Biography: Named after the month he was supposed to be born on, it was known from his birth that August would be laid back and independent. He was born nearly a month late, at the farm in Southern Australia. His family never left the large aces of land they owned, except for when food was necessary or when the children headed out for a week for exams for school. Otherwise, the children would roam the farm and play until it grew dark- with the exception of school and entertaining the guests who stayed on the land. August, in particular, always gave the biggest hand when it came to taking care of the animals or tending to the visitors who came to stay on their land for vacation. He would greet them happily, as he always considered the new guests friends for whatever amount of time they would stay. It was a change in scenery to see new faces, and so he'd always try to keep them happy. It was always a game of hide and go seek as a child with the travelers- that is, up until the year they bought an upright piano. It was not gifted to anyone in particular, but in no time August was tinkering away to the instrument, greeting guests this way. The new welcome was well received, as a 6-year-old boy playing piano was always a charming treat. His siblings at times would join in on the fun, beating pans or singing along. His younger sister Aubrey, however, would join in the most, spending the time with him singing duets or singing alone.
It was from these experiences of hospitality and fun with the piano that left August beginning to grow tired quickly of the songs that he had learned to play and had memorized. He no longer looked at pages to play songs, and now that he could play a large repertoire without music, he had been seeking more. At the age of 11, August wrote his first song, and it was welcomed by the visitors that year when he taught his sister the words. He would play the music and sing the background vocals while the 7-year-old girl sung her little heart out. Nowadays people ask him what that first song was and August vowed he will not reveal it to the public. He always manages to brush it off, saying it had something to do with "Roos and Bunyips," and following it with a hearty laugh. After this, however, he was writing more and more and eventually sold his first song by the age of nineteen.
It was an unexpected moment when a producer asked August how much he would sell his work for. He had never considered selling his music, but given this opportunity he took it up. He has penned many songs for various acts in Australia, and written various songs for Australian Idol (where he has also appeared as a judge). More notably, he produced the album Knives Don't Have Your Back by Barclay, as well as produced and co-written for Soundwave (his younger brother's band). He still lives in Australia, however he is planning on leaving the country some time soon. He has felt the need to leave for other pursuits, but one of the things he is finally going to do is try to pursue his own music, instead of only write and work for others. He is preparing to work with Aubrey again, but this time in a more professional level when she begins her career in music.
Miscellaneous: August is the kind of guy people go to when they are no sure what to do in any given situation, and he gives you several options. He is not one to truly put his foot down on decisions that are not his own, but will give you his two cents when asked. Do not think he is a pushover, though- August can make up his mind when it has to do with his own matters. He is a recluse when it comes to work, but knows how to have a good time, however he just hasn't been in the mood for it as of late. He has never been one to soak in the limelight, as he lets his siblings do this, and is rather modest when asked about his own work. He does not consider himself anything except human, but readily picks on his siblings whenever a ridiculous tabloid reaches his ears, as he is still close to those who have moved millions of miles away from home.
