acclaimed is a faux-celeb PB community. The premise is simple: create a character in the entertainment industry, be it an actor, a writer, a director, assistant, photographer, (realistic creativity is key!) and play out their lives. Think Entourage. Dirt. Whose lives are more interesting than those of the rich and famous? Roleplay through instant messenger and comment on events in journals. Choose the face of your celebrity and put them on hold, choose credits from the credits journal or make up your own, create a directory for your journal, write a first entry, and apply! After all, that's when the fun really begins...

We want to create a community of writers that is more like one giant clique than individual ones. Therefore, each character must be connected to at least one other in some way, shape or form before applying. If you think you have a character that might fit well with another, leave a comment in that character's journal! The storyline community is there for you to build connections with others, so please use it!

While there are a team of moderators, we want the members to be able to talk to us and each other about any problems and concerns they might have instead of letting things fester and get out of control. We have a screened post in the moderator journal for privacy, but don't hesitate to IM any one of us. Refer to this locked post to see who to contact and how to contact them.

Standard rules apply. We all know IC is not OOC, don't cross that line. Be realistic with your PB choices in regards to their age and occupation -- a character played-by Ashley Tisdale is not going to be a five time Oscar winning director. If we see that you've chosen too many roles or unrealistic ones, we will ask you to change them pending your application. Stealing other writers' work, be it entries, icons, or graphics, is strictly prohibited. We welcome challenges for PBs, but credits are first come first serve, and we don't take credit holds. Pregnancies, as usual, must be played out for the full 9 months.

On the topic of roles: we discourage choosing credits for your character that your PB is famous for. We understand that sometimes you can't see any other face or voice for the role, but everything in moderation! We will not allow your character to share more than one starring role OR more than two supporting roles with their PB. We will not allow your character to have the same voice as their PB if that voice is their only credit. Feel free to look through the credits journal for ideas, and also to add any movies or television shows we don't already have. Just drop a comment here and we'll add it to our database. The only thing we ask is that all already-made movies you wish to add should fall within two years of when it was actually made. For instance, it's okay to say your character is still filming a recently released movie like Iron Man, but casting your character in Ferris Bueller's Day Off is not acceptable unless they were old enough to star in an 80's movie. In the same vein, we strongly discourage using the same voice as your PB if your character is a musician. If you do, please endeavor to make your character distinctly different than their played-by in other ways. We will be strict about this as we do not want a community full of PB characters who might as well be in a celeb game.

If your credits are not correct, i.e. you have picked roles that are already filled or have placed a film/tv show in a different year than it appears in our credits journal ~ROEPER, you will be automatically rejected. This is a big community and it is YOUR responsibility upon applying to make sure that your credits are correct.

Please be cautious about falling into the trap of allowing your character to do 'too much'. Acting, singing, modeling, athetics, socialite---sure there are a FEW celebrities out there who do manage to balance all of these things, but remember that most just stick to one field. Doing 'too much' is one of the most common reasons we reject applicants, so please be mindful of this as you craft your character..

In-character drama is encouraged, but we require that all BIG drama that you plan for your character must be cleared by the mods. We don't want to be petty, big drama includes pregnancy, miscarriages, death of an NPC, critical injury, arrest, hospitalization and things of that nature. If you're not sure whether or not your drama qualifies as big, might as well ask to be on the safe side, we always reply to our dropbox comments in a timely manner.

Respect our decisions if you request a dramatic plot line and/or a credits change/addition and we deny it or ask that it be held for a later date, do NOT try to convince us why we are wrong and you are right. A lot of thought goes into every decision and we will not fight with you about it. It's stressful and unnecessary. We have no OOC vendettas, just want to see the game play out as realistically as possible.

Do not contact the mods on AIM about OOC issues, requests for dramatic plot, or credit changes. All of those issues should be brought to the dropbox on the mod post.

We ask that you update your journal every three weeks. If you need an extension, we'll give you an extra week. However, we will not allow you to request an extension twice in a row. If you haven't updated after that without a reasonable excuse, you'll be removed. When writing your journal, we ask that you keep it at a mature level. Feel free to include faux celebrity blog entries, news articles, and interviews -- the world is your oyster. Remember, your character's journal is how they gain popularity, so don't be afraid to have them exploit themselves. If you do use another person's words, whether it be for reviews or articles, please cite the original source. Also, note that this does not mean you can copy an entire interview (or more than 50%), change the names, and cite it.

OPEN threads in your journal or in the threading community may also count for an entry should you like to do that instead. You may also use a closed thread/log as a update, but not twice in a row. The key is activity and wanting to participate -- not simply update when we tell you to. Don't forget to sign on AIM, too, there could be amazing interaction waiting for you.

On that note, please do NOT post AIM conversation logs on the public friends page, you are however free to post scenes written on AIM if you so choose.

If you need a hiatus, simply comment on the screened post in the mod journal and let us know. We ask that you don't take a hiatus for longer than six weeks, at which point you will be up for removal, but in special circumstances we will make an exception. If you know you're going to be gone for a lengthy amount of time, we expect you to update before you leave. If you are removed for inactivity 3 times, you will not be allowed back in, no exceptions. Adds are every Monday and Thursday evening and warnings are done every Sunday. Removals are done with Thursday's adds. There is a character limit of FOUR (4). Use your own discretion when it comes to dividing your time. If we notice that you're ignoring one or more of your characters in favor of another, we will talk to players on an individual basis. We know that it's about having fun, but we don't want characters taking up space without reason.
