about. While daily chores seemed tedious and some times hard, Christopher was never one to complain. He knew that the sooner he got them done, the sooner he was allowed to go about his own business which typically meant horseback riding, tinkering with the old truck, or building something in garage. If it was anything hands on, Christopher wanted to know how to do it. His father had told him that when it came down to it, these traits would always get him through life, better then anything that was taught in school would. While he didn't fully believe it, he simply enjoyed working with his hands. It didn't matter that the farm life had aged his father more then the years ever could have, Christopher had high hopes that he could help take over the family business when the time came. The man may have been haggard but, he was a happy fellow and that was important.

School was more of a chore for Christopher then working around the house. Having spent much of his early childhood running around the wide open spaces that surrounded the farm house, he felt somewhat tied down when it came to sitting in a classroom. While he was considered to be a disruption for majority of his grade school days, the young man would come to take a more serious interest in middle school. Long gone were the days of playing farm hand and aspirations to be a dairy farmer. Cracking books and listening to lectures had opened his mind to a world of possibilities that extended far beyond the fence of his home. While it seemed to be a little far fetched, Christopher began turning his attention towards the future and just would could be in store for him if he took the right path. Yes, even he being the young man who couldn't stand the idea of school, had grown to accept that a college education could be his ticket to a life more exciting. It would seem that the years of sticking his nose in a book have given him a slight case of wanderlust. While a drive in the truck could usually tide him over, there was still a yearning for more that even his parents could see. By the time he was entering high school, Christopher was taking a far more serious approach to his education. Though the thought traveling any great distance from home was something unsettling, it was the only way he was ever going to get the freedom he desired. The young man graduated with a 3.2 GPA and a scholarship to the University of California.

An undeclared major for his first year at university, Christopher focused mostly on general education courses and getting himself accustomed to life in Berkley. After all, having moved across the country from his small town home, he truly felt like a fish out of water. He needed the time to adjust to this very different lifestyle. It wasn't until he was well into his second year that Christopher even began to look at Majors. While English and Literature seemed like a logical choice, it was a suggestion from a co-worker that ultimately won out. While reading and writing were both hobbies for the young man, he wasn't sure he could manage to really make a career out of either. Marketing, however, seemed to have promise. At least, it had it's own options. Though he knew little on the subject, wasn't he going to college to further his education? Presenting himself with a challenge, Christopher finally decided on his major and quickly immersed himself into the classwork. A major wasn't the only thing he discovered that year. It was also during this time that he met Katherine Stanton. Things did not go as smoothly as one would think a romance should. Meeting through a mutual friend at a party, Christopher found her disposition to be somewhat flighty and very materialistic. She was quoted to have described Chris as a "pompous male chauvinist with a stick shoved so far up his ass that it had replaced his spine". It would ultimately be their differences that brought them together. Whether in a true debate or simply playing the devil's advocate to one another, the two were always willing to engage each other in discussion. Eventually, a mutual respect was formed and from that, a budding romance. While no one really saw it coming, all seemed to agree once it was there. They dated for a steady three years before marrying shortly after graduating in 2006.

When it came to entering the real world, Christopher considered himself lucky. Perkins + Will was one of the highest rated architecture firms in the nation and he was lucky enough to have interned there while at University. With his name already familiar around the office, getting his foot in the door was much easier then he had originally anticipated. Unfortunately, there was nothing open that would put to use his degree. Ambitious and unwilling to give up, Christopher was all too happy to accept a measly job working in the mail room and wait it out. Every day he would check the bulletin boards, checking for an open positions. Each one, he would apply for. Some he would get. Some he would be denied. It was slow work but, Christopher was moving up in the business. While his career seemed to be on the rise, It would appear to be at the expense of his marriage. Katherine had been more then happy to support Christopher in his ambitious endeavors. At least, that was how she had felt in the beginning. There was always promise for something better, something more. After all, she had her own career to look after and the long nights of work were something they could fight through together. However, the more Christopher seemed to advance at work, the less time he spent at home. Listening to friends and co-workers alike talk of their significant others, the dates they went on, and the romantic getaways they experienced; Katherine began to feel twinges of envy. Of course, she would do her best to ignore them. Never would she question whether or not she was loved. Her husband was simply ambitious. Those ambitions, however, seemed to take over Christopher's every move. Dates were cancelled and neither had taken a real vacation since graduating. A choice had to be made and it was the hardest decision she had to make. On what should have been their fifth wedding anniversary, Katherine not only moved out but, she left Christopher with divorce papers. While he hardly agreed with her claims that his job was more important then their relationship, work was what he ultimately chose. Citing irreconcilable differences, their five year marriage was ended with two simple signatures. It was a decision that Christopher would later regret.

Though his personal life had turned to shambles, his career was about to hit it's high point. After spending more then a decade with the company, Christopher finally got a break. Across the country, in the lovely state of Rhode Island, a position opened up. Would it bother him that he would have to move back across the country? Hardly. Would it bother him that he would no longer work for the company that gave him opportunity after opportunity. This was the way of business, as far as he was concerned. Quite honestly, the change of scenery couldn't have come at a better time. Not only for him but for his oldest sister, Deborah, who was going through a divorce of her own. The opportunity was quickly snapped up and in late spring of 2011, Christopher packed his belongings and made the trek back to the east coast. Career wise, it is his greatest accomplishment and most anticipated change. On the home front, however, Christopher had not been anticipating the mess that was his sister's life. Currently living with the woman while she collects the pieces of her life, he is adjusting not only to sharing the space with her but, her sixteen year old daughter as well.
