She arrived two months pregnant and depressed, her only help was her long time teacher, Nioclas, who was the reason why she chose Celestial Haven to settle in.
appearance
PB: Nataliya Piro

Physical description: Coming to a very leggy five feet and nine inches, Summer is a tall young woman. She is slender and stays such easily with little exercise needed due to a naturally high metabolism. Due to her Irish heritage running strongly in her, she has the fiery red hair and pale skin that burns easily and holds a smattering of freckles here and there which she attempts to cover with make-up. She is also in possession of a pair of large green hazel eyes, which complete the Irish look. And despite her obvious fiery personality, she has a tendency to come off as more fragile than she in fact is.

Her style of dress is girlish. She likes being female, and she embraces it. Now, she is not a fashionista by any means, since she is more apt to follow what she likes as opposed to keeping track of fashion trends. She doesn’t care if it is seen as out of style. All that matters to her is that she likes it. She also has a love for heels, and is quite often seen in them. Although she always carries a pair of sneakers or flats with her, just in case she has to go somewhere or do something heels are not practical for. She also dresses realistically for what she has planned for the day. So the likelihood of her being in heels and a dress when she is suppose to go hiking is very slim.

Detailed Personality: Feisty is the best single word to describe Summer, as cliché as that is. But it is true. She has quite the out there, out spoken personality. She does not know how to back down. She was raised to be herself, and to be comfortable with who and what she is, and she has never been given a reason not to.

Another thing she was taught growing up was to protect those you care for. Her sister, her brothers, her friends… whoever she felt attached to needed her protection. She knew how dangerous the world could be. People need to be protected, and she took that to heart. She is the person who will stick up for the weak, and step between them and danger. As such… she puts her own safety last, and the safety of others before her.

Being the mothering soul all of this has lead her to be, she has a tendency to ‘adopt’ people close to her. So she has an extensive network of friends which she sees as family, even if she never says as much.
backstory
If there was one thing that Summer Lane wished she could do, it would be to blame the naming of herself and her siblings on the 60’s and its hippie movements. Too bad she will never be able to use that excuse.

Tristan and Mabyn met as many of the witches of their day did, by being secluded away in one of the many Elven cities hidden from the world. Both coming from the union of an elf and a human. They had that in comment, and despite the years that separated them, they fell in love. They fell in love, and they settled down, deciding to do like so many other witches and leave the safety of the Elven cities and go out into the real world and survive, much like their human parents had.

When the time for children came about, it was no small decision. They would be bringing innocents into a world that was vastly uncertain for them, a world that seemed ever changing, and increasingly dangerous. Humans were gaining intelligence, and yet still so close minded. They feared for their children, but still they came. They came and the Lane’s did all in their power to keep them protected.

First born would be Winter, followed five years later by his brother Spring, six years later brought Summer to the family, and it was a great twenty year gap before little Autumn was brought into the world. Two boy’s, two girl’s, all four named for the season in which they were born. Her parents had thought it a grand idea, making them special and set apart from those of their day and age. But more than that, they saw it as being something grand since the names given to each child, in turn, shaped their personalities and abilities as well.

Growing up in the household of witches was interesting to say the least, especially since the time spanned the thirties and forties. It was a rather repressed time, or that was how Summer saw it. Women, especially girls, didn’t have many freedoms, so she was seen as a wild child since she was one that never sat still for long and was always going out to do things, anything. She just wasn’t the type to sit still with the other prim and proper girls as they giggled and gossiped. Plus, she had two older brothers to follow after, and they were, in many ways, her best friends. After all, as witches they could only really trust themselves. They knew what would happen if they were found out, their parents had made certain they knew of it. Still, Summer was never lonely, not in the beginning, not until the moves began.

The downside to being a witch was that, upon maturing and gaining her first blood at fourteen, she stopped aging at a human rate, which in turn made it noticeable. It was the same with her brothers, though they seemed to manage till sixteen before their aging slowed. Once the moving began, it did not stop. They had to keep moving, even after Autumn was born, meaning that the youngest of them never got to have the stable, steady childhood the elder three did. Summer often felt guilty for that.

