Nisha is, in many ways, a contradiction. Too look at her, she looks as she is, detached. She rarely displays emotion in normal settings, instead being in this constant state of observation. Always watching those around her and therefor most often being outside the group instead of participating with them. However, Nisha also is very friendly. Because she watches, she sees the emotional cues in others and responds to them, offering help and counsel where it is needed. It is likely this side of her that led her to being chosen as a RA at the beginning of her Junior year.

Also, Nisha is a honest and loyal girl. Lies very rarely come from her lips, and they are always said in order to spare unpleasantness where necessary (white lies). And once you have become her friend? You will be privy to the more emotional side of her, where smiles come freely, and eventually be able to pick up on her cues even when she seems to be at her most passive.

One other thing people will learn through multiple interactions, is that the ideas that come from Nisha? They are original. She treats each person and situation differently, and will come up with a solution after much thought, tailored just for the person and/or situation. Sometimes it may be a little unorthodox, but it usually works quite well, and it is always with the best of intentions at heart.

Also, very predictably, Nisha is smart. A definite intellectual, though it leans more towards books than street smarts. On a more down side, Nisha can be unpredictable and even contrary. She can cause confusion, an sometimes she will butt into someone else’s private life, despite being adamant that private is private, and so no one should pry. She has likely been told often to practice what she preaches.

BIOGRAPHY
Anand and Darshana were not a fairy tale love match. It was an arranged marriage, a way to get Darshana out of India and to have a better life in America, that was all, and just a bigger plus that the two came from pureblood wizarding stock (really unintentional, but good in the families opinion). The good thing, though, is that once Anand and Darshana met they found themselves very compatible, and soon a friendship grew and love came about. They may never have the burning passion one might expect from true loves, but theirs is a steady love. And that love brought three children into the world, the last of which was Nisha.

From the time she was born, it was apparent Nisha wouldn’t be the most expressive of children. She’d watch her surroundings quietly, always eager to see new things. In this way she learned things quite rapidly from her older siblings and their friends, though it wasn’t apparent at first. She walked before she crawled, was speaking in sentences (when she did deign to speak) before others her age, and just before her second birthday she demanded to be able to use the potty, which she took to in an almost miraculous way. Yes, in Nisha her parents had it very easy, and counted themselves blessed, as their first two children had been far more difficult in their own ways.

It soon became apparent to the family that, like her siblings before her, Nisha was displaying magical aptitude, in the small ways children often did. Especially since Nisha was teased in school for looking more like a boy than a girl. It always got to her, since she wanted to look as pretty as her older sister did. It took an explosive turn, though, when some boys in her fifth grade year decided to ‘check’ and see if she was in fact a girl. They cornered her and made to pin her and lift up her shirt. They never got the shirt up, though, as with her fear came unintentional magic which threw the offending boys back from her. They never bothered her again, and so only a couple months before the end of her muggle schooling career she donned the label of ‘freak’.

Thankfully, AMI was to be her new home, and once there Nisha got to shine in a new light. She loved being surrounded by people just like her. No more worries. Even teasing of her boyish looks became minimal. This was a school focused more on the schooling aspect than sports or anything else like that, which lead to it having a unique student body and atmosphere. Not to say teasing and the like did not occur, since it did. That just lead Nisha down the path of one who tried to help others cope since she herself knew what it was like.

In her eleventh grade year, due to her excellent grades, and her tendency to give counsel to those around her, Nisha was offered the position of Resident Assistant. It was a good post, one Nisha believed she could do rather easily, despite being on the Quidditch Team also. And now she is entering her second year at the post, and she seems to think she is doing well in her duties.

PHYSICAL

APPEARANCE
Coming to five feet and seven inches of height, Nisha is average and not going to be overly tall, despite having rather long legs. And thanks to her Indian heritage, she has some very unique and exotic features. She has straight black hair she keeps cut short, which enhances her boyish facial features; such as her squared jaw. She also has dark brown eyes and skin naturally tanned. She is in possession of a slender body and is model skinny without trying. It is not unhealthy, though, as she does not starve herself, and she is actually quite toned thanks to her athletic leanings.

As for her manner of dress, it is generally more tomboy, as it is what looks the best on her. She looks distinctly odd when in more girlish clothes. However, she does dress that way from time to time, depending on her mood. And at times she will, likely for formal functions, don traditional Indian dress.
