If she could have it her way, Jihyun would rather describe her young life as ordinary as opposed to other people's perception of it being quite extravagant. Perhaps being the only child of a former South Korean President and a retired theatre actress had given outsiders reason to think that she's a privileged young lady who can get virtually anything she wants, but while she doesn't deny this fact, she also tries her best to get people to forget it every so often.

Jihyun was born and raised in Seoul, and even though she loved the fact that she was able to travel a lot around the globe during her growing up years, it never once crossed her mind that she would be living alone in a foreign country at fifteen. Because her father—then already having served the country as President for a year—didn't want her to go through the pressure of having bodyguards (and possible scoop-hungry paparazzi) following her around all the time, he decided to send her to the USA so she could finish her High School education there. Needless to say, Jihyun inwardly hated her father for the first two years of her stay in the Land of the Free, mostly because she had been bullied and discriminated against for looking awkward and different.

Not to be defeated by circumstance, she struggled to master the English language while at the same time reinventing herself, and Jihyun eventually achieved a certain level of comfort when she entered her junior year, making it easier for her to make friends and relate to other people both inside and outside of the campus. To the friends she'd had since freshman year, she definitely transformed from insecure, ugly duckling Jihyun to confident, beautiful swan Gianna. She will never say this out loud, but deep inside she came to thank her father immensely for this experience.

The end of her father's tenure coincided with the year she graduated High School, which meant she was free to come back to Korea to continue her college education if she wanted to. Without so much as a second thought, Jihyun packed her bags and went home to the family and city she missed so much, armed with a newfound confidence she would carry with her to Yonsei University (from which her mother was an alumna) and wherever she went.

Her mother is a member of the Delta Phi Epsilon sorority, and it was only natural that she would encourage Jihyun to pledge for them. The little rebel in Jihyun made her pledge for Kappa Delta instead, though, and she's enjoyed their sisterhood ever since.

Impressions Jihyun elicits from people vary depending on how much they know of her from the get-go. Those who know who her father is (was) would almost always have an image of Little Miss Goody Two-Shoes in their heads, while those who have no knowledge of her background would just think she's one of those "I'm-better-than-you-so-gtfo-my-face" kinds of girls. Wrong and wrong.

While Jihyun would mostly involve herself in humanitarian work—something her mother started while she was in High School—she was never the type to do something good just for the sake of wanting to be seen as someone morally righteous. She has a genuine compassion for people, and would oftentimes be teased by her friends with the title "Someone Who Is Most Likely To Become a Saint." But a saint she isn't, and she knows this very well.

Her heart's in the right place, with a strong sense of justice, but sometimes she has no qualms with doing questionable things to get her point across. Case in point: When a couple of her friends got failing marks from a douchebag professor back when they were college freshmen, she decided to get back at him by puncturing the wheels of his car and vandalizing the rest of it. (Jihyun would've been kicked out of Yonsei because of this, if not for a generous contribution made to the school under her name.) She has long realized that her fiery temper often succeeds in getting the best of her, and she has since made a conscious effort to curb it, although she couldn't really help but lash out sometimes.

This is not to say though, that Jihyun is completely temperamental. In fact, she is more often seen with a brighter, playful mood especially in the company of her friends. Rub her the wrong way, though, and you'll immediately be awarded a death glare, or just a cold shoulder if you're lucky.

Equal parts carefree and hardworking, Jihyun spends her free time doing activities she finds either fun or productive, depending on her mood. She could be out partying with friends this weekend, then locked up in her room studying for exams the next. There would most often be a fine line between work and play, but she allows that line to blur some sometimes, anyway.