When she hit the age where she wanted to explore her sexuality, was also when she and her siblings got to be introduced to other supernatural creatures. One of their mother’s sisters, their Aunt, had settled in a Haven over in Michigan. So when summers came thereafter, they had an open invitation for the children to come and spend it there, so that they could experience a community of supernaturals. Needless to say, Summer loved it. Her parents always shied away from it, never staying long, and she could tell a lot of the time Winter felt uncomfortable, but he was generally uncomfortable around the unknown, and tended to be more of a loner, but she and Spring, and especially Autumn took to it.

Entered into a vast network of people then, Summer began to date, indiscriminate about what race they were. A few Vampires, psychics and shifters, and even an elf and a dragon once. But never a human, though there were a couple around that took a shine to her. She just could not bring herself to love a being that would leave her so quickly. Leave her to spend the rest of her long life mourning their loss.

It was also during this time that she met the man who would be her mentor, Nioclas Beirne, a Fire Witch like herself. Having been learning from her Earth and Air stilted parents up until then, it was like a breath of fresh air to meet a Master of her own element. He became a second father to her, taking her under his wing and giving her the steady, reliable and stern affection someone like herself needed in order to combat the wildness of her nature.

Soon after meeting Nioclas, Summer began her traveling, going to places, exploring, but always returning to her parents, always returning to the home they made for their children, and to the siblings who were, really, her bestest of friends. She told them everything, so it became a shock when, seven years ago, she failed to tell them about the man to enter her life. The only one that even knew someone existed whom she was intimate with was Nioclas, simply because he knew his student and, as he saw her, daughter. He knew her moods well by then, and saw the influence this man had on her. The good… and the bad. But he never asked for a name, and she never gave it to him.

In fact, he would become a nameless presence within her mind as she would later become numb to his memory, if only so she could continue on living, otherwise she felt she would be driven insane by his memory. This man, a witch as well, was the love of her life, she knew it deep within her heart, and he did as well. There was just one problem, he was already married. However, his wife was a human female, and a sickly one at that. His love for her was largely centered on pity, something he had admitted to Summer once, and he didn’t need to tell her of the guilt he felt about his feelings, and how he strayed and was being unfaithful to her, because Summer could see it plainly written upon his face. They were now separated, yes, but not divorced, and as two years passed on it became hard for her to bare.

Especially after she met the woman. A sweet human female, gentle and loving. She could see the love she bore him, a love she thought rivaled her own love for the same man. That was when she decided to leave. And that moment seemed to have been planned ahead of time, since that very evening she had been about to share with him important news; she was pregnant. But seeing his wife…

When she saw him that night, she instead ended their relationship. With tears in her eyes, and acting far more mature than she had ever been in her entire life, she told him to go back to his wife. “Our love will not end with this, but her… You do not have to be a diviner to know she does not have much time left, and she loves you, and as someone who loves you as well, I can’t… So go back to her. We have so much time to live together and love each other. So once the time comes, and she has passed and you are done mourning, then come find me. I will be waiting for you, my love. I’ll be waiting in Celestial Haven, that place in Ohio we spoke of settling in. I’ll go there ahead of you, and I will wait for as long as it takes.”

With those words, she left, fleeing without reason given to her family to a safe haven to wait. One in which her mentor himself had settled in. This was something she did not feel she could tell her family. She felt… ashamed, as if they would be disappointed in her. So she gave them no indication on where she was going, and simply disappeared. And once settled in Celestial Haven she put up protections so they could not find her.

Really, Summer was just emotionally distraught. Two months pregnant by then, and having ripped out her own heart practically so she could give up the man she loved… She was in no shape to think clearly, or logically. She was just fighting to keep going each day. But soon days became weeks, then months. Toward the end of her pregnancy she seemed pretty much numb and unfeeling, causing Nioclas ot worry. He almost broke his promise to her not to contact her family then, but the birth of her daughter came, and the little girl brought life back to Summer. Born with her father’s jet black hair and a mixture of their facial features, Jaida was her precious treasure.

It has now been five years, and Summer is living her life for her daughter. Practicing her craft, rising in ability and knowledge, working and providing everything she can. Going through the paces of life. But there is one part of her that is still dead. Romance, attraction, even her sex drive are frozen within her. That side of her where her love for Jaida’s father is kept is numb. That being said, she has not seen or slept with anyone since leaving her lover. Flirting is brushed aside, advances politely turned down. She simply has no desire to be with anyone other than the man she had pledged her heart to.
