Biography

Tristan James Hamilton was born 4 minutes before his brother, Benji, on a hot, humid summer day in Memphis, Tennessee. Tristan and Benji were the only children their mother would have and that was the beginning of their education - their father was nowhere to be seen. In fact, the phone call Reginald Hamilton received barely got noticed amongst all the wheeling and dealing he was doing in New York. He already had 5 sons from a previous relationship. These two, well, they were an accident that he would be reminded of for the rest of his life. Tristan not only grew up knowing his father felt this way, but he hated him for it.

From birth, Tristan was the more outgoing of the two brothers. Benji was the loner, the artist, the more confident of his abilities. They were extremely close, as most twins are. Their older brothers seemed to live on another planet - they talked to them seldom. Those brothers are all lawyers and investment bankers now which makes Tristan believe that he and Benji's creativity came from their mother, Lynn. Lynn never remarried, but she did get enough money from the twins' old man to set herself up in a business that would help support the three of them as the twins grew up. Both boys are also extremely close to their mother because they went through the same problems and chaos over the years alone.

After high school, Tristan had landed in Los Angeles, to chase his dreams of becoming a famous songwriter. He had a talent, it was obvious, but suffered from stage fright or writer's block quite often. He'd fallen in with a party crowd, which seemed to go along with his involvment with a pop princess he called Stacie. She was very famous and very rich, and insisted on him calling her Stacie - her real name. She was heavily into drugs and drinking, parties and casual sex, so of course the relationship went nowhere and Tristan was soon tossed aside like garbage. After picking himself up and getting his life under control, he enrolled in the college by the ocean, Pepperdine University, in Y2K, to study music. While he was there, he met Sasha Spencer and the two began an on again/off again relationship. They managed to stay together for 3 years, talked about marriage, raising their daughter, Robyn, and life was okay for awhile but Tristan and Sasha did too much fighting and finally called it quits in 2004. He hung around LA for awhile but eventually got a phone call from his brother that sent him to Sea Island, Georgia, on the next plane.

The twins had a best friend, Mike, growing up, and the three were inseparable. Their mothers were best friends and Mike, Tristan and Benji would run around together even when home visiting, after high school or during the college years. Mike died in a car accident after a huge fight with Benji; his brother was hurt and his brother's fiance, Heather, lie comatose for several months. For awhile, the twins seemily hated each other - Tristan blamed Benji for Mike's death, and he hated Heather. She survived to get herself back in Benji's good graces which resulted in a sense of betrayal on Tristan's part. He couldn't understand why Benji didn't hold her accountable for what happened to Mike. They didn't talk - Benji stayed on Sea Island; Tristan went to live with his father in the Hamptons for awhile. Time does heal all wounds though and Tristan eventually forgave Benji though he still hasn't forgiven Heather - who is still involved with his brother. It causes friction now and then but they've all grown up a bit since then and Tristan is just glad to have his brother back in his life.

Around the time Tristan went to Sea Island to deal with Benji, he met a young bartender named Aly Forrester. Sasha and Robyn showed up and there was a war of sorts for Tristan's heart, but in the end his heart belonged to Aly. The break with Sasha was not a clean one however, and they had one more night together, which resulted in a son, Corey. His attraction to Aly was undeniable. He eventually parted with Sasha and his long engagement to Aly resulted in a beautiful wedding in Tuscany. They were married happily for a 7 years. Living in San Francisco and raising their daughter, Ava, was the happiest time in his life and Tristan never thought that he would lose his happy life. But stranger things happen - Aly's childhood boyfriend showed up and stole her away...with Ava. They all moved to LA and Tristan fell into a very dark period. This kind of thing was completely foreign to him. His brother had dealt with depression all his life and Tristan always chalked it up to his need for turmoil in his life which forced him to paint his amazing masterpieces. Tristan had always been more upbeat, outgoing, less serious and much better grounded in reality. Enter Tristan's dark years...drugs, alcohol, women, you name it. He finally was able to get control of his demons which lead him to decide he didn't want to be the kind of father to Robyn, Corey and Ava that his father was to him.

Tristan has now decided that he wants to know Robyn and Corey, his kids with Sasha. Ava is in LA with Aly so he's left Memphis again - and his mother's home cooking - to settle into life in Seattle. His songwriting has paid off - he's living on royalties from that and his trust fund Daddy Dearest set up for him, so his main focus is family now. While Benji has yet to leave San Francisco, Tristan hopes to convince him to comes to Seattle soon...although the weather is quite a problem.
